Chapter 127: Chapter 127: Mutated Leech
Yang Bo returned to Iron Bull and brought out the Energy Pillars. Iron Bull could swallow the items and store them in its stomach. Yang Bo wasn’t worried. This place would be his base of operations from now on, so maintaining a good relationship with Iron Bull was highly necessary.
He still couldn’t understand what these Mutants needed so many supplies for. Was it for their own tribes to use?
Yang Bo had also figured out the reason why the mecha couldn’t achieve Invisibility. It was indeed the mecha’s battery. The energy frequency of the battery’s power output wasn’t the issue; the problem lay in the power-generating battery itself—the individual battery didn’t possess an energy frequency of its own.
He planned to find an opportunity to stroll through a modification company later to see if there were any plans to modify the battery, or if he could find a Homogeneous Energy Stone to replace it. Since the mecha battery was integrated with the mecha, the battery’s inability to turn invisible caused a system bug.
Moreover, Yang Bo felt that once his personal Energy reserves reached a certain level, he could act as the power source himself.
As for the mecha’s storage facility being able to hold items and access spatial dimensions, he guessed it was due to an Energy Field formed by the mecha’s Energy Metal. Was it similar to how a Spaceship could perform spatial jumps while carrying passengers and cargo inside? After all, the mecha’s battery, Light Brain, and other components were also stored within it. He would have to research the specifics when he got back. Did Invisibility lack an Energy Field effect?
"Space theory? I probably won’t be able to learn it. Should I just kidnap a genius?" Yang Bo muttered to himself.
"The major companies and organizations of the Alliance, along with various underworld factions, all seem to have their own interests on this planet. Four Seas Gene Potion Company, don’t let me down," Yang Bo thought, full of anticipation.
He had already gathered plenty of information about the Treasure Exchange Conference. Along the way, he had noticed many Mutant leaders traveling with their guards, carrying bags of all sizes. Some even brought along captured strange beasts.
Currently dressed as a Mutant, Yang Bo used Metal Control to reshape his Battle Armor. Even the Energy Weapon in his hand transformed into a large broadsword. He named this Mutant persona "Fire Head." This was his first Mutant alias, one proficient in Fire Series control.
Over the past few days, Yang Bo had learned how to fly. To be precise, he could turn into a bird and fly. While he had previously acquired the ability to transform into a bird, flying was something he had to learn on his own. His learning method was crude but simple. He found a high spot, transformed into a bird, and leaped off. He would flap his wings against the wind. If he failed, he would simply revert to his human form before hitting the ground, use Gravity Control to float back up the mountain, and try again. Surprisingly, it was just like learning to ride a bicycle downhill; he mastered it very quickly.
Yang Bo had also captured a strange beast. He found the creature within the Iron Bull Territory—a giant Leech that sucked blood. Even Iron Bull’s incredibly tough skin couldn’t withstand this thing’s bite. There weren’t many of these in the territory, but Yang Bo had managed to find the largest one. These reptiles didn’t grant him any Skills. It looked like a small snake, curling up into a green, fist-sized ball.
He placed it inside a glass container originally meant for Energy Pillars. As it turned out, many Mutant Tribes used containers scavenged from various human bases to store their belongings. There were plenty of glass and metal products among them.
The path was bustling with travelers. Some walked alone, while others traveled in groups, yet everyone tacitly maintained a safe distance from one another. After walking for three days, Yang Bo estimated that he had covered over three thousand kilometers. Mutants possessed incredibly strong physiques, allowing them to move swiftly through the Underworld. Moreover, none of those attending the Treasure Exchange Conference were weaklings.
Upon arriving, Yang Bo was surprised to find that the venue was actually a Celestial Pit. At the bottom of the pit grew massive trees resembling banyans. From above, it looked like a dense canopy, but beneath the foliage, the ground was neatly paved with stone. Numerous stone houses of varying sizes had been built, each serving as a stall for a Mutant Tribe.
He also spotted quite a few humans here. Their attire was distinct; humans wore Battle Armors and Protective Suits, looking completely different from the Mutants. Surprisingly, these humans also had their own stalls, selling Battle Armors, Potions, and even daily necessities like toiletries and alcohol.
"Tsk, tsk." Several Mutant Tribes had directly brought out personal supplies scavenged from escape pods. Yang Bo remembered that his own escape pod had been looted by Mutants right after it landed.
He carefully observed his surroundings but couldn’t spot any guards. This left him puzzled. Just what kind of group was this Ash Organization to be so formidable?
Halfway through, Yang Bo spotted a familiar face—the Tiger-faced King. The guy was with several other tribe leaders. They headed into a nearby cave, the interior of which was too dark to see clearly. Finding a sprawling underground entrance nearby, Yang Bo turned on his Invisibility and quickly slipped inside, hiding his belongings safely.
The cave stretched over two hundred meters deep and was extremely spacious, containing multiple stone chambers. Yang Bo noticed captured people locked up inside. One of them even looked like a resident who had boarded the same Warship as him!
Deep within the cave, over a dozen Mutant leaders had already gathered. Yang Bo found a hidden corner and listened quietly. He stayed concealed despite his Invisibility, fearing that some Mutant might possess a Superpower that countered his. As he listened closely, he found the content of their conversation absolutely explosive.
"Those bastards! I’m definitely going to make trouble for them this time."
"Exactly! We hired the Pirates to wipe out the Alliance’s Planet Fleet, but they fled halfway through. I lost a lot of Warriors."
"We’re in the same boat. Third Huang, you had it easy—at least you managed to loot a wave. Those of us farther away went in for the second wave and ran straight into the Alliance’s Warplanes!"
"That’s right. Every single one of your neighbors, Third Huang, suffered massive losses. They breached the Main Energy Room and took heavy casualties. But you made it in time. Tell us, what exactly happened inside the base?"
"It seemed the Mecha stored in the Main Energy Room was piloted by someone who took all the bombs and the entire reserve of Energy Pillars. Then they vanished into the Underworld. I bet it was someone from those Alliance organizations. Those dogs! We took a huge hit this time," the Tiger-faced King said.
"Yeah, I heard about that too. That Advanced Mecha attracted quite a few tribes along the way before disappearing completely."
"Whatever, we don’t care. The Ash Organization took our money."
"But I heard the Pirates got blown to bits by the Alliance’s newly arrived Main Battle Ships. Two of the Pirate Battleship Captains are even still here."
"No way. Would the Ash Organization dare to provide fake intel?"
"It gets worse. Word is, it was two King Kong-class Main Battle Ships. The Pirates are looking for trouble with the Ash Organization over this too."
Yang Bo had a rough grasp of the situation and quickly slipped away. His belongings were still stashed in the outer cave. If someone took them, he would be in deep trouble.
"Damn it, those bastards," Yang Bo cursed, fuming. To think the string of bad luck he’d encountered was orchestrated by this very organization!
The Ash Organization actually contacted Pirates to attack the Alliance Fleet? Just how much of a payout did the Mutants offer? And how much did the Ash Organization pocket? Yang Bo also knew that a third country was involved, though the Mutant leaders didn’t know which one. Furthermore, the people captured by the Mutants were used for trading. The idea of these organizations dealing in human trafficking was what Yang Bo hated the most. Even in his past life, he had despised human traffickers above all else.
"First, I’ll scout the terrain. What are the Mutants demanding? It’s just benefits, right? Why go through these organizations? Why not negotiate directly with the Alliance?" Yang Bo had a bold idea: to cut out the middlemen and deal directly with the Alliance.
"Right. The slogan should be: ’Mutant affairs should be decided by Mutants.’ I’ll find a way to stir up some trouble first and see what this Ash Organization is all about. These organizations definitely have an escape route here. I’ll find it and cut off their retreat." Yang Bo pondered, thinking it was actually a good thing that these Mutant Tribes acted independently.
"However, I can’t rule out the possibility that some of these Mutant Tribes are just branches of certain organizations," he mused, realizing things might not be so simple. According to the female officer, the first wave to arrive here consisted of various family factions from the Alliance.
"What? You don’t know who attacked the Biological Mecha Manufacturing Base either?" Meanwhile, in a modernized room elsewhere, the person in charge of the Ash Organization stared in shock at the hundreds of rescued employees from a certain mecha company.
