Chapter 1365: Reincarnation Pond

Chapter 1365: Reincarnation Pond

Step by step, Yi Tianyun continued to advance. His pace was incredibly slow, sometimes taking several days just to move a single step.

Fortunately, he had plenty of time. There wasn’t much that needed his attention outside. Before coming here, he had already explained everything to Shi Xueyun, telling her he was entering seclusion for cultivation and would be temporarily unavailable.

If anything urgent came up, she could contact him immediately. But for now, it seemed nothing pressing would occur. Even though Heavenly Venerable Jian Si was away, he would notice if anything significant happened.

More importantly, Xiao Wu was there. With Xiao Wu guarding the area, who would dare make a move? If necessary, Heavenly Venerable Li Tian could flatten anyone with a single slap.

As time passed rapidly, Yi Tianyun’s soul strength increased steadily. Each time he felt stable and had some energy left, he would take another step forward.

“Ding! Soul strength successfully upgraded to God Monarch, 9th level!”

A pleasant voice chimed in his ear. His soul cultivation had now surpassed his actual cultivation by four tiers. Although he couldn’t simply dump experience points into it, the system still notified him of upgrades, it just wasn’t something he usually paid much attention to.

Soul strength had always been a critical aspect of cultivation, but due to its limited upgrade paths, Yi Tianyun hadn’t focused on it.

There were various ways to train the soul, most commonly through life-and-death tempering, which gave great results. Other methods included alchemy, forging, and most effectively, God Rune Master engraving.

Still, those upgrades were minimal and slow. Even after refining countless items, his soul level had only risen a few tiers, showing how difficult the process was.

When the soul couldn’t keep up with cultivation, it often led to inner demons and deviation. That’s why cultivators would train with special pills, forging arts, or soul-focused martial techniques, like illusions, to strengthen it.

Soul strength affected nearly everything, resisting inner demons, expanding divine sense, and more. For alchemists, it helped keep the mind steady and reduced mistakes.

Now, Yi Tianyun’s soul had been greatly enhanced here, it was like gaining a powerful opportunity. Normally, such progress was nearly impossible, so he was quite pleased.

This soul growth would boost every part of his abilities, especially his mental clarity during high-level combat.

“I have to keep training here before I leave. I can’t waste such a good place.”

Yi Tianyun had always been a cultivation fanatic. A soul-tempering holy land like this? No way he’d pass it up. So he advanced slowly, deliberately refining himself along the way.

Years passed in the blink of an eye. Yi Tianyun sat calmly at the far end of the Forgetting Worries Bridge, meditating and cultivating his soul. He only needed to take one more step to cross it, but he didn’t. He continued his training instead.

He could feel that more strength was within reach.

“Ding! Soul strength successfully upgraded to peak God Monarch level!”

After several years of cultivation, he achieved another breakthrough, his soul reaching its peak! It was no small feat, and yet here, he had accomplished it with ease.

Outside, such progress could take centuries, even millennia. But here, it had only taken a few years. It was almost effortless.

After the breakthrough, though, his progress slowed dramatically. Breaking through again might take several hundred, or even a thousand, years.

“Looks like this place only helps up to the God Monarch level. Once you’re at the threshold, it loses effect.”

Yi Tianyun didn’t feel greedy. He was already very satisfied. At least he had been able to strengthen his soul, something incredibly hard to do outside.

He then glanced to the side. During the years he had spent here, he had watched countless souls pass him by. They never stopped. Their pace would vary, sometimes fast, sometimes slow.

Once one finished crossing, the next would arrive. Always one at a time.

These souls never glanced at him. They moved forward with dull eyes and vanished into the small hut ahead.

“Time to move on.”

Yi Tianyun stood up and stepped forward. Effortlessly, he crossed the final distance. As soon as his foot touched solid ground, the oppressive feeling vanished completely.

“Ding! Special mission complete: ‘Reach the cultivation to cross the Forgetting Worries Bridge and seek the truth’! Rewards: 1000 compressed experience, 1000 compressed Frenzy Points, 1000 compressed proficiency, 10,000 compressed Sin Points!”

The moment he crossed the Forgetting Worries Bridge, the mission was completed, and he received a bounty of rewards, just in time, too, as he had nearly run out of those resources.

“Not bad rewards… a little plain, but still very practical.”

Experience and Frenzy Points were now common for him. What he was really hoping for were special rewards, like titles or weapons. Those were the true prizes.

His gaze turned toward the hut ahead. It was time to uncover the truth. He hadn’t expected to make it in this time, but he had, and the rewards were considerable.

He looked around. Besides this small hut, there was nothing else.

He lifted his foot and stepped inside. The interior was vastly different, wide and spacious like a divine temple!

Right before him were three massive pools. The souls entering the hut would choose one and leap into it, vanishing from sight completely.

“Pools?”

Yi Tianyun approached for a closer look. Each pool reflected a different scene. The first, the Heavenly World. The second, the Mortal World. The third, the Ghost World!

“Reincarnation Pond?” Yi Tianyun was shocked. Reincarnation existed, of course, but he had never seen such a complete system spanning the Three Realms.

These souls would unconsciously choose one of the three destinations to reincarnate into.

They no longer had any awareness, so where they went depended entirely on luck. Upon entering, they would walk forward, some veering toward the Heavenly World, others the Ghost World, or the Mortal World.

Everything flowed naturally. Some of the souls, he even recognized, ordinary civilians who had died and come here for reincarnation.

Reincarnation had always been a mysterious process, one beyond anyone’s control. Typically, people only became aware of their past lives after awakening fragments of memory, and even then, only vaguely.

Which God Territory or race a soul would reincarnate into was entirely random. That’s why Heavenly Venerable Slaughter God chose possession over reincarnation.

The bloodline wasn’t fixed, one might reincarnate into a weak and fragile body. In that case, recovering old memories would be the least of your worries, just surviving would be a challenge.

But here, things were different. The reincarnation region was fixed strictly within the Three Realms. It didn’t scatter souls all over the place. This alone astonished Yi Tianyun.

Although he had speculated something like this before entering, seeing it for himself was still deeply shocking.

This level of reincarnation was impossible to achieve outside. Yet here, it was not only functional, it was nearly flawless, without any apparent loopholes.

He watched as souls jumped into the Reincarnation Pond, only to be reborn shortly after, appearing as infants. From the pond, one could witness the entire reincarnation process unfold in the outside world.

Since these souls carried no memories, there was no visible difference or reaction.

“If I jumped in, wouldn’t I be able to reincarnate too?”

Yi Tianyun wondered if he could keep his memories intact and leap into the pond, reincarnating in a way more efficient than possession. With his memories preserved, starting cultivation from infancy would give him a massive head start.

However, this place didn’t let you choose your family, it was still a random process. Even so, it was already incredibly advanced.

Then, his gaze moved forward to a stone tablet standing upright, densely engraved with rules. A few lines, in particular, caught his eye and left him stunned.

One rule was extremely straightforward, Those above the Saint King level cannot reincarnate here.

Another rule, Souls not originally born in the Three Realms God Territory are forbidden from reincarnating here.

These two restrictions were decisive. The first one instantly crushed Yi Tianyun’s idea. It meant anyone at the Star Monarch level or higher couldn’t reincarnate through this system.

“So, it’s not as perfect as I thought. Reincarnation at will still isn’t possible unless you’re truly defying the heavens.”

Yi Tianyun shook his head. He had hoped that even beings of high cultivation could utilize this system, making death a trivial matter.

He imagined that even if someone died, their soul could enter here and be reincarnated. As long as memories remained, life would continue, even with poor talent. At least they’d survive.

But clearly, that was too naive. Not even a Ninth-Grade God Rune Master could create something that powerful. Still, being able to reincarnate any cultivator under the Saint King level was already a phenomenal achievement.

The floor was covered with intricate divine runes that extended outward, encompassing the entire area. Simultaneously, energy was being drawn in to sustain the Reincarnation Pond. Without this energy, the system would’ve collapsed long ago.

Aside from the pond, the surroundings were fairly empty, except for a passageway at the far end, destination unknown.

“I wonder what other secrets lie ahead.”

Yi Tianyun headed toward the tunnel, soon stepping into it.

As he moved through the corridor, images began to appear on the walls, scenes from every corner of the Three Realms, shifting constantly.

It was like a surveillance room, offering a view of the entire outside world.

“Is this an observation chamber?”

Yi Tianyun reached out to touch the wall. To his surprise, his hand passed right through it, into the space on the other side.

“You can pass through?”

Startled, he pushed his head forward, and easily phased through the wall, entering the scene that had just been displayed.

It was a snowy mountain region, exactly where the original Heavenly Jade Palace had been located. Snow still drifted gently through the air.

The old palace site had been renovated but now served only as a historical landmark, no one lived there anymore.

It had become a memorial, a way to remember how the Tianyun Empire grew from humble beginnings to its current grandeur.

From time to time, cultivators came to visit. It had become a tourist spot, complete with historical lectures that left newcomers in awe.

“Master, was the Heavenly Cloud Emperor really that powerful?”

“Absolutely. He was incredibly formidable. He turned the tide and saved the entire Heavenly Jade Palace. Without him, it would’ve been completely destroyed…”

“I’ll surpass the Heavenly Cloud Emperor and become someone even greater!”

“Shh! Don’t speak such nonsense! If someone hears you, you could lose your head!”

“Master, I didn’t mean it disrespectfully, it’s admiration! I want to become stronger, like the Heavenly Cloud Emperor, to protect the Three Realms! If I don’t aim to surpass him, then what’s the point? I believe he would want more powerful people to emerge, to protect the realm and rule the great God Territory!”

The disciple’s voice was full of passion and admiration. His eyes burned with the desire to surpass greatness, not out of arrogance, but deep respect.

“Smack!”

“Enough. Your intentions aren’t wrong, but don’t say that kind of thing aloud!” The master tapped the disciple on the head, warning him to watch his words.

Nearby companions gave the boy warning looks. In this world, even speaking carelessly about Yi Tianyun could bring serious consequences.

Yi Tianyun was regarded as a god now, speaking irreverently, even out of ambition, was considered extremely dangerous.

“Interesting…”

Watching from above, Yi Tianyun kept an eye on the boy.

The kid had low cultivation, only at the Spirit Refinement stage, but he was around ten years old and showed decent talent. What impressed Yi Tianyun more was his courage and ambition, not content to stay in the shadows, but determined to surpass.

He wanted more powerful cultivators to emerge, not to keep people suppressed out of fear of being overtaken.

Besides, who could match Yi Tianyun’s rate of advancement?

“Not bad. Once this is all over, it’s time to take on a disciple…”

Until now, Yi Tianyun had never officially taken a disciple. But now it seemed like the right time. A personal disciple could help manage his affairs, and help protect the Three Realms.

He withdrew from the wall. Everything was fine, and no one had noticed his presence. In fact, it was impossible to detect him.

After all, he was observing from within the very void of the Three Realms. From that vantage point, no one on the outside could possibly see him.
