Chapter 4760 Velvetmoon's Charm
Davis's fingers twitched again.
A silken thread of intent, almost liquid in texture, slithered through the gaps in his consciousness and tugged at his Will, forcing- no, coaxing it to move towards Rioxys Plume's crystalline cup. The fragrant spirit wine of an unordinary nature shimmered under the lantern like molten moonlight.
Once the pill fell into the crystalline cup, it would make no changes.
Davis's arm shook, and his muscles tightened, forcing it in place.
His hand stopped moving… then shook, slowly crawling forward again.
"Brother Davis~" Rioxys Plume called out with fondness as she managed to catch a glimpse of his 'reluctance', "Do you want my drink? I shall pour more for you."
She waved her hand, getting a jug from the middle of the table, and she personally poured for him.
Davis regained control of his body and shot a cold glare at Fairy Velvetmoon before he forced a smile at Rioxys Plume. He openly moved his hand and caressed her hair.
"Rioxys, don't react strangely. Even if I die, don't make a move. Wait." He sent her a cryptic soul transmission.
Rioxys Plume paused but continued pouring the drink into one of his many cups.
She barely kept her brows from frowning. Knowing she exuded some strangeness, she took advantage of his touch and brought his hand down respectfully with a forced smile.
"I think our guest could be drunk already. I'm afraid the feast we brought is beyond his capability to digest."
Davis swayed ever so lightly in response to her statement, appearing drunk, "No, I'm not. I've… I've only been eating and drinking Empyrean Grade dishes…!"
"…" The male spirits glared at Davis as they coldly chuckled, their intent behind their gazes wishing that they could kill him for touching her.
Abruptly, a whisper of intent echoed inside his consciousness that translated into a word and a set of commands.
"Be obedient, little human…"
Laviua's voice wasn't spoken aloud. It crawled directly into his soul, bypassing his senses with the effortless elegance of a blade passing through silk. Her charm wasn't crude or forceful. It was precise, like a needle piercing through the very threads that made up one's Will and injecting a ton of information and charm.
Davis felt his vision blur. His mind dimmed, and his heart wavered. His hand neared the crystalline cup belonging to Rioxys Plume again while she wasn't looking. This time, an Exalt Spirit sitting two rows away from Rioxys even cast an illusion when he opened a dish and let the aromatic smoke escape, disallowing Rioxys Plume to see his actions.
They were so powerful in their methods that Davis would admire it any other day, but now, he was increasingly finding it difficult to resist that which forced him to a corner of despair.
*Crack!~*
Something shattered in his mind, a faint but distinct sound echoing inside of him, like a thin layer of frost shattering.
His hand quickly jerked back again.
Davis's pupils returned to focus, blazing with a harsh, suppressed light. Sweat ran down his spine, yet his back remained straight.
The nearby spirits barely glanced at him, thinking he simply adjusted his posture, while the ones who were in on this plan looked confused, wondering whether he was charmed or not.
But Laviua froze.
Her delicate fingers stopped midair above her bowl. Her lashes fluttered once as her charming expression quivered.
"…you broke it again?" she murmured in disbelief.
She shuddered, unable to believe the tenacity of a mere Immortal Emperor's Will.
As a Level Seven Exalt Spirit with a prowess that was six levels higher, she couldn't understand why she would fail to charm a mere Immortal Emperor even if he was previously charmed. No matter how strong he was, there was a limit to how long he could defend against her continuous burst of passive charm abilities.
By this time, she would've even invaded the previous charm and made it hers.
Even fellow Exalt Spirits wouldn't be able to resist her if she displayed her willingness.
For the first time in her life, Fairy Velvetmoon felt strangely offended. She had never gone out of her way to charm someone, as she didn't need to, but when she tried, it wasn't working. It was an insult to her very being.
Taking a deep breath, her bosoms rose and fell.
Her charming face lost its gentle smile, replaced with an icy smile.
Davis's heartbeat pounded like a drum. He felt that in no way could Rioxys Plume, who was sitting by his side couldn't hear it. However, she appeared unaware, faintly exchanging words with the other spirits with courtesy and disinterest.
The Velvet Allure Moon Spirit's charm was no ordinary temptation. It directly pressed into the softest, deepest seat of emotion inside one's soul. Men, women, beasts… it didn't matter. Her charm made the target Will love her. It wasn't as small as infatuation or as big as obsessions, but it shifted one's emotional axis, focusing everything on her.
Davis was barely keeping himself conscious.
Countless thoughts filled his mind: taking out the Malevolent Flesh Erasure fan and breaking the charm, exploding and summoning his vengeful and overbearing Ghost Will, or even using Fallen Heaven, his last resort.
However, he swallowed all of those thoughts, waiting to grasp that sensation that emerged within him.
'I want her love…' His mind whispered, countless waves hitting his soul in an attempt to make him fall for Laviua.
The remnant of her passive charm attacks still resounded in his soul, trying to drag down his Will. His eyes nearly glowed pink, reflecting the ability of the charm spirit.
When Davis raised his head to gaze at her again, Laviua's pupils gleamed with moon-pink radiance.
"You've left me with no choice. Now you shall be my eternal slave~"
A butterfly-shaped sigil of moonlight bloomed behind her head, soft, beautiful, and deadly. Her charm essence condensed, layer upon layer, becoming thick enough to distort reality itself that no one managed to sense it.
Her true ability unfurled as she unleashed her charm technique.
