Chapter 416: Chapter 331: News of the Holy Order Army
"Yes," Mary called out quickly. She was still in the back of the workshop, having just seen off a craftsman. Hearing a customer enter the Alchemy Shop, she had to reply loudly before hurrying back to the front counter.
As Shire’s business expanded, Mary found herself as busy as a hamster on a wheel. She had to manage the alchemy counter, gather information from the Adventurers, coordinate with the craftsmen in Yangjiao Town, and supervise the drivers transporting various goods. She barely had enough time for a full night’s sleep.
But Mary enjoyed this kind of life. It was much more fulfilling and challenging than her previous life in the village, where she helped her blacksmith father and washed dirty clothes for others.
’I’m just a country girl,’ she knew. She had only a year and a half of schooling at most. Even though Little John often tutored her privately, it was a far cry from the systematic, basic education one received at a Church School.
So, she squeezed out time every day to read and study, constantly refining her speech. As a result, everyone in Yangjiao Town—be they craftsmen, Adventurers, or common folk—knew that the "Drink Undying" Alchemy Workshop had an elegant and knowledgeable "runaway" noble lady.
Whenever Mary heard their praise, she would simply smile and dismiss it. She had tried to argue at first, but the craftsmen were so insistent that she eventually gave up.
Now, she tucked a few stray hairs at her temples back into place and asked with a smile, "How may I help you?"
The visitor was a man of nearly thirty, dressed in a suit of silver Chain Armor. Over his Armor, he wore a white tabard with gold trim, embroidered with the image of a longsword flanked by three pairs of outstretched wings.
"I heard you sell Healing Potions here, with a ’buy ten, get one free’ deal. I was wondering if there’s a limit on the quantity," the man asked calmly, glancing over the workshop’s counter.
"Yes, our offer is indeed buy ten, get one free," Mary said, gesturing with an open palm toward a notice board by the door. "And there is no limit on the quantity."
The man seemed surprised. He glanced back at the notice board by the entrance, which only came up to an adult’s thigh, then said, "My apologies. Please forgive my rudeness. I’m just surprised to find a shop like this here."
He scanned the potions arranged on the shelves behind the counter. The display was simple, but it seemed they had all the essentials.
"I need a large quantity, but for now, I can only pay you with Gold Coins from the Argon Kingdom," the man said apologetically. He took out a gold coin engraved with a shining crown and placed it on the counter.
"Gold Coins from Algon?" Mary was a bit surprised. In all her time helping Shire run the Alchemy Workshop, this was the first time she’d received foreign currency.
"Hmm, that should be acceptable," she said, picking up the gold coin and examining it. "But the amount can’t be too large. You might not be aware, but the Public Security Bureau tracks large transactions involving foreign currency."
"That won’t be a problem," the man said with a dismissive wave and a smile. "I can provide you with certification from the Church. You can take it to the Commerce Bank to make the exchange."
"In that case, are you a Holy Order Warrior from the Battle and Glory Church?" Mary asked, smiling at the customer before her.
"Oh, you could tell?"
"Yes, it wasn’t hard to guess. You have Gold Coins from the Argon Kingdom, can produce Church documents, and then there’s your tabard," Mary said, smiling as she pointed to the embroidery.
It was the unique emblem of the Holy Order Army: a vertical longsword flanked by three pairs of outstretched wings. One pair represented honor, one represented victory, and the third represented their oath to the War God.
After the incident with Sofia, Mary had found several books on the Four Gods Church. One of them discussed the War God Church’s Demon Extermination Department—the Holy Order Army.
The Four Great Churches are generally divided into three main branches. The first is the Secular Department, which deals with the nobility and common folk. The second is the Logistics Department, which manages the church’s finances, material storage, transportation, and personnel training. The third is the Demon Extermination Department, tasked with handling all manner of evil incidents, combating malevolent entities, and safely storing dangerous Magic Items.
Each of the Four Great Churches’ Demon Extermination Departments is unique. For instance, the Earth and Life Church’s department is primarily composed of Druids, who are skilled in Transformation Techniques, Natural Magic, and Divine Life Magic. The department of the Night and Destiny Church, on the other hand, consists of Nightwalkers. They typically wear long, black cloaks that conceal their entire bodies and masks depicting a dark, starry sky. It’s rare to see a Nightwalker inside a Destiny Church chapel.
The War God Church’s Holy Order Army is made up of Holy Paladins skilled in various forms of Combat Swordsmanship. Unlike High Tier Adventurers or members of Knight Orders, these Holy Order Warriors can also use Divine Spells. They are most famous for their Holy Slash—a colossal Magic Sword Edge that descends from the sky.
Seeing that Mary recognized his identity, the Holy Order Warrior nodded with a smile. "You are correct. I am a Holy Order Warrior. I heard you had quality Healing Potions at a good price, so I came to inquire."
"So, are these for your personal use, or for your squad?"
"I’m merely the vanguard for the Holy Order Army. If you have enough in stock, I intend to purchase them for my entire detachment. They will be arriving here shortly."
Hearing this, Mary nodded, her expression unchanged. "In that case, you’ll have to wait two days. Our current stock is a little low, but it won’t be a problem in two days’ time."
