My Girlfriend is a Zombie

Chapter 1291: I Am the Messenger of Justice!

Chapter 1291: I Am the Messenger of Justice!

“Ah…!”

Another Falcon Member suddenly let out a miserable scream and tumbled down. But the others didn’t even glance at him, just rushed past his side. Their faces all bore a kind of desperate, self-abandoning expression… In less than two seconds, the people around them fell one after another as they sprinted.

“We’re at the corridor!”

But just as they got down the stairs, two more fell.

“Rat-tat-tat!”

A Survivor at the rear, face flushed red, frantically fired at the corpses nearby.

Only when he lowered his gun did he realize that now, only he and Chief of Staff Wang were left…

The entire Squad he brought had been wiped out without any ability to resist.

“They’re all dead…” The Falcon Member’s eyes had completely lost their light… Even when facing Zombie hordes or Senior Zombies, he had never felt so powerless. Their abilities, all their preparations, had been utterly useless here.

“Mr. Ling Mo’s methods are simply inhuman… Even more terrifying than simple Zombies. Because… he’s one of us, he knows exactly how to push us into true despair…”

“Listen, it’s quiet around us.” Chief of Staff Wang spoke up at this moment.

Unlike the Falcon Member, Chief of Staff Wang’s face was ashen, but he still maintained his composure.

“There’s still a chance! I still have backup plans ready! Even if everything that’s happened now has exceeded my predictions. I still have a chance to steer things onto the trajectory I want. It’s not over yet!” Chief of Staff Wang thought to himself.

“Quiet?” The Falcon Member’s reaction had become completely sluggish, but Chief of Staff Wang was right, the surroundings had suddenly gone quiet. No footsteps, no attacks. Only the lifeless corpses remained.

“Is the attack over?” the Falcon Member wondered.

“You, go take a look.” Chief of Staff Wang glanced to both sides and said.

At this moment, the two of them were just standing at the stairway entrance, but if they took one more step forward, they’d be able to see the situation inside the corridor.

But for some reason, the quieter the scene, the eerier it felt.

“Me?” A trace of fear involuntarily appeared in the Falcon Member’s eyes. But after a brief hesitation, he gritted his teeth, raised his gun, and stepped forward.

Everyone else was dead; his chances of walking out alive were basically zero, right? Even though he was forced to risk his life, deep down, didn’t he also harbor the thought of killing Ling Mo, killing those around Ling Mo, and living a peaceful life because of it?

In this environment, there was no right or wrong in such things…

“Thud!”

Just as the Falcon Member stepped out, mind in turmoil, a sudden warmth came from his forehead.

His eyes stared straight ahead… In the dim light, a Youth stood there with both hands in his pockets. If you looked closely, there seemed to be a faint, relaxed smile on his face. Such an expression was almost never seen in the human Camps under extreme survival pressure…

“Before the Cataclysm, I often wore this expression… Too bad, my wife never saw it, and I was already gone…” The Falcon Member’s mind flashed with one last thought. Then, with a “thud,” he fell backward. ꭆáꞐȪ฿ÈꞨ

Chief of Staff Wang looked at the blood hole in the corpse’s forehead and softly uttered a name: “Ling Mo.”

At the same time, he stepped forward and turned to face Ling Mo.

“Whoosh whoosh!”

Two streams of energy shot out abruptly, Chief of Staff Wang’s figure swayed left and right, then steadied himself again.

“Huh?” Ling Mo was a bit surprised.

His mental reaction speed was already extremely fast, and the psychic tentacles he released were at super speed. Plus, they were silent and invisible, making them hard to dodge except for mental ability superhumans. Although he was mentally prepared for Wang to be a tough opponent, the other’s astonishing sensitivity and physical reaction speed still caught him off guard.

But soon, he revealed a slight smile.

“You used this to save Roko before, didn’t you?” Ling Mo asked, his tone as if chatting with an acquaintance, though the content sounded anything but friendly, even a bit bloody. He was referring to Chief of Staff Wang blocking the Invisible Zombie Puppet’s sneak attack on the Rooftop.

“Hmm?” Chief of Staff Wang raised his eyebrows, and a strange look flashed across his calm face. He hadn’t expected Ling Mo to initiate a conversation, let alone in such a casual tone and manner. By rights, after organizing an assassination and scheming against him, Ling Mo should be furious upon seeing him.

Anger is good; if he’s angry, he’ll take the bait more easily…

But Chief of Staff Wang was extremely rational. After a brief silence, he replied in the same calm tone, “Yes. Mr. Ling Mo, we’ve finally met.”

“Heh… Given our positions, there’s no need for fake pleasantries, right?” Ling Mo said amiably.

Chief of Staff Wang, being mocked, didn’t show any anger. He simply nodded and said, “True, you’re a smart man. When smart people talk, there’s no need to beat around the bush.”

“Then let’s be direct. You went to such lengths to meet me face to face; it can’t be just for a duel, right? For someone in your position, your priority shouldn’t be personally killing me.” Ling Mo said with a half-smile.

“In my position?” Chief of Staff Wang shook his head. “Compared to Mr. Ling Mo, I’m far behind. And Mr. Ling Mo is mistaken; if the best solution is for me to fight Mr. Ling Mo, I would step forward without hesitation.”

Seeing Chief of Staff Wang’s righteous demeanor, Ling Mo couldn’t help but ask, “Do you have a personal grudge against me?”

“No. Although I’ve long heard of Mr. Ling Mo’s reputation, I also appreciate your help to the Camp. And for Mr. Ling Mo to venture alone in this chaotic, dangerous world, I personally admire you greatly. If it were me, I might not be able to do it.” Chief of Staff Wang said, then changed his tone and added, “But, from the perspective of the Camp, of all X City, even all humanity in this region, I must kill you!”

“What is this guy spouting so seriously!” Ling Mo’s heart skipped a beat almost instantly. Had his dealings with Zombies been exposed? If so, this guy could really pin such a big crime on him. Not just him-any human who knew might choose to do the same.

One race nearly wiped out by another, with one’s own family and friends killed, even mutated and brutally attacking them… And for survival, many had to painfully kill their mutated loved ones themselves… Such deep-seated hatred wouldn’t be erased or suppressed just because Ling Mo was a powerful fellow human.

But Ling Mo had thought about this countless times. After the initial shock, he quickly regained his composure.

He wouldn’t be exposed; he’d always been careful…

Even if exposed, nothing would change-it would still come down to a fight!

“So, you have a very righteous reason?” Ling Mo still wore a smile, but his tone was gradually chilling.

“Yes.” Chief of Staff Wang straightened up, staring at Ling Mo, “For the survival of these humans, you must die! It was you who destroyed Falcon Camp’s plan for human unity. If you hadn’t split off the Air Force Corps, now Miracle Base, the humans of X City would have already united. Compared to Zombies, humans are nothing but ants. If we want to survive, we must concentrate our numbers. Even so, we are still at an absolute disadvantage in numbers, and you know this very well. So tell me, shouldn’t we eliminate you?”

“…”

Ling Mo was silent for several seconds before his mouth couldn’t help but twitch…

Looking at Chief of Staff Wang’s righteous face…

“Is he possessed by the messenger of justice or something?”
