In this chaotic, savage world, cultivation and warfare alone were enough to consume the vast majority of one's energy.
Who had the energy to pay attention to what was happening overseas, let alone matters that had nothing to do with their own interests?
Therefore, in the eyes of many a Witch, their horizons were largely limited to the regions of the Earth Realm surrounding the Flame Race.
To say nothing of the fact that in the mortal world, the languages, cultures, and customs of many tribes were not at all the same.
Even if a Witch could resolve communication issues through a form of Spiritual dialogue, once they began to travel the world, they were bound to encounter a great many problems due to differing cultures and customs.
For one, some of the more primitive tribes simply forbade other peoples from passing through their territory.
Thus, even within a great race like the Flame Race, few people knew that besides their old rival, the Frost Silkworm Race, there was another great race called Wind Breath located beyond a dozen or so small and mid-sized tribes.
Therefore, in the eyes of Wu Tao, Witch Spirit, and even many Great Witches, the continent they lived on was, for all intents and purposes, the entire world.
They knew of the sea, but only in that the Endless Sea was a forbidden zone.
As for islands in the sea, or the tribes that might exist on them, they were little more than savages in their eyes.
So, when Witch Slaughter mentioned there was another continent across the sea, both of them looked rather bewildered.
"Where is this coming from?"
"Another world beyond the Endless Sea? How could that be possible? I don't believe our race has any records of such a thing."
Wu Tao had lived for nearly five hundred years, after all, so he was understandably skeptical about such a claim.
Witch Spirit was of a similar age, though slightly older at over six hundred.
As for Witch Slaughter, he was in fact already approaching the venerable age of nine hundred.
His age was very close to that of the elder from the Frost Silkworm Race who had previously ascended.
In fact, the end of his Lifespan was also drawing near.
The maximum Lifespan of a Great Witch in this world was around a thousand years, with no exceptions.
Once that limit was reached, those who had not yet been favored by the Deities and achieved Rising into the Heavens would have one final opportunity at the very end of their Lifespan.
This was, in fact, the case for that elder from the Frost Silkworm Race.
As a Great Witch who was only received for ascension at the very limit of his Lifespan, his Power and aptitude couldn't have been all that impressive.
Witch Slaughter did not explain this.
He didn't explain because he had only learned of this matter over a hundred years ago. While receiving Divine Power, his consciousness was suddenly noticed by one of the Deities and pulled into the Celestial Realm.
At that time, he could have actually achieved Rising into the Heavens and become a Witch God Guard.
Unfortunately, Witch Slaughter had boldly refused at the time.
The reason was very simple.
Witch Slaughter felt his Witchcraft still had room to grow. He believed that if he became stronger, he might be of greater help to the Deities after becoming a Witch God Guard. Hoping to perhaps even attain a higher status, he had refused the offer.
The Blazing God, in turn, had been quite intrigued by this and, without a word, sent his consciousness back into his mortal body.
Witch Slaughter had never mentioned this secret past event to anyone.
But this one experience also left him unsure whether it had been a good thing or not.
Becoming a Witch God Guard meant sharing the same Lifespan as the Witch God.
The benefits were obvious, but his refusal also allowed him to avoid becoming one of the Witch God Guards who fell thirty years ago.
But now, there was no telling when the Blazing God would recover.
And with the end of his own Lifespan approaching, he didn't even know if he would live to see that day.
If he were to simply die of old age...
...Witch Slaughter would have no complaints.
Life was just that fickle; no one could predict the future, could they?
"Hmm? So, Tu, you're saying His Majesty the Witch King has already sent people overseas to request aid from some great race?"
Witch Spirit's mind worked quickly. Though she didn't understand the concept of another world across the sea, she immediately latched onto this possibility.
At this point, Witch Slaughter had nothing to hide.
He then nodded.
"There is a great race overseas. His Majesty the Witch King has sent envoys with lavish gifts to beseech them. If they can bring back a hundred or so Great Witches and a host of reasonably powerful Little Witches, we might be able to temporarily break the siege on our people."
When Witch Slaughter spoke, even though Wu Tao still couldn't grasp the concept of an overseas continent, his expression clearly brightened with joy.
The same was likely true for Witch Spirit.
But only Witch Slaughter knew that even if they succeeded, it would be no different than inviting a wolf into their home.
After all, for a great race from overseas to help a great race on another continent, they would surely demand territory.
An overseas enclave would be difficult to control, but for a Great Witch, it wasn't an insurmountable task.
As long as members of the Human Race populated the enclave and a Witch God Hall was established, it would naturally fall into their hands within fifty or a hundred years.
Besides, the distance was vast.
This kind of plea for aid would be difficult to fulfill without a clear path for the journey there and back.
Furthermore, what great race would be willing to dispatch so much of its Power across the Endless Sea to another world all at once?
Did they not need to defend their own territory?
All in all, the chances of success were not very high.
So, what Witch Slaughter had said was little more than a form of psychological comfort.
Witch Slaughter felt a wave of helplessness.
'At the end of the day,' he thought, 'the only way for the Flame Race to truly escape its current predicament is for the Blazing God to recover. Still, this news might boost morale, couldn't it? With Wu Tao's big mouth, this is sure to spread quickly. That's not necessarily a bad thing.'
With that, Witch Slaughter once again began his customary daily meditation.
Given his unique connection, as long as the Blazing God recovered and was willing to respond, he would be able to perceive the deity's true state immediately.
Of course, this time Witch Slaughter didn't hold out much hope.
It was just his routine, once-a-day meditation on the Blazing God.
But this time.
Just as he settled into his trance and began to form the image of the deity in his mind...
...Witch Slaughter's consciousness suddenly felt a familiar pull!
?!!
Witch Slaughter's mind blanked, and a look of shock flickered across his face in the outside world.
But the next moment...
His consciousness had already entered the vast, white Celestial Realm.
Leaping from the First Heaven to the Second Heaven.
Then from the Second Heaven to the Third Heaven.
Finally, as his consciousness floated in a daze, he saw Him—the Deity he had longed to see for all these years!
