Chapter 2379 Nether Wraiths

Chapter 2379  Nether Wraiths

"Blood? Are you hungry?" Lev misunderstood Supreme Ruler Dena's random demand and asked. Unlike humans, who could completely replace food and water with spiritual energy, demons lacked such an ability due to their heavy reliance on blood-based techniques. To strengthen or replenish their blood, they needed to consume meat or drink blood.

Fortunately, if they did not use any blood techniques or seek to strengthen their blood, demons could survive for far longer without food. However, doing so would essentially cripple them, as they would be unable to grow stronger or even fight properly.

Because of this weakness, the food resources of the Demonic Realm had grown incredibly scarce after billions of years of overhunting, leading to a widespread shortage.

Nowadays, only nobles and powerful demons were able to enjoy meat and fresh blood. Ordinary demons like Lev and everyone else had no choice but to resort to cannibalizing one another.

The Demonic Realm had tried to curb the problem by suppressing birth rates, but the demons' immoral nature made such a solution short-lived. Eventually, they turned to harsher rules and ruthless enforcement to reduce their population.

However, one day, they discovered that they could send their people—or more specifically, the Forsaken who had been abandoned by the Demon God—into the boundless void. As a result, living conditions in the Demonic Realm improved significantly. Of course, this gave rise to another problem, but it was not something they became aware of until a certain someone appeared in their world and caused havoc.

"I doubt we'll be able to find any within the Demise Ravine, since there are only spiritual beings here," Lev continued.

Hearing his words, Supreme Ruler Dena turned to look at him.

"D-Don't tell me…" Lev swallowed nervously, suddenly wondering if she intended to consume him instead.

Although demons possessed endless regeneration and could theoretically sustain themselves by consuming their own flesh or that of others, such a thing was not actually possible—as though the universe had anticipated this loophole and corrected it in advance. Because of this, the only way for a demon to strengthen itself or satisfy its hunger through another demon was to consume that demon's core, an act that would inevitably result in the other demon's death.

"I haven't consumed another demon for billions of years now. Why would I want to consume you?" Supreme Ruler Dena remarked.

"..."

Lev opened his mouth but quickly closed it without uttering a word. He wanted to say that she'd consumed countless demons within the Deprived Crimson Valley over the course of billions of years, but he decided not to question it. Of course, Lev was unaware of Supreme Ruler Dena's situation with the curse. He wanted to ask Yuan about what happened between them and why the crimson sea suddenly vanished with Supreme Ruler Dena acting like she wasn't even responsible for it, but decided not to question it.

Yuan then spoke, "I'll let you consume my blood later, once we find a safe place to sit down."

Without a word, Supreme Ruler Dena suddenly unleashed some of her aura and proceeded to punch the mountain beside them, creating a massive hole in it.

"We can do it here," she calmly said afterward.

"..."

Yuan and Lev stared at her with dumbfounded expressions.

"You…! Why did you do that?! That definitely alerted the Nether Wraiths!" Lev cried out loud. "We need to leave immediately before we're swarmed by them!"

Yuan rubbed his eyes and let out a sigh. "Dena, you really need to stop acting before you think…"

The next moment, ghostly wails reverberated throughout the ravine, sending chills down Lev's spine.

"T-They're coming!" he cried out loud.

"Let's go."

Without hesitation, Yuan surged forward. Lev hurried after him, with Supreme Ruler Dena following close behind, a slight pout still on her face.

However, they weren't able to get far before a dozen Nether Wraiths surrounded them.

These Nether Wraiths possessed a spectral appearance, their semi-transparent bodies drifting through the air like human figures shrouded in crimson veils.

Although these beings possessed no discernible presence, a subtle aura still lingered around them, revealing their cultivation at the peak of the False God realm.

"Oh my god! There are so many of them!" Lev exclaimed in a terrified voice.

Yuan retrieved the Demon Devouring Sword and wanted to try devouring them. However, in the end, the Demon Devouring Sword could only devour demons.

"What are you doing?! Nether Wraiths are immune to physical attacks!" Lev, who thought Yuan wanted to fight using his sword, loudly explained.

"I know. I just wanted to try something." Yuan calmly replied.

'If they're anything like the corrupted souls in the Shadow Realm…'

With that thought in mind, Yuan suddenly unleashed a tremendous amount of Soul Strength, causing a profound pressure to blanket the entire area. It startled not only the Nether Wraiths but even Lev.

But he didn't stop there and continued to increase the output. Soon, the Nether Wraiths quickly began screaming in agony, their shrill wails echoing throughout the ravine. A few seconds later, their figures began to fade, as if they were being erased from existence itself.

Yuan's Soul Strength had reached an unfathomable level after cultivating for trillions of years during the phenomenon. Of course, he had not received its full benefits, but even so, it had improved so drastically that it had surpassed what even Cultivation Gods could achieve.

"Hm? That was it? They're a lot weaker than I anticipated," Yuan remarked after killing all Nether Wraiths without even lifting a finger.

Lev could only stare at him in awe.

"Just what the hell are you? That amount of Soul Power… I have never felt anything that powerful!" he commented.

In the Demonic Realm, Soul Strength was called Soul Power.

Even Supreme Ruler Dena was looking at him with her eyebrows slightly raised, seemingly surprised.

"That power is not something a first-level False God should possess," she spoke a moment later, before asking, "How did you train your Soul Power?"

"How? I cultivated it normally," he calmly replied.
