Interstellar Era: Starting As a Cleaner

Chapter 107: Goal Achieved

Chapter 107: Chapter 107: Goal Achieved

However, Yang Bo didn’t linger. Instead, he piloted the mecha and swiftly left. A few minutes after his departure, the Black Blade General arrived with his men and stared at the dead mutants on the ground.

"You bastard, hurry up and chase him!" the Black Blade General roared, flying into a violent rage. He took the lead and rushed out in pursuit.

The dead men were his own subordinates—members of his tribe that he had arranged as backup. The plan had been for them to transport the stolen goods back to their tribe. Some of the materials were supposed to be sent to the forging workshop to forge Energy Armor and other equipment. He hadn’t expected them to run into a mecha here. The chances of encountering anyone else in the Underground World were incredibly low.

Over a hundred mutants followed closely behind the Black Blade General, madly chasing after Yang Bo.

"I remember there being magma down here. Where is it?" Yang Bo muttered as he maneuvered the mecha, scanning the radar data alongside the external environmental readings.

He intended to dump the mecha into the magma to destroy the evidence. The secret that he could operate a mecha absolutely could not be leaked. As for the female officer, she could guess all she wanted. Without any proof, she couldn’t do a thing.

Besides, he hadn’t revealed his true identity. No one could trace this back to him. After all, the planet was currently in chaos. The perpetrator could have been from the pirates, the Fleet, or even the mutants. Who could say for sure?

Soon, through the data captured by the mecha, Yang Bo found traces of the magma. Magma emitted noxious gases that would drift upward through the tunnels.

Yang Bo maneuvered the mecha through the Underworld at high speeds. He knew this kind of environment like the back of his hand. Furthermore, the underground tunnels bore visible tracks. The frequently used main passages always had signs of animal or human traffic. Those that seemed large but lacked any tracks on the ground were almost always dead ends.

As the concentration of toxic elements detected in the air rose, Yang Bo grew increasingly elated. When the readings of noxious gases reached a sufficient level, he suddenly spotted a glow in the distance. With a single leap, the massive mecha charged forward!

In the next second, Yang Bo was stunned.

There was indeed a magma lake here, but gathered beside it were over a hundred mutants. They seemed to be manufacturing something.

Yang Bo instantly activated the Laser Cannon’s auto-attack mode. Under auto-attack, the Laser Cannon could fire hundreds of times per second. Of course, this rate varied depending on the target’s Energy Intensity. If it were shooting ordinary birds or rats, it could potentially reach thousands of shots per second.

As for the mutants, they might have once been Alliance citizens, but what did that have to do with him? If he popped out now, would these guys treat him like a fellow countryman? What a joke.

The mutants were completely dumbfounded. Why was there an Alliance mecha here? A second later, many of them were struck by the laser fire. The surviving mutants frantically scrambled for cover.

Forging +2!

Forging +8!

Forging +2!

...

The flurry of notifications left Yang Bo bewildered. He took a closer look at the group and realized they seemed to be forging Energy Armor.

Just as he was about to observe them more carefully, ear-piercing alarms blared inside the mecha. Acting on instinct, Yang Bo pushed the control stick and ignited the Rocket Backpack. The entire mecha instantly vaulted over the magma lake ahead.

"Holy crap!" Yang Bo exclaimed as he landed on a massive black rock on the opposite side of the magma lake.

Glancing back, he saw over a hundred mutants clad in Energy Armor, with a few even equipped with Biological Mechas. These Biological Mechas looked completely different from the mechas used in the Human Alliance; they essentially retained various biological forms!

"AARGH!" the Black Blade General roared in absolute fury at the sight before him. This was his tribe’s armor-forging site, their most hidden sanctuary. How did this bastard find it?!

Seeing this massive lineup, Yang Bo executed another leaping maneuver, landing the mecha on a small platform suspended above the magma lake. He then popped open the cockpit.

After his entire body metalized, he placed a hand on the mecha’s frame and guided it a step backward. With a thunderous crash, the colossal machine plummeted straight into the bubbling magma below.

Yang Bo immediately activated his Invisibility and slipped away through a tunnel extending from the small platform. This place was clearly a critical stronghold for some Mutant Tribe.

Meanwhile, the Black Blade General glared at the mecha perched above the magma lake. Just as he was about to order an attack, the mecha suddenly leaped. He immediately scrambled for cover, knowing how devastating its Laser Cannon was.

However, a second later, the mecha unexpectedly plummeted straight into the magma, leaving the Black Blade General utterly dumbfounded.

"General! Bad news! Bad news! The tribe has been ambushed! Our people have been taken, and all our wealth has been looted!" Just as the Black Blade General was trying to process what had happened, a loud voice echoed from the tunnel he had just come through.

Upon hearing this, the Black Blade General flew into a violent rage. "Who? Who attacked our tribe?!"

"We didn’t get a clear look! The enemy was incredibly strong and seemed very familiar with our tribe’s defenses. Our guards were routed before they could even react. The attackers looted everything they could grab and fled immediately. We didn’t dare chase after them!

"The tribe suffered heavy losses this time. The Energy Metal and Energy Stone warehouses were completely cleaned out. Even some of the young women in the tribe were abducted, and anyone who resisted was slaughtered!" the man reported frantically.

"Bring all these men with you! I’m heading back first to check!" Hearing this, the Black Blade General nearly fainted. Energy Metal and Energy Stones were hard currency!

He no longer cared about his men who had been killed by Yang Bo, nor did he care to figure out why Yang Bo’s mecha had fallen into the magma.

Yang Bo, meanwhile, maneuvered invisibly through the passages of the Underworld. This time, he followed the subterranean drafts upward toward the surface. The intense heat from the magma lake dissipated gradually through the tunnels toward the ground level. By following these currents of hot air, he could escape the area.

"I wonder if there are any invisible rats left. They couldn’t have all died out, right? Now that I’m here in person, maybe I can catch a few to breed?" Yang Bo pondered as he walked.

"Ordinary rats produce a litter every month, but who knows how long the breeding cycle for invisible rats is?

"The Invisibility skill is hard to farm. Electric Energy Control, on the other hand, should be much easier. Leveling up Electric Energy Control would be great too.

"If this Blacksmith skill can be used to forge Energy Armor, that would be incredibly badass. When should I find an opportunity to test it out?

"I wonder if this planet has any local specialties that are worth a lot of money back in the Alliance. Maybe I can bring some back when I leave?

"Speaking of which, Iron Bull’s Superpower is pretty awesome, too. How did that guy get his skill? Should I try to extract some of his blood? Dulled Metal is just way too unfriendly to technological products!"
