Chapter 2340 Meeting the Enlightened One
While Yuan spoke with Jing Ruye at his guest house, Patriarch Sun made his way to the Celestial Hall. Before entering, he opened the scroll with Yuan's message in it and read it.
"Ask your 'Heaven' if it knows Zaaran…?" Patriarch Sun tilted his head with a puzzled look on his face after reading Yuan's message, unable to comprehend it.
'Is he looking for someone?' he wondered inwardly.
After making sure the message didn't contain anything malicious, Patriarch Sun entered the Celestial Hall, a massive building located on a floating island in the skies above the Holy Continent.
Upon arriving, Patriarch Sun walked down the hall until he reached the end and stood before a double door exuding divine aura and an otherworldly presence.
Without saying a word, he kowtowed on the ground and bowed to it—to the person inside.
Then, he stood up and placed Yuan's message on the mountain of messages that were already piled up not far away.
Before leaving, Patriarch Sun bowed toward the double doors again.
As he turned and took two steps, the doors behind him slowly opened. Patriarch Sun froze, turning toward the doorway as a bright, divine light poured through, almost as if there was a sun inside the room. A moment later, a silhouette stepped out from the radiant glow.
"Enlightened One." Patriarch Sun greeted him with a deep bow of reverence.
However, the Enlightened One completely ignored him and made a gesture at the mountain of messages, moving them inside his room.
A moment later, he spoke in an authoritative voice, "How are the preparations?"
Patriarch Sun immediately responded, "The preparations are going smoothly with half of the families out there supporting your goal now."
"In that case, proceed to the next step. I want the entire world to bow before me by the end of the year! This is Heaven's Will!" "As you wish…"
Without another word, the Enlightened One disappeared into the light again, and Patriarch Sun left shortly after.
Inside the Celestial Chamber, the Enlightened One began reading the messages at random. Most of them prayed to him, while some prayed for blessings from Heaven.
Eventually, he reached a certain message.
"Ask your 'Heaven' if it knows Zaaran?" The Enlightened One immediately frowned upon recognizing the name Zaaran.
"Which bastard sent me this message?!" he exclaimed.
After a long moment of silence, the Enlightened One activated a certain communication technique.
"Bahrah! We have an issue here! Someone is aware of your existence!" The Enlightened One revealed to the unfathomably massive silhouette before him as the starry sky surrounded them.
"I don't see how that is an issue," said Bahrah.
"What if they try to interfere with our plans like Zaaran did?" The Enlightened One replied.
"Hahaha!" Bahrah laughed out loud. "Zaaran? He's too stupid to ruin my plans. In fact, I was the one to provoke him first, and he fell for it like the idiot he is."
"I-Is that so…?" The Enlightened One wore a dumbfounded look on his face.
"This individual must be the one who stopped Zaaran's invasion. If anything we should be thanking him for saving me some energy."
"What should I do about him?" The Enlightened One asked.
"Nothing… No, I want you to try and recruit him. If I had someone like him under me, our plans will undoubtedly proceed much smoother."
"Y-You want to recruit him?!" The Enlightened One exclaimed in shock.
He opened his mouth only to quickly close it without uttering another word.
'Fuck! What about me? If I recruit that bastard and Bahrah favors him more than me, I could be replaced! I don't want to risk that!'
The Enlightened One was worried that his position might be replaced, but he didn't dare to voice his concerns out loud. "I… I will try," he said after a moment of silence, lacking the courage to reject Bahrah.
A few days later, Jing Ruye asked Yuan, "How long do you intend on staying here?"
"You won't get any approval from the elders by sitting around all day, you know."
"I don't really care about their approval," Yuan calmly replied.
"What…? Then what will you do if you cannot join the family and are forced to end your relationship with Sister Rouxi?"
"Even if they are her family, they have no authority to dictate whether I can be with her or not."
"Do you intend on fighting the Sun Family?" Jing Ruye was speechless.
"If I have to."
"..."
Jing Ruye went silent, dumbfounded. Just as she opened her mouth, a knock sounded at the door and interrupted her thoughts.
When she opened the door and saw who was standing outside, she hastily spoke, "T-This servant greets the Patriarch!"
"Is Tian Yang here?" Patriarch Sun asked.
"I am." Yuan responded as he approached the door. "Need something from me?"
"The Enlightened One has summoned you," he said with a solemn look on his face.
"That was quick," Yuan replied with a calm smile.
"He said this was urgent and that you needed to meet him right away."
"Take me to him." Patriarch Sun nodded and led him to the floating island above the Holy Continent.
"Who is Zaaran?" Patriarch Sun suddenly inquired.
"So you read my message, too."
"I had to ensure the contents weren't malicious or offensive," he calmly explained.
Yuan pondered for a moment before responding, "I can tell you about Zaaran, but there is a price to pay."
"What do you want for that information?" Patriarch Sun asked, misunderstanding Yuan's words as wanting payment for such information.
Yuan chuckled and said, "It's nothing like that."
"Whatever the price is, I don't care. Just tell me." Patriarch Sun insisted.
Yuan nodded and said, "Zaaran is an Eternal—a God who lives beyond this world."
Yuan wasn't worried that Patriarch Sun might die since he was a God Realm cultivator and had plenty of longevity to sacrifice. He also wanted to confirm if Patriarch Sun needed to sacrifice his longevity to learn this information as he did.
