His Genius Wife is a Superstar

Chapter 1671: Training an Heir

Chapter 1671: Training an Heir

Shun continued reporting as he followed his Boss Hao, "The trainers are working the dogs at the obstacle course. The orange cat is running all over the place, annoying all the men—"

Lu Zihao waved a dismissive hand. "Just let it be. Popcorn is just a hyperactive, spoiled cat. Have someone play with it and tire it out."

"Understood, Boss Hao. Someone is also helping the fat, grey cat exercise. When it doesn’t want to move, the men tempt it with a taste of food."

"Did it lose weight already?" Lu Zihao asked.

"Yes, sir. But it’s still far from the vet’s recommended weight."

"Then tell the men to continue exercising it," Lu Zihao said, his tone devoid of any mercy.

And with that, poor Ice Cream’s fate of dieting and losing weight at his Uncle Haohao’s house was sealed.

"Where’s Little Jun?" Lu Zihao asked next.

"He’s at the field training with his master," Shun replied.

Lu Zihao nodded, feeling pleased. Little Jun inherited his mother, Jiang Ying Yue’s innate strength and tolerance for hard, physical training.

The little guy was a good seed.

Despite his sister’s clear disapproval, he still wanted someone to inherit Shadow Winds. Whether his organization could help him achieve his revenge or not was another matter. However, he had already invested a significant amount of effort in creating and developing the organization.

His first thought was cultivating his own sons. One of them should prove worthy.

Hopefully....

Lu Zihao felt a little worried as he pictured his pampered twin sons. Even he, as their father, knew that they were a little too fat. Even though Grandpa Lu kept on assuring him that the original Lu Zihao was also a fat little baby back then, he (Nikolai Vetrov) still couldn’t help but worry.

As soon as his twin boys had grown up enough, he would definitely start training them hard.

However, he knew that it wouldn’t only be his sister who would object. His wife would surely quarrel with him.

He was already having a headache just thinking about it.

Although he didn’t know the extent of what Long Jinjing knew about the true nature of his work, she should already have had a sense that it wasn’t completely legal.

Long Jinjing might be innocent most of the time, but she was far from ignorant. She was actually a very intelligent woman, as proven by how capable she was as Orchidia’s CFO. She might not be asking him all sorts of questions right now about his real work for the sake of her love for him and for their sons.

Even so, Lu Zihao knew that she would still probably kill him if he did anything to endanger their sons.

He wanted one of his own biological children to inherit Shadow Winds, of course, but at the same time, if neither Misha nor Dima proved to be worthy, it didn’t have to be either of them.

For a moment, he thought of his sister’s sons. If either Little Mochi or Little Matcha showed interest in following in his footsteps, even if his sister and brother-in-law objected, he would still take his nephew under his wing.

Then he imagined the attention-loving Little Mochi.

Uh, never mind that kid.

Next, he thought about the quiet and serious Little Matcha.

Maybe it could work?

But the child resembled his father too much. Jin Liwei wasn’t cut out to be a crime boss. If Little Matcha grew up to be like the version 2.0 of his father, then it wouldn’t work either.

Lu Zihao couldn’t help but sigh.

Finally, he reached the training field with Shun.

His eyes immediately zeroed in on Little Jun training. The boy’s master was one of Lu Zihao’s subordinates who directly reported to him. His subordinate mentioned that the boy had talent in close combat.

Lu Zihao watched with his muscled arms crossed over his chest. Even when an orange ball of fur jumped and landed on his shoulders and sat on his head, he didn’t bat an eye.

"Meow~" Popcorn patted his Uncle Haohao’s head, trying to attract his attention, but to no avail. Bored, the orange cat jumped down and began running around here and there, having the time of his life.

In just a few moves, Lu Zihao confirmed that Little Jun’s form and reaction time had once again improved since he last checked. He nodded, satisfied with the child’s progress.

If none of his own sons or his sister’s sons wanted to inherit his legacy, then he would just train Little Jun. Although the child still lacked the coldness and brutality needed to become a crime boss, training the child to be one wouldn’t hurt.

Lu Zihao didn’t disturb Little Jun’s training.

On the other end of the training field were several obstacle courses. The trainers were working with the German Shepherd dogs there.

One of the dogs limped, but its speed was only a beat slower than the other four dogs. Despite its handicap, it seemed to be more determined to outperform the others.

Lu Zihao nodded. Gravy was born to be a guard dog. It could still perform well, but it wasn’t enough to stay as its master’s main guard dog. It could only be relegated to a backup.

This was the harsh reality of guard dogs trained for combat. Even military and police dogs needed to be perfect or at least close to perfect in their physical forms, mental aptitude, and combat training. Most importantly, they had to be obedient.

Gravy had been an excellent guard dog. Unfortunately, it got injured, resulting in a bad leg. It might look like it could compensate for its bad leg through sheer determination, but Lu Zihao and the dog trainers all felt that letting it remain as Little Jun’s main guard dog was too risky, especially in an emergency situation. What if its bad leg acted up all of a sudden?

The little guy had also become someone Lu Zihao wanted to protect. He wasn’t willing to risk the boy’s life over any uncertainties, no matter how minuscule. Hence, he ordered a new guard dog to be trained and given to Little Jun.

The new guard dog, a German Shepherd puppy, was being trained separately from the others. It still hadn’t completely assimilated with the children’s original guard dogs yet.

Buster, Little Jun’s second guard dog, had already completed a rigorous obedience training program before it had been given to the child. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, Buster, as the main guard dog and Gravy, as the backup guard dog, should be enough to protect the boy. They would also help in the psychological healing of the child’s trauma after the kidnapping incident.

Lu Zihao continued watching Little Jun again. He seemed to have made a decision. He whispered something to Shun, who remained standing by his side.

Shun nodded before jogging to where his colleague was training the boy.

"Uncle Haohao?" Little Jun glanced and saw his uncle. He smiled and waved.

"Water break for five minutes," his master told him.

"Yes, sir!" Little Jun stood at attention before getting his water bottle and drinking. Then he began wiping his sweat. "Uncle Shun, did my Uncle Haohao just arrive?"

"Yes," Shun replied.

Little Jun nodded but wisely didn’t ask anything more. As he began training with his master more, he adapted the attitude of Lu Zihao’s subordinates.

Ask less, train more.

Little Jun might just be a very young child, but the kidnapping incident had forced the innate innocence of children out of him.

Everyone had already noticed that the boy started speaking more clearly and eloquently. The biggest credit was given to his psychiatrist, Dr. Grace Poon. As the doctor worked with the child, Little Jun seemed to grow more mature. He also became fixated on training to be a hero like his Uncle Haohao, who saved him.

Back at Lu Zihao’s side, his subordinate greeted him, "Boss Hao!"

"How’s the boy’s progress?" Lu Zihao asked.

"Long Jun’s physical form is excellent. He can endure harsh training. His mental resilience is also quite good. I don’t push him too hard, though, as he is still too young."

Lu Zihao nodded. He stayed silent for a few seconds before saying, "Give the boy more specialized training."

His subordinate was a little surprised but still accepted the order. "Understood, Boss Hao."

"Also, get him another instructor. For tactics."

Both Shun and Little Jun’s combat master were stunned. They immediately understood the implication of their boss’s words.

It seemed that they were about to start training an heir.

Both became serious, but before either could respond, Lu Zihao said, "Never mind. I’ll train him myself. Once he finishes his training, tell him to come to the house for lunch."

Then he left them and headed to the house. He glanced at his wristwatch and concluded that his wife should already be finished cooking lunch.

Although he was a little absent-minded, he still detected something blocking his way. If not for his self-control, he might have already kicked it away before checking what it was.

A fat, grey cat sat on the ground in front of him, blocking his way. It stared at him, glaring as if he owed it a million dollars.

Lu Zihao wanted to pretend like he didn’t see it. He tried walking around it, but the fat, grey cat just moved and blocked his way again. He could only sigh and scoop it in his arms.

"You damn, spoiled brat," he muttered under his breath.

"Meow." Ice Cream was finally satisfied.

Her inner clock for meals was terrifyingly accurate. She had been working out like a dog and felt exhausted. She couldn’t walk back to the house by herself. The evil person who exhausted her the whole morning was nowhere to be seen. She had been so utterly starving that she was about to die.

Thankfully, she saw her Uncle Haohao. She thought that it was only right for her uncle to carry her like a princess to the house and feed her.

When would her mommy and daddy come back? They were taking forever!

She wanted to go home.

She had more than enough staying in this hellhole.
