Chapter 5171: Revisiting The Tribulation Site
Davis eventually met up with Laphria, Jaiyan, and Qiyra above a mountain hidden by Laphria Rinmei’s natural powers that was no different than hiding in plain sight. It was as though a massive, elusive concealment formation had been erected outside.
"Have they left?"
"Yes," Fairy Qiyra Darkstar answered in a cold voice, "You took your sweet time enjoying your stay in the City Lord Manor."
"Haha... everything was for a reason..."
Davis chuckled lightly.
There was no way he could say he had nearly fought a great war on the bed.
He turned to look at Laphria Rinmei, Jaiyan, and Fairy Divinacia and saw them nod.
Davis’s heart was heavy. He wished everything would go smoothly for Evelynn’s entourage.
Evelynn’s group consisted of Wisteria, Epsila, Lereza, Illumina, Glacia, and non-combatants such as Jillian Hayden and Zevonn Malark. With the loyal rabbit and the Frostcloud Sword Empress with Evelynn, he didn’t feel the need to worry, but he still couldn’t help but worry.
Even with his avatar remaining with Evelynn, he just wanted to grasp her hand and bring her back home.
As a cultivator, he couldn’t be anymore proud, but as a husband, he just wanted to abandon everything and bring her back home to safety’s embrace.
The risk was just too high, and the regret was setting in at the last moment. He wasn’t even worried about his own plan having a chance of failure.
Davis heaved a heavy breath and said with a forced smile.
"Let’s finish our plan fast and go help them, and then we will all escape together. Are you all ready?"
Everyone nodded except Fairy Qiyra Darkstar, who still glared at him as though she was unconvinced.
"How confident are you?"
Davis steadied himself and smiled calmly, "I have practiced and confirmed the principles of imposing my Will. I’m more than confident that our plan should succeed unless there’s an unknown factor involved."
"We’re going to face the unknown, and the entire plan involves reversing the unknown’s influence."
"..." Davis shrugged, "Don’t be pessimistic, Fairy Qiyra. That’s the exclusive domain that helps me rule out most dangers heading our way."
"As long as the unknown factor doesn’t overpower our power and influence, it shouldn’t cost us much. The Sky Word Language was etched into the universe, allowing nearly all races across the galaxies to be able to communicate smoothly. This feat could also be re-enacted by me as long as I reach the Sky Word Emperor’s cultivation base before he died sacrificing himself. In terms of Law Intent, we are at the same intent. Only, my cultivation base and comprehension of runes are inadequate. However, for a Desolate Era birthed from my Empyrean Tribulation, it is more than adequate. If anyone is unable to believe me, then believe in the power of our human race, the power of Enigmatic Heart Laws."
He cupped his hands and bowed towards them.
He was thankful that they even decided to follow him here, much less stay in that temporary mansion, while biting their fingers with suspense and fear because the Celestial Transcendent and Venerable Knight Lussandra was roaming around.
He had faced the Celestial Transcendent quite a few times in his tribulations, so he was only excited to face him in real life, even at the risk of being sealed.
But for the others, it was no different than asking for death.
He understood them very well.
"..."
"Believe in the power of the human race, huh?" Jaiyan laughed, "That’s quite reassuring, isn’t it?"
"Ahahaha~"
Laphria, Fairy Divinacia, and Davis laughed.
Humans were one of the most fickle races in the entire universe. Sometimes, even Hydras could be believed over humans, but it was because the humans were more sophisticated, they collectively managed to birth a Phyletic Law known as Enigmatic Heart Laws, which sought the essence of understanding and of being understood.
"I’ll believe you over that. Let’s go."
Fairy Qiyra Darkstar said coldly before taking off.
Davis looked at her with a stunned expression before following suit along with the others. He waved his hand, and the Temporal Voidplane Ring allowed them to cross vast distances.
Fairy Divinacia raised her hands over him and then simply provided him with endless pure heaven and earth energy.
Davis felt like he had ascended to the heavens, almost as though he had unlimited energy.
It was a good sensation considering he was always rejected by heaven and earth energy and needed to use other forms of energy absorption methods to absorb them from the air- not that it was much considering there was nearly no energy outside.
Some places could barely support Immortals.
This was an Upper Realm!
However, it couldn’t even support the Immortal Foundation cultivators. This was why everyone ran to the Sanctuary Cities.
Nonetheless, judging by his own rate of absorption, he felt like he would need a few decades to reach Level Nine Empyrean Stage, but at this rate, Fairy Divinacia might need to take some rest after a few days.
Unless she was his slave, he could forget about making her sit behind him every day and supply him with energy.
Besides, a few decades was only his initial estimate. It could well go on for a few centuries.
Only consuming heavenly resources and digesting higher-grade pills was the best way to improve his cultivation, other than consuming High-Level Exalt Grade and above primal yin like Illumina’s.
If he took Illumina, he had no doubt he would reach Level Seven Empyrean easily, even if his cultivation base ended up being unstable. However, he could instinctively sense fate throwing a tantrum over it, so he could only take it step by step.
Even more funny was Tia.
Currently, he sensed more danger from wanting to have her than Illumina, even though Tia’s cultivation base was less.
This made him believe that it would result in an innate transformation in his soul’s physique, like when he experienced with Myria for the first time. It wasn’t visible before Tia said it, but now, he could tell.
His sensations for premonitions had improved by a vast margin again upon entering Level Four Empyrean Stage, just like how his Will had undergone an improvement, or perhaps both were related.
Soon, they arrived at the tribulation site where he, the Divine Emperor of Death, had undergone tribulation.
The ground was literally gone, a huge cavity remaining in its place.
The skies were still painted dark red, desolate air looming like the harbinger of calamity. Millions of lightning bolts lit up the skies and even the abyss.
An enormous vortex of dark-red clouds revolved slowly above the crater, spanning nearly the entire horizon. Even after all this time, remnants of heavenly might lingered there, causing one’s soul to tremble instinctively.
Crimson lightning coursed endlessly through the clouds.
Some bolts descended into the abyss without warning, exploding with deafening roars that caused the entire region to quake. Others moved like serpents, weaving through the skies as if searching for a target that had long since vanished.
Violent winds carrying destructive intent swept across the crater.
Every gust contained traces of annihilation, extinction, poison, destruction, and even heavenly judgment. Ordinary cultivators would likely have their meridians torn apart merely by circulating their cultivation here, but stepping into the eye of the storm and basking in the thick, desolate aura could also bring them inevitable danger, as they might find themselves affected by divergence.
Soul senses were also distorted under the immense pressure from the higher order of powers.
The further one’s perception extended into the abyss, the more chaotic it became.
*Rumble!~*
An angry roar echoed from the skies as they began swirling faster into a vortex, as though forming a tribulation. However, there was no such sensation for the people underneath it.
"I swear it wasn’t like this when I left..."
Davis uttered with a blank expression.
He felt like he had walked into the depiction of hell somehow.
Before the others could respond, a feminine yet cold voice echoed.
"You’re here as I expected."
"...?"
Davis lowered his head and looked into the abyss, where a blue-robed silhouette stepped out from one of the caves in the abyss. He blinked, "Fairy Runalise, what are you doing here?"
