Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5264: Deciding On The Political Marriage

Chapter 5264: Deciding On The Political Marriage

Davis informed them of the matter between him, the Celestial Transcendent, and the strange political marriage proposal regarding one of his sons and Madam Wesley, who was one of the inheritors of the blessings from the Ancestral World Hydra Spirit, which is supposedly called the Eternal Ocean Nine-Headed Hydra, from what he had heard recently.

He managed to hear bits and pieces of the conversation between the two giants since they weren’t really holding their tongues and let their voices boom out.

Nonetheless, the marriage proposal itself seemed to be orchestrated by Clara, so he felt somewhat better about it, not that he was going to accept it.

"In essence, that Wesley girl is important to the Six-Headed Hydra Upper Realm since it is karmically connected with the Hydra bloodline after all those years of Hexadra Clan ruling it. Bringing her into the Davis Family will only cement our position within the realm as rulers, but you know me. I don’t approve of this marriage with a married woman for my son. What do you think?"

"I didn’t kill that insolent girl who slighted my Azariel’s heart, but you’re now considering marrying him off to a married woman?"

Evelynn glared at him, her pupils sharp as swords.

Davis shrugged, "I’m asking you. You’re the one who said he’s not up to the huge task, so bringing this girl to him should aid him in this endeavor. Even without her, Clara will help, but I don’t think she’d be overjoyed at the prospect of having to defend a family that doesn’t listen to her words. At the core, she’s an empress, a cold, emotionless ruler who I have reshaped to heed the emotions of others."

"It’s been three hundred years for her, and you still trust her?" Evelynn furrowed her brows with some worry.

"..."

Davis paused for a moment before sighing gently, "Perhaps that’s what the Celestial Transcendent is also testing me on or trying to drive a wedge between us so when the time comes to seal me, she wouldn’t grieve. Ultimately, this is for her own good. In the end, at least, our non-Divergents must feel safe. I do not want them living under my shadow, worrying about being eradicated at any time. We won’t leave any grounds for their persecution, and at the same time, if they dare to persecute them, we Divergents will make sure nothing of the crusaders are left behind."

Davis flicked his sleeves sharply and clenched his fist. The sound of space cracking within his fists echoed visibly, making a few others hold their breaths.

Evelynn pursed her lips in consideration.

Indeed, her husband wasn’t the one to swallow defeat and endure unfair terms. The fact that he was agreeable to the idea of placing Azariel underneath the Celestial Transcendent’s purview could only mean that he found it advantageous, but the risk was also equally high.

She was well aware that before Azariel could mature into a World Hegemon-level powerhouse like Realm Master Malzor Hexadra, it would be very difficult for Azariel to maneuver. Moreover, as Azariel approached the peak of the absolute layer limit of this Second Layer, he might be forced to step down.

The Celestial Transcendent could maintain perpetual power over the realm through this maneuver.

If she could understand this, how could Davis not? How could Azariel not?

Yet, she sighed gently, knowing they would still choose this path.

She held Davis’s hand lightly and sent him a physical soul transmission.

"I trust Clara. Her blood is still in the formation that discerns the truth of a matter. She could karmically trace it back and lead the Heaven’s Warriors down to us, but the fact she isn’t could only mean that she is still on our side."

"Indeed, but I wouldn’t be so sure. Let’s see if she does that after the non-Divergents separate from us. However, we won’t be sending all of them at once. Let Azariel win, bind the Realm Core, break into the Alpha Exalt Stage, and then become a World Hegemon expert through the Realm Core’s power. It should take him no more than ten to twenty years. We will provide him with all the resources he needs beforehand."

"Mhm, Azariel’s cultivation speed is not lacking. Before I came here, he had already surpassed me in cultivation base."

"Right?" Davis chuckled proudly, "You don’t need to worry. Before we send him, I will personally oversee his cultivation and bloodline improvement. By that time, he might even surpass most of your sisters or become as powerful as you in terms of prowess."

His words caused Evelynn to smile sweetly as her base prowess was already thirteen levels higher, but it froze as she recalled what bloodline improvement meant in Davis’s language.

"You’re not going to... experiment on him, are you?"

"..."

Davis kept his smile, soft and eerie.

Then began another whole session of Evelynn protecting her son from going insane from his father’s expectations that suddenly increased.

Eventually, Evelynn agreed, but it hinged on Azariel agreeing in the end. As for Madam Wesley, they naturally did not want their son to marry a married woman, or even marry someone pure in that kind of situation, as it was fated that it would become messy.

They didn’t know who this Madam Wesley was, so how could they trust her even if Clara recommended her?

They decided that Azariel winning the Realm Core by himself was the right course of action. If it didn’t work, then it was all the more relieving for them since they could be together even in death. The wives and children would be of the same opinion, but Davis definitely wasn’t since he wanted them to have a normal life devoid of being hunted by the entire universe!

If he was sealed, then they were all doomed.

Evelynn was aware that he was making arrangements for something which he wasn’t telling. She imagined this concerned the Reincarnation Dimension which he and Myria were always wary of. They attacked in ways that couldn’t be seen, and she still vaguely recalled that they came to their family and left like the wind.

They couldn’t be underestimated at all.

Davis shook his head after he sighed, "I thought you would be afraid after that encounter with the Hell Hydra Monarch, but you’re something else, worried about your son who hasn’t even reached this realm yet."

"How can I be afraid with you here?" Evelynn said with an embarrassed smile

She was extremely afraid, but with Davis by her side, she didn’t feel that way anymore. She was more worried about her son, who now seemed to be fated to endure numerous hardships.

After everything concluded, Davis finally remembered Ophirya Kaelis was still here.

He asked her to teach him the technique she used to detect the karmic gazes overseeing them or the space around them.

Ophirya Kaelis revealed a wry smile, "I’m afraid you could not cast this technique since it stems from my bloodline as a Dreamsilk Karmic Usurper Serpent. However, if you still wish to learn, I won’t deny."

"Yes, please."

"You’re too polite."

Davis adopted a learning attitude as he walked away with her. So what if the bloodline didn’t match? He had his own ways of learning a technique, like he molded the roach movement technique to his needs. As long as he learned the basis and understood the necessary requirements, he was confident of devising his own technique catered to his powers.

He also had Saint Riyal Mendez’s Divine Technique to comprehend, but he wasn’t in any hurry to learn during the treasure hunt. For a technique of such complex nature, it would surely take a few days or even a week or two if he was fast, months if he couldn’t understand heads and tails of it.

Meanwhile, Evelynn and Lereza finally tallied the treasures that had been brought aboard.

Fairy Qiyra Darkstar brought six treasures while Jaiyan and Davis also gathered six treasures, all of them Low-Level World Hegemon Grade Treasures. Four mature ones and eight immature ones.

This was already twelve of the thirty-four.

Even with a small estimate of four treasures each for the other two teams of Fairy Glacia Frigidveil and then Davis and Illumina, it amounted to roughly twenty treasures, which was a significant harvest!

Evelynn and Lereza rejoiced as they gazed at the treasures in the tightly sealed jade containers, knowing their family would once again strengthen to a frightening degree.

Although some of them might be given to Saintess Lunaria’s disciples as Davis had promised two months ago, not to mention they had taken part in harvesting them now and earned significant merit, it was still a major haul.

It was worrying how they would divide the treasures, but since they had given them to Davis for safekeeping, it must mean they trust him, so gathering them as much as they could was of the utmost priority.

Evelynn raised her head, looking at the ceiling as she wondered if Davis was returning or finished entrapping a rabbit for a feast.
