Consort Lan glanced contemptuously, “What are you afraid of? What if His Majesty brought her into the palace? She’s nothing but a rough woman from the Jianghu, relying on her looks to charm His Majesty. She’s got no backing, so would His Majesty really punish me for a Jianghu woman? I am the daughter of the Great General. With the battles at the border raging, my father is crucial to the Imperial Court right now. His Majesty is not a foolish ruler; he naturally knows what is important. Furthermore, she uprooted His Majesty’s most beloved flower, a flower even the Empress Dowager wouldn’t dare to touch. Do you think His Majesty would still favor her? If His Majesty knew his beloved flower had been uprooted, he would probably want to chop Xia Weibao’s head off! I handled her according to the law, and His Majesty will surely favor me.”

With this analysis, Consort Lan’s earlier hesitation hardened instantly.

“What are you standing there for, attack!”

Consort Lan heightened her tone, and the eunuchs following her instantly moved forward menacingly.

However, the eunuchs were somewhat effeminate, which weakened their fierce expressions considerably.

Wang Cai was so frightened his legs became weak, and he began to cry outright. What should he do now?

Xia Weibao’s face turned cold. As two of the eunuchs reached to seize her, she lifted her leg and kicked each one flying.

Even Lu Hualiang couldn’t withstand one of her kicks, let alone two eunuchs without strength.

Instantly, they were kicked and sent tumbling backward, falling to the ground wailing.

Consort Lan’s face changed, “All of you, attack together, this is insurrection!”

All the eunuchs charged forward, but couldn’t even touch the hem of Xia Weibao’s garment; they were all kicked to the ground.

Xia Weibao shot a cold glance at Consort Lan, “You think you can move against me with these worthless scraps?!”

“You are insolent!” Consort Lan yelled angrily, “Imperial Guards!”

At her command, countless guards immediately surged into the Imperial Garden from all directions, brandishing long swords as they charged at Xia Weibao.

The concubines who had been merely watching the spectacle were horrified, screaming repeatedly.

They lived deep within the Imperial Harem, appearing hard to provoke on the surface but were actually paper tigers, having never seen such a fighting scene.

Even before entering the palace, they were women of the inner chamber, not stepping beyond their doorstep.

A scene like this had long frightened them into hiding.

Not far away, Noble Consort Qi watched the spectacle coldly from a pavilion, plucking the qin strings without any intention to intervene as the current master of The Six Palaces.

Hong Shan stepped forward, “Noble Consort, should we intervene?”

Noble Consort Qi laughed lightly, plucking a qin string, “Consort Lan has always been arrogant and has no regard for anyone else. Now with the Great General being favored by His Majesty, how can I dare provoke her?”

Though she said she didn’t dare provoke, her eyes showed disdain.

Why should she intervene? If Consort Lan could kill Xia Weibao, wouldn’t that save her a lot of trouble?

No one knows the position Xia Weibao holds in His Majesty’s heart right now, and no one dares to act rashly against her. Consort Lan, headstrong and brainless, takes the lead, while she can watch the tigers fight from the mountain.

Whether Consort Lan can deal with Xia Weibao or not, it doesn’t cause her any loss.

Now that it’s escalating, whether Xia Weibao falls or Consort Lan suffers misfortune, it’s a win-win for her!

Thinking this way, Noble Consort Qi still had the leisure to play the qin, enjoying the farce unfolding before her.

Imperial Guards surged in from all directions, frightening Wang Cai until his legs went weak, pushing Xia Weibao to leave.

“Miss, you must go, quickly go!”

Xia Weibao kept a cold, unmovable expression as she watched the approaching guards, motionless.

Leave?

This is the palace; where could she possibly go?

Moreover, the word ‘escape’ was not in her dictionary!
