Chapter 5139: Unapologetic Intrusion
Outside the Eighth Bastion City, Venerable Knight Lussandra was going to reenter after a period of ardent search outside.
But upon reaching the gates, she discovered that the city had been in a state of martial curfew and was still on alert even after it had been lifted because of the strange yet terrifying incident between the Hayden Family and the Miredon Family. However, the reason for the curfew made her lips nearly twitch.
It seemed to have happened soon after she invaded the City Lord’s Palace for the second time.
She asked the reason for the enmity between the two families, but they asked for her identity plate.
Upon declaring her identity and revealing her heavenly aura, she was allowed entry into the city. They were going to answer her, but at this moment, a black-robed man also landed beside her.
"Any luck?" He asked.
"Nothing." Venerable Knight Lussandra shook her head, "I’m also keeping an eye on the Sixth Bastion City and the Twelfth Bastion City in case the Heavenly Blight Hall attacks again. What about you, your eminence?"
"Still chasing them. One trail led me here. I think it’s the ghost. However, this ghost is extremely conniving since it leaves multiple trails, and only one of them is correct. It’s a pity. If I had more avatars, I could catch up, corner, and quickly catch it. It’s formidable since I suspect it’s also using a powerful treasure, perhaps a replica. On the other hand, the Heavenly Blight Hall’s member dissappeared into thin air. Most likely, the Leader of the Heavenly Blight Hall is also here."
"..." Venerable Knight Lussandra’s bosoms heaved, "The Divine Emperor of Death is definitely here in this realm somewhere."
"Highly possible, so don’t give up."
The Supreme One raised his hand and patted Venerable Knight Lussandra’s head, causing her to flick his arm away.
"Whoa, my little Lussandra seems more irritated than I’ve ever seen. What happened?"
Venerable Knight Lussandra stared at him. A few seconds later, she said hesitantly, "It’s the City Lord of the Eighth Bastion City. He’s a complete misfit, a farcry of a leader he once was, devolving into the likes of no different than these conniving hydras who engage in corruption, plunder and crimes against women. It’s not just him. I realized the twelve cities are full of them at the higher positions, which means the innocents wouldn’t be able to live well."
She raised her head and gazed at the Celestial Transcendent, "Do we even need to protect these vile people from disasters?"
The Supreme One momentarily paused. He gazed at her with concern: "It’s not like you haven’t seen these things before, so why are you particularly fixated on this at the moment?"
"I... I failed to save an innocent woman whose eyes sought help, but her mouth said that she didn’t need any help. In the end, I left her to suffer because I prioritized finding the Desolate Divergent."
"Tell me more about it."
The Supreme One raised his hand and patted her head. This time, she didn’t deflect him. His hand had always been a source of familial warmth to her.
The two of them walked into the city, leaving a bunch of guards dumbfounded.
Who the heck was brave enough to pat the head of a Venerable Knight like they were some child!?
In an inn, the two of them sat, eating some spirit porridge served by a poor owner.
Looking at the porridge with no meat, Venerable Knight Lussandra hesitated before helping herself to a few spoons while the Celestial Transcendent looked as though he couldn’t have enough of it.
"Another serving, please."
"Coming up~"
He gestured for her to continue.
After some time, the Supreme One kept the bowl down, placing it over a mountain of bowls before suppressing his burp. Licking his lips, he said softly.
"You continue your search or help me monitor these three trails, one leading to the central area where the City Lord’s Manor is, one leading to the north gate as it heads to the Ninth Bastion City, and the other leading to the place where the vile Saint is said to have occupied. I’ll go to the City Lord’s Manor and see if I can save that innocent woman on the way."
"What do you mean?" Venerable Knight Lussandra asked.
If the Celestial Transcendent wished to save someone, who could stop them?
"Little Lussandra, destroying is easy, but saving someone... that’s ridiculously difficult no matter the cultivation base."
"..."
"Also, the clash between the two families in this city and the resulting casualties they had from the fight are significant for them, but the way they were affected by a hex is incredibly suspicious."
Venerable Knight Lussandra nodded, "The hex is similar to that of the Evilbane Hexweaver Arachnid and a few other beasts and creatures, particularly the Trigon Blood-Eye Calamity, a Void Calamity. But there’s no way we’d miss a creature of that size, and the battlefield at the Galaxy Wormhole is increasingly becoming full of resentment and blood karma is gathering as much as it is being corrupted, so chances are that the Asura Dimension might’ve opened somewhere nearby, perhaps a crack."
"Perhaps, but why hasn’t anyone here seen an Evilbane Hexweaver Arachnid? Those things are bloodthirsty and aren’t really proficient in hiding. Could it be that a single Empress-Tier Evilbane Hexweaver Arachnid appeared? That’s one heck of a smart arachnid, capable of weaving three different hexes. I still remember fighting one as a youth. Still gives me the shivers."

"..."
The two of them went silent before the Supreme One stood up as he paid the tab to the inn owner, not giving more, not giving less, before he made his way out.
Venerable Knight Lussandra watched him leave before she looked at the half-filled porridge bowl again.
There were many thoughts in her mind, but the most prominent was that the fondness of someone looking after her, similar to when she was a child, wasn’t bad.
She stood up and headed to the north gate, silently wishing the ghost had killed the Saint before she could get there. Then the ghost would also be trapped. The ghost should be useful in its own way, since if it really did own a replica of death, then chances are that it could attract the Divine Emperor of Death.
The Celestial Transcendent made his way to the City Lord’s Manor as he ascended. He directly sensed the trace of death energy leaving the palace, but he didn’t stop, still breaking into it. His body was encompassed in chaos, and he simply slipped through it like he was energy before landing within the palace.
"Who goes there!?"
A furious voice resounded, likely from the City Lord, but he paid no heed and investigated the traces.
He found near one what looked like a secret passageway and another that led through the balcony.
He knew both of them could be false as the ghost was repeatedly using mirage ghosts to leave fake trails, and it wasn’t just in one subsequent trail but in the leading trails. It had even gotten him into a beautiful Primarch lady bathing in the waterfall outside the city, but fortunately, he knew concealment arts, so he was able to leave scot-free.
He knew this damned ghost would lead to the City Lord just so he would disturb his nightly affairs, but he was precisely here to disturb the City Lord’s nightly affairs. Therefore, he turned and looked towards the bed.
Beyond the curtains, the shadow of a man sat on the bed while a woman seemed to be behind him, her hand on his shoulder, appearing to massage or seek his protection, as he could see her quivering.
*Bang!~*
At this moment, the doors to the master bedroom were struck open, and the Steward came running.
"Die!"
He immediately launched an attack, his energy gathering over his palm, but he dropped to the ground before he could even realize it, directly fainting. The maids, particularly secret combat maids, and the guards also dropped to the ground.
"You- who are you!?"
Came a panicked voice beyond the curtains, "You dare offend a City Lord!? Do you want to die!?"
The Supreme One had directly revealed his undulations, which reached the layer limit. The others all fainted from sheer soul pressure. On the other hand, he didn’t find it odd that the City Lord was panicking like a fool. He didn’t care, for his target was-
"Lady, I presume you’re Jillian Hayden?"
"...!?"
After a brief pause, a measured female voice echoed, "What do you want?"
The Celestial Transcendent responded with his hand still behind, "Don’t worry. I’m here to save you on behalf of Venerable Knight Lussandra. You could say that I’m a direct subordinate of the Supreme One, so I can get you out of here easily as well as decimate this entire city if I so wish."
"..."
"You- you are the Supreme One’s subordinate...?"
"Don’t believe him!" Echoed a horrified voice from the City Lord, "I have seen him before and know of his voice. He’s the Supreme One himself!"
"...!?"
It was not only Jillian Hayden who was stunned but also the Celestial Transcendent.
He blinked before nodding, "That makes things easier then. Indeed, I’m the Supreme One."
"..."
Jillian Hayden still looked stunned. Her pupils quivered as she removed her hand from Davis’s shoulder and looked at him.
Davis also turned to look at her, his gaze enigmatic.
However, he didn’t keep looking at her anymore as he returned his gaze, took a silent breath as he concealed all of his senses, aura and intent to make sure he came off as City Lord Kain but also to make the quickest retreat or punch a hole in the event that a battle broke out.
He could barely hide the excited expression oozing out of his face.
