Chapter 2237: Peaceful Meeting
Having accepted the meeting gift from Su Han, the monk from the Western Central Region whom he had clashed with not that long ago, Xuan Hao found himself curiously scrutinizing the older monk that had decided to journey all the way to the Northern Central Region to find him to apologize for the earlier clash that had taken place between them. Understanding from what had happened so far that it seemed like the reason behind the other party’s hostility at the time was because he had believed him to be someone from one of the major powers within the Southern Central Region.
Why being a member from one of the major powers within the Southern Central Region would result in being attacked by a monk from the Western Central Region didn’t even come up, as in the eyes of this older monk, it was clear that this was something common that could be considered general knowledge that didn’t need to be further explained. Giving Xuan Hao a better idea about the relationship between the monks of the Western Central Region and the different powers that existed within the Southern Central Region.
Although it was clear that both sides weren’t directly clashing with one another, it was now also clear that the relationship between the two sides were far from peaceful and they instead seemed to exist in a state of fragile peace that would only be upheld if neither side entered the other side’s borders.
At least so when it came to the stronger cultivators on both sides, as weaker cultivators from either side could still be seen travelling between the two central regions. The adventure Qing Yi and Chun Hua ended up going through after finding themselves being knocked all the way to the Western Central Region had made this more than clear.
Speaking of the two, they had still not managed to make it back to the sect yet and were still on the road...
Shaking his head as he thought about Chun Hua and Qing Yi currently out on a rather forced adventure through the world, Xuan Hao shifted his attention back to the monk before him. Listening as the monk began subtly prodding him with words following the simple introduction and apology gift.
An action that wasn’t exactly hard to see through, as it was rather obvious the other party was trying to learn more about the Star Shattering Sect. Hardly surprising, but still a bit unexpected as he hadn’t really expected the monks of the Western Central Region to send someone all the way to the Northern Central Region just to learn more about the Star Shattering Sect.
Or rather, it wasn’t them sending someone to learn more about the sect that was surprising, but the strength of the person they had sent off to gather more information was far stronger than what Xuan Hao had expected from someone sent out to gather more information on an unknown ancient hidden sect.
After all, with his growing information on hidden ancient sects, he also became increasingly aware just how deadly it was to contact such an ancient power without any prior knowledge, as most such interactions ended with the one going newer returning.
The only reason he could think of that might have given this old monk the courage to contact the Star Shattering Sect, was that he had somehow managed to learn that the Star Shattering Sect wouldn’t be hostile the second he stepped inside their perceived territory.
And... The only major power he could think of, that would have the ability to invoke a certain degree of confidence in this information, would be the Myriad Treasure Hall.
So... The Myriad Treasure Hall also has some dealing with the temples from the Western Central Region? Not that surprising...
Thinking this to himself as he shared the bare minimum with the monk sitting in front of him, Xuan Hao didn’t drag out the meeting with Su Han and soon enough sent him off after determining that the other party and the Western Central Region behind him didn’t have any hostile intentions towards him or his sect.
If anything, the only potential trouble from the Western Central Region he managed to learn about from Su Han was the expansionist faction that existed within the temples led by the Heavenly Dragon Temple, though he wasn’t really that worried about the Heavenly Dragon Temple with his current strength. Especially with the demonic cultivator now kindly blocking the path between the Western Central Region and the Star Shattering Sect.
Not to mention, Su Han himself also personally gave his word that the expansionist faction was unlikely to make any attempt to expand in the Northern Central Region with both the Star Shattering Sect and the demonic cultivators around.
In other words, the Northern Central Region should remain peaceful for the foreseeable future unless the demonic cultivators that had recently quieted down after taking the blue Sea Empire decided to try and expand their borders again.
But... Like the temples of the Western Central Region, the demonic cultivators from the Frozen Wastelands would be similarly worried about the Star Shattering Sect.
...
"That went far smoother than I originally anticipated..." And as he officially left the Star Shattering Sect after his short meeting with Xuan Hao, Su Han couldn’t help looking back in the direction of the Ninth Star Peak with a somewhat bewildered look in his eyes. Having never anticipated his trip to the Star Shattering Sect would go as smoothly as it had ended up going.
Not only did he confirm the person he had ended up attacking alongside two others did indeed belong to this mysterious hidden ancient sect that had recently surfaced in the Northern Central Region, but he also managed to smooth out the potential grudge that could have formed because of that brief hostile clash back at the entrance of the mystic realm.
More importantly than that, with the confirmed existence of an ancient hidden sect like the Star Shattering Sect in the Northern Central Region, it would also help the faction behind him curb the expanding influence of the expansionist faction with the Western Central Region.
Using the existence of a powerful ancient hidden sect like the Star Shattering Sect as a clear reason to put a stop to any plans the expansionist faction had for expanding into the Northern Central Regio.
Of course, the Star Shattering Sect alone wouldn’t be enough, but put together with the demonic cultivators from the Frozen Wastelands, it would be more than enough of a reason to put a stop to those eager monks from the Heavenly Dragon Temple who had their eyes on the Northern Central Region for decades.
Still, even if it would be stopping them from expanding into the Northern Central Region. Knowing those old fellows from the Heavenly Dragon Temple, there was a good chance that they would just shift their attention away from the Northern Central Region and instead start eyeing up the Eastern Central Region that had suddenly turned into the weakest and easiest to conquer central region with the emergence of both the Star Shattering Sect and the demonic cultivators of the Frozen Wastelands in the Northern Central Region.
"Haaa... How annoying..." Muttering this to himself as he thought about the upcoming squabble that would take place as those monks from the Heavenly Dragon Temple shifted towards the Eastern Central Region, Su Han couldn’t help cursing silently in his head. Knowing that there was no way to fully curb out the expansionist ideas of the Heavenly Dragon Temple.
Still, delaying their plans was more than enough for now, as his faction just needed to hold on until it was time to strike at the Southern Central Region and the nine core faiths at the core of the continent.
When that time came, there would be more than enough space for those over eager monks from the Heavenly Dragon Temple to expand their influence beyond the Western Central Region.
In a way, it was also because of this clear promise of future expansion when the time was right that the Heavenly Dragon Temple kept its activities so far limited and hadn’t ended up launching a true strike against the Northern Central Region in the past. Knowing that sticking their heads out first would undoubtedly end up with them bearing the brunt of the response from the nine core faiths.
And... For their plans to succeed, they couldn’t allow this to happen, as they instead wanted to push the demonic cultivators forward and have them take the first hit.
As for the hidden ancient sects... There was no way of pushing them forward to take the hit first, as there was a far greater chance that they themselves were being pushed to the forefront by these ancient hidden sects who had remained completely isolated compared to them, who already controlled an entire central region of the continent and undoubtedly already stood at the forefront of the [To be killed when the time is right] list in the hands of the nine core faiths...
