Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5231: Yama’s Breakthrough?

Chapter 5231: Yama’s Breakthrough?

Purple-white clouds rolled across the skies, thundering with a vague rumbling of good times.

But despite the auspicious nature of the atmosphere, the Galaxy Wormhole Battlefield was still covered in a heavy killing aura with dark clouds rolling beneath the purple-white clouds. Raindrops containing impure yin energy fell from the skies, seemingly carrying a cadaveric aura that seemed to have accumulated from countless corpses.

They pattered against the ruined earth, scorched lands, and shattered space.

The ground had long since ceased resembling a battlefield. Mountains were split apart from a single punch, plains had collapsed into enormous craters from the clash between two powerhouses, and deep ravines stretched across the land from a single overwhelming technique.

Broken armaments and shattered artifacts lay half-buried nearly everywhere, their spiritual glow receding or extinguished along with their owners.

Remnants of camps constructed with formations that had shattered were now all silent.

Blood had seeped so deeply into the earth that even the rain could not wash it away.

Instead, the falling water mixed with it, forming dark crimson streams that flowed through the cracks and descended into the depths of the battlefield.

*Rumble~*

Lightning thundered across the skies once more.

Purple-white radiance briefly illuminated the world, revealing countless silhouettes moving far in the distance.

The war seemed to have entered a state of silence as the both sides seemed to have decided to take rest with only a few fronts still engaged in skirmish, but the fact that it was bleak for the Hydra Galaxy’s forces still didn’t change, so they were all being gathered by their own generals, perhaps planning to help the Hell Hydra Monarch recover from the Celestial Transcendent’s trap.

Beneath all that chaos, there was a black-white scythe that stuck to the ground at the front lines where no soul seemed to remain since the battlefield had been pushed forward, nearing the Galaxy Wormhole as the Human Galaxy pressed forward against the Hydra Galaxy’s forces.

Most of its long shaft lay buried beneath the rubble, leaving only a portion of its curved blade exposed.

One half possessed a darkness so profound that even the surrounding shadows seemed pale beside it, while the other gleamed with an immaculate whiteness untouched by the filth surrounding it. Where the two met, faint strands of black-white energy occasionally intertwined before disappearing into the blade.

The black-white curved blade appeared to be a work of art. There was a deeply curved blade on the other side of the rod, which had a similar composition but was smaller than the main blade. These two blades were molded at the tip of a white rod curled with a snake-like coil. The rod was an amalgamation of three different refined ores. It worked as the foundation for the armament to improve on its own.

There was no overwhelming aura.

It simply remained there, silent yet palpitating.

Heavy footsteps approached through the rain.

An ox beast burst through the shattered terrain, stumbling down the slope of the ravine.

Its small body was covered in wounds. One of its horns had been broken at the base, its armor was split apart, and several bloody gashes ran across its thick hide. The insignia engraved upon its battered breastplate identified it as nothing more than a captain or something similar among the beast armies that had been slaughtered above.

It appeared to be a Dark Goldhorn Mountain Ox, a Great Saint Magical Beast. It appeared to be a Peak Empyrean Beast.

Somehow, amidst the onslaught that had swallowed its companions one after another, it had survived. It even went as far as to decrease its size to the utmost limit possible as it became the size of a human. It swallowed its pride to survive.

However, it still lacked the smartness to turn into a human and blend.

The ox beast staggered forward, breathing heavily as steam poured from its nostrils.

"Haa... haa..."

Its trembling legs nearly collapsed beneath it, but terror forced strength back into its body. It searched the battlefield for something that could allow it to evolve.

It could smell it, its mouth turning watery.

There was something that attracted it here.

With a flick of its head, it stared at a mound and managed to find it!

A human corpse with an intact dantian! It could sense the metallic essence from the lower dantian to the upper dantian.

It knew in an instant that this human had some kind of metal physique.

The human corpse’s energy was dispersing, but it was a slow process, so it wasn’t worried, but as though it had chanced upon a supreme treasure, its nostrils flared as it rushed towards it.

However, it suddenly came to a stop halfway as it turned to look to the side and noticed a scythe.

It opened its mouth, seemingly wanting to say something as its expression turned into one of terror.

However, it simply fell to the side and collapsed, raising a breeze of dust.

Its eyes went dull as a single wave of resonation caused its soul to collapse.

Even as a Level Nine Empyrean Beast, it was unable to survive a small wave of resonance from Yama, who was still a Peak-Level Empyrean Grade Scythe.

Davis gazed down at it from the skies, his eyes narrowing.

Yama lay dormant, but it was completely full.

It appeared to be unable to breakthrough to the Exalt Grade, as it seemed to have hit a hard limit. Davis guessed this couldn’t be avoided, as the ore it was used to upgrade was only at Immortal Emperor Grade at best. Even with the traits of the Immaculate Sovereign Subsuming Ore that allows for it to grow as long as he could provide it enough essence that it craved, its growth had hit a limit.

For an Immortal Emperor Grade Immortal Sovereign Subsuming Ore, even an upgrade into the Exalt Grade should be possible in theory, although the energy it would take would be massive; but it seems as though the problem was that Yama was just too powerful.

"It’s incredible that this scythe’s prowess has reached seven levels higher. One might think it’s a legacy armament, but even a legacy armament isn’t this strong. Even in the Exalt Grade, as long as it doesn’t accidentally break during the ascension, then it should be able to retain six levels of prowess."

"Of course, it has been nurtured by my soul all year round for more than a decade, ate a lot of deathly air from graveyards, feasted on Nether Devils, swallowed nearly all of the deathly air from this frontline battlefield, achieved Level One Obscure Intent in Phyletic Laws of Scythe, so it better be strong, or I’m shelving it again," Davis said sternly.

"It might be one of the very few scythes in the world to have comprehended Level One Obscure Intent in Phyletic Laws of Scythe. But it’s a pity since it seems like it can’t enter the Exalt Grade."

The Celestial Transcendent uttered with some emotion, displaying a rueful smile as though telling Davis it’s a shame.

"Heh." Davis scoffed, "I have my ways to improve it again."

He turned to look at the battlefield, thinking this was just the appetizer, and when he returned and learned Forging Arts from Sophie and personally reforge Yama due to the difficulty involved, it would reach a whole new level of strength!
