Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4557: A Shattered Hope

Chapter 4557: A Shattered Hope

"Do you think that’s cruel of me...?" Fairy Xiu Juili added.

"It is cruel of you." Davis nodded, causing Fairy Xiu Juili’s heart to sink.

"- to not have gone further. You should’ve shoved a disownership scroll in his mouth and said, ’stop leeching off of me, your daughter, and cultivate hard to make a name for yourself using your own strength, you fat parasite.’ before leaving for the Astral Forgeheart Minor Realm."

"..." Fairy Xiu Juili’s expression blossomed, "Unfortunately, I couldn’t do that since he didn’t suppress me nor uplift me during my childhood. All things said, he is still my father, so I won’t harm him in any way, but if he comes looking for recognition or status, feel free to send him away. I don’t claim him."

"Good."

Davis further asked if there was anyone else she would like to be with in her family, and she shook her head, indicating that she wasn’t really close with anyone, not even her own personal maid.

"The saying is quite true- that snake-blooded people are fickle in nature. The number of genuine people you would see in my clan is extremely less. They are either gofers or still trying to make a name for themselves by working hard without taking any shortcuts. It’s a nightmare to traverse without getting caught up in schemes." She heaved a breath.

"Are you fickle?" Davis asked, his expression turning solemn.

Fairy Xiu Juili shook her head, "I’m cunning, but loyal. You don’t need to worry about me betraying as long as you don’t... abandon me."

"I’ll say the same thing. As long as you don’t betray me, I’ll never abandon you, no matter how rude you become, no matter how difficult you become to deal with."

"..." Fairy Xiu Juili’s twin pupils shimmered with a jade light. She was moved by those words since she always wanted her beloved to say that to her and keep a promise. She also knew she could be difficult to deal with since she didn’t prefer to reveal what she was thinking most of the time.

Only for this occasion did she open up because her desire for him eclipsed her self-protective nature.

Davis chuckled, "This is turning out like an arranged marriage arranged between ourselves..."

"Hehe~" Fairy Xiu Juili also giggled, "That’s what is called love marriage. We make sure we’re compatible with each other’s preferences while ignoring the risks like we’re foolish."

"You’re the one enduring the most risk by being with me. I apologize for being so provocative to the world."

"It’s fine." Fairy Xiu Juili shook her head, smiling lightly, "That’s one of your great points... what’s better than a man who is dangerous but kind and gentle towards his family?"

"It seems like you’ve observed me a lot." Davis inclined his head with his brows raised.

"I wouldn’t have come here if I wasn’t sure enough and decided."

Fairy Xiu Juili winked.

"..." Davis nearly became stunned.

He couldn’t describe how her eyes were a fatal attraction to him and many men. She was highly charming, but those mesmerizing eyes were on another level.

They continued to discuss many matters until they finally left.

With Fairy Xiu Juili having decided to leave the Heavenshade Clan, they first dropped by Rath Heavenshade.

"What!? You... you really..."

Ralaza Heavenshade looked dumbfounded as she looked at Davis and her friend as though she really hadn’t expected it.

Rath Heavenshade offered a forced smiled, "This is a bit troubling, but I pretty much expected it... Ever since the advent of the Divine Emperor of Death and his feats of nurturing his women, some women really think they can shoot even higher for supreme geniuses, but Fairy Xiu Juili’s standards are well deserved. You two are a match made in... a match made in this universe."

"You can use that term. It’s not like I have a personal vendetta with it, but if I do meet it, I’d love to give it a well-deserved spanking." Davis smiled lightly.

The expression of the Heavenshades froze, and even Fairy Xiu Juili’s eyes went wide.

They didn’t know a single person who would dare to say that against the heavens, as they would not know how their tribulations would react, nor did they want their tribulations to become like a punishment.

Besides, meeting the heavens? That felt like a mythical story.

As far as they considered, it was some sort of Will, the ’Will Above All’ in this universe.

Fairy Xiu Juili then offered a few Primarch Grade resources she collected by herself in the time she spent here, repaying the debt she felt she owed the Heavenshade Clan. That was all she had. Now, she was destitute but she took Davis’s hand, looking as though, shaking it with excitement as though she was finally free.

Davis was quite intrigued.

He had felt Fairy Xiu Juili to be regal and graceful, but she turned out to be the total opposite. She was wild and daring.

Ralaza Heavenshade’s expression faded. She walked towards her friend and took her hand, "Juili, if that’s what you decided, then I won’t say otherwise. Are you really sure?"

"Mhm~"

Fairy Xiu Juili nodded, smiling, "If you’re worried that I’m put under some kind of illusion, then don’t worry. No one can put me in an illusion unless they’re extremely powerful like Saint Davis, but he wouldn’t do it."

"You’re simply as confident as ever when it comes to illusion." Ralaza Heavenshade wryly smiled, "Alright, I’ll believe you in this matter. I also know he’s arrogant enough not to use illusions to topple a Celestial Fairy, so you two have my best wishes."

She said softly before turning to look at Davis.

"If you die halfway, I’ll kill you."

"Understood." Davis nodded.

Ralaza Heavenshade was taken aback by his acceptance but nodded, "Don’t let her go, or I’ll spend the rest of my life hunting you down and being a great hindrance. You need to make sure my friend never cries from now on."

"You can rest assured."

Davis nodded, "Juili is mine. No one can bully her, not even Evelynn and the others."

"Is that so...? Good." Ralaza Heavenshade lightly nodded.

She felt her heart clench before she gave a final nod at her best friend, "Take care."

"I will." Fairy Xiu Juili’s eyes teared up. She felt her cheeks turn hot from what Davis said, but her gaze was at Ralaza Heavenshade. She firmly held her friend’s hand, "I will never forget you for the rest of my life. You are my savior and my... sworn sister."

Ralaza Heavenshade’s eyes also moistened. Abruptly, they embraced each other, appearing like they didn’t want to let go.

However, it lasted for a few seconds before they let go of each other and nodded without saying a word.

Davis and Fairy Xiu Juili left.

Watching them leave, Ralaza Heavenshade remained standing in her place.

"Wai- why are you crying so much?"

Rath Heavenshade came closer and saw that his little sister was bawling her eyes out silently.

Ralaza Heavenshade bit her bottom lip, turning to look at him, "Brother, she... she left, and he... he also won’t look at me."

"..."

"I... I feel so wronged..." she trembled, her shoulders quivering.
