Chapter 1345: Who Guessed the Ending
On a tall building far from S Square.
That must be Falcon Camp over there, right? The largest human settlement in all of X City. These past few days, I keep seeing Helicopters flying over, so that Miracle Base must have already joined forces with them.” A tall, thin figure was standing at the unprotected edge of the Rooftop, motionless in the wind, gazing ahead as he spoke.
However, in response to his question, there was no reply from behind him. Only when he turned to the other figure behind him and asked, “What do you think, Zheng?” did he get a reaction.
That figure trembled slightly, then raised his head. Pale skin, a somewhat ferocious expression, and dazed blood-red eyes. Yet he seemed to only react when he heard his own name, but the tall, thin figure didn’t mind his silence, instead nodding in satisfaction.
“Not bad, you really are the best of this batch. Much better than the others, your Intelligence is almost completely unaffected, and your Superpower is still intact.” When he mentioned “the others,” the tall, thin figure’s gaze passed over Zheng, looking at the dozens of people-or rather, zombies-standing motionless on the Rooftop.
But unlike ordinary zombies, they stood still, expressionless, and utterly silent, more like dominated Soldiers. Most importantly, if Ling Mo were here, he would be shocked to discover that among this group was an old acquaintance of his…
“Number Seven, come here.” The tall, thin figure called out to this zombie. The zombie dragged its feet, slowly shuffling over. It also raised its head, fully revealing its stiff face. Unlike Zheng, it had even lost its own name.
“What’s the name of the human you hate?” the tall, thin figure asked.
Number Seven’s lips moved for a while, finally rasping out two words: “Ling… Mo.”
The tall, thin figure immediately laughed, though the laughter sounded rather hollow.
Just then, his gaze suddenly sharpened, looking toward a closer spot: “Summoning?”
Not only him, but the zombies behind him also looked in the same direction.
“Whoosh!”
A figure suddenly shot up from below, hovering in front of the tall, thin figure.
This figure in the air resembled a bat by seventy or eighty percent, but its evolution was clearly more advanced. The fleshy wings on its back were covered in sharp hooks, and when spread, stretched nearly five meters.
“Summoning. Go?” This Flying Zombie spoke very simply. Its voice was flat, as if reciting a book, clearly lacking in Intelligence.
Yet the tall, thin figure looked at it with a hint of respect… Such was the simple rule of the zombie world: strength through evolution was everything. As for the zombies behind him, though they exuded a terrifying aura, the tall, thin figure seemed to treat them like pets, which in a way further revealed their true identity.
Without hesitation, the tall, thin figure replied, “No need to go. We can’t complicate things right now.” Then he added, “If it’s a key companion, they should know not to get distracted now. Once we find out who did the summoning, they need to be punished. Might as well have them offer up their body and contribute some evolution energy to us.” At this, he couldn’t help licking his lips, a hint of ferocity showing. As for the possibility that this “companion” was being controlled, he didn’t even consider it.
Hearing this, the Flying Zombie simply nodded as usual: “The Spider Queen has made a move.”
“Then it’s time for us to act too.” The tall, thin figure didn’t seem surprised. He turned to the zombies behind him. “Number Seven, since the one you remember most clearly is that human, go kill him. Heh, by the time they realize something’s changed, it’ll be too late.”
The tall, thin figure smiled meaningfully: “They probably never expected this, but… as time passes, people’s thoughts change, let alone zombies?” Clearly, there was a deeper meaning hidden in his words…
He looked again into the distance, at those lifeless high-rises, buildings stained with blood, looking so different from before… Yet this seemingly dead world was true paradise for them… The destruction of humanity meant the rise of the zombies.
Ling Mo, after realizing the foreign zombies were still nowhere to be seen, fell into a brief moment of tension.
“Could it be the foreign zombies aren’t here?” Black Silk’s voice sounded in the Consciousness Web.
Before Ling Mo could reply, Xia Na spoke up to deny it: “That shouldn’t be. With such a commotion, we can all Sense it clearly, so they should be able to as well. Even if they didn’t get Ling-Ge’s summoning, they should’ve arrived by now.”
“Then maybe the commotion was too big, so they didn’t dare come?” Yu Shiran’s thinking was always simple.
Listening to their discussion, Ling Mo kept pondering. But no matter how he thought, he couldn’t figure it out, only feeling that there was definitely something he was overlooking, or didn’t know. 𝙍åƝ𝐨𝖇Е𝙎
Fighting both the Spider Queen and the foreign zombies at the same time, Ling Mo was leading the weakest group of humans. Of course, he didn’t rely solely on these human Survivors; most important were himself and the zombies by his side.
Watching as the surrounding zombies were all summoned by the Spider Queen, knowing that any Senior Zombie might end up like the bat, Ling Mo thought to himself, “Good thing I made preparations.”
Many Survivors could fight only when prepared, but to make yet another layer of preparations after all the others-something that required even more energy and manpower-was probably something only Ling Mo would do. He had no choice; with so many subordinates, if he didn’t have enough, he could always Control more zombie candidates. As for psychic power, he had plenty.
Even Ling Mo himself didn’t know how much psychic power he had, but he was sure it was enough for many things-this was just one of them.
“You never expected this, did you?” Ling Mo thought to himself, not knowing that a zombie had just said the same thing, just as smugly. In the end, who would really be caught off guard?
At the same time, on S Square, those cocoons had completely broken open. Over a hundred variation zombies stood quietly beside the Spider Queen, while the fighting among the zombies on the Square had reached a fever pitch.
Just a moment ago, the Square felt suffocating; the next, it had become a bloody Meat Grinder. Zombies kept falling, and zombies kept breaking through.
