Interstellar Era: Starting As a Cleaner

Chapter 114: A Strange Idea

Chapter 114: Chapter 114: A Strange Idea

"I knew these Laser Cannons would have maintenance channels," Yang Bo said. His entire body underwent Metalization. He placed his hand next to an abandoned Laser Cannon and quickly sensed a small channel nearby, though it was wrapped in thick Defense Armor. Regardless, even if someone in space was watching, his exterior Battle Armor belonged to Mutants.

A minute later, the maintenance channel opened from the inside. Yang Bo hurried to jump in, simultaneously closing and locking the entrance behind him. He strolled down the maintenance entrance with ease. Since his current Disguise was that of a Mutant, what was there to fear? Wasn’t it normal for Mutants to come here to steal things?

The maintenance channel was extremely narrow and winding, but following it was the exact route that supplied Energy to the external Laser Cannons. Following the channel, Yang Bo slowly arrived at what appeared to be a maintenance hub. There were a few robots here, but mostly components and even some new Laser Cannons.

Making a mental note, Yang Bo carefully counted them. There were surprisingly over thirty large Laser Cannons here.

"I hope this leads to the Main Energy Room. Then, I can set up a few large Energy Cannons there, and any Mutants who come in will be turned to ash." Yang Bo drooled as he looked at these large Energy Cannons. These things packed an incredible amount of Power—they were originally meant for the outpost’s anti-air defense.

After carefully examining the schematic at the maintenance station, Yang Bo discovered an underground channel. Arriving at its entrance, he found a silver-white door. Clearly, this door was another layer of defense to prevent Mutants from entering the Main Energy Room. Yang Bo pressed his entire body against it. The skin on one of his hands underwent Skin Metalization, and then his whole body slowly underwent Metalization. Since he was wrapped in a layer of Battle Armor on the outside, as long as no one looked at him from the front, they would have no idea he had undergone Skin Metalization.

A minute later, the silver-white door opened. This door used an independent password system as well as a hardware system; without authorization, it was simply impossible to enter.

"Independent systems are great! Independent systems are great!" Yang Bo chuckled inwardly. He liked independent systems the best. The material of this door was also quite unusual. He planned to dismantle it when he left later and give it to Iron Bull.

As he walked, Yang Bo used Metal Control to check if there was any issue with the channel, not daring to be careless in the slightest. Soon, he encountered a second door, which was also silver-white. Yang Bo once again pressed his hand against the door. Another minute passed, and the door opened.

The very next second, a frantic alarm blared. Yang Bo instantly used Invisibility.

Was this the Main Energy Room of Sentry Base 16?

Yang Bo couldn’t understand what kind of Energy System this was. It was enclosed in a cylindrical Metal tank and didn’t look like anything good to mess with!

There was a monitoring room near the main control room. Through it, Yang Bo saw a group of Mutants outside a silver door, desperately trying to break it down. No wonder the alarm was sounding.

Yang Bo carefully strolled around but found no signs of a Weapon system here. Then again, it made sense for this place. If it were hit by a Laser Cannon, the whole place might just blow up.

After a quick search, Yang Bo found quite a few good things. There were hundreds of Mechas, all of which were Advanced Mechas ranging from the 9th to the 14th generation. There were no Low Level Mechas; clearly, Low Level Mechas weren’t worthy of being stored in this place. In another area, a large number of bombs were stored—Shock Wave Bombs and Miniature Hydrogen Bombs.

Finally, Yang Bo found the Energy Stones. There weren’t many; only twelve pillars in total, with each weighing about five kilograms.

"Equipping a Sentry Base with this many Energy Stones is already more than enough," he thought. "But no one expected the Planet Guard Fleet to actually be attacked by Pirates. Of course, thanks to the Pirates, otherwise it wouldn’t have been so easy for me to get my hands on these."

Yang Bo decided to take the Energy Stones first and come back later for the Mechas. However, he first used his Superpower to gain authorization for ten Mechas, all equipped with Laser Cannons. He then acted as a Mecha Pilot and maneuvered these Mechas to the entrance of the main control room, activating their automatic defense modes.

"Once they’re used up, they’ll make a nice extra meal for Iron Bull!" Yang Bo looked at the ten Advanced Mechas he had positioned. The ten Advanced Mechas stood or knelt, forming a defensive circle. If the Mutants came through the door, what awaited them would be a baptism by the Laser Cannons of ten Advanced Mechas.

"Thrilling!" Yang Bo found it thrilling just thinking about it. He wondered if those Mutants would wet their pants in fear when they opened the door to the Main Energy Room and saw ten Advanced Mechas.

The Energy Stones were stored inside a cylindrical container filled with a blue solution. Yang Bo brought a case out through the maintenance channel and then closed the channel behind him. Just then, he saw a Warplane approaching from a distance.

"Not good," he thought. He quickly tossed the case into the nearby tall grass and jumped down after it.

Up in the Warship in space, the female officer watched as a Mutant emerged from the maintenance channel of the Sentry Base holding a case. She immediately dispatched Warplanes to intercept him, but unexpectedly, the Mutant vanished into the tall grass along with the case.

The female officer frowned slightly. The Council’s primary order was to prioritize the rescue of Alliance citizens on the Green Demon Star, not to repel the Mutants. The highest priority for all Warplanes was to search for citizens—even if they were dead, they had to be found. Until all the citizens were accounted for, they were not allowed to actively attack the Mutants. This was mainly because the armed Power the female officer currently had at her disposal was limited.

On one hand, they had to clear the Warship debris in space to search for useful items, such as information from the Pirate Battleships. On the other hand, they also had to guard against any other Pirate Battleships or third-party forces waiting on the sidelines.

The Green Demon Star was no secret to the other two nations, who had constantly been trying to intervene here. Otherwise, a King Kong-class Main Battle Ship wouldn’t have been stationed here on the Green Demon Star. It was just that this time, no one expected it to be ambushed by Pirate Battleships. There was definitely a conspiracy behind this; otherwise, Pirates would never take such a massive risk to pull this off.

The reinforcement Warships wouldn’t arrive for another month. In other words, for this coming month, they could only watch as the Mutants ran rampant on the planet.

"I almost got shot by my own people!" Yang Bo muttered as he rapidly moved through the tall grass, carrying the case. On the way, he saw the Tiger-faced King hurrying through the tall grass with over a hundred subordinates. It looked like they were also heading toward Sentry Base 16.

"Hehe, if this guy is going to his death, I’ll go check his tribe for any good loot," Yang Bo chuckled, steering clear of them from a distance.

Yang Bo returned to the cave where Iron Bull was staying. He opened the Metal case, picked up a container holding an Energy Stone, and showed it off to Iron Bull.

"What a letdown." However, Iron Bull’s small eyes were filled with confusion. Yang Bo slapped his forehead—of course Iron Bull didn’t recognize this thing.

When Yang Bo opened the container and followed the instructions to take out the triangular Energy Stone Pillar inside, the stones in Iron Bull’s mouth fell to the ground, accompanied by a lot of drool.

"I wonder if this drool can be used as a material for a Genetic Potion?" Yang Bo thought to himself at that moment.
