Chapter 2384 A Black Mountain
"I'll let you drink as much as you want, too," Supreme Ruler Dena suddenly improved her offer when Yuan took a moment to ponder, worried that he might refuse.
'Unlimited blood?!' Lev nearly fell from the sky in shock after hearing her once-in-a-lifetime offer. Countless beings in the Demonic Realm would be willing to do anything for such an opportunity, yet Supreme Ruler Dena offered it so casually in exchange for Yuan's blood. This only deepened Lev's curiosity about its taste.
"Alright, I'll accept your offer, but I doubt I will need too much of it—"
Before Yuan could even finish his sentence, Supreme Ruler Dena dug her teeth into his neck and began sucking again.
Fearing that he might fail to control his urges, Lev sealed his sense of smell and stopped looking at Supreme Ruler Dena feed on Yuan, pretending they no longer existed.
This went on for several weeks until the Queen Wraith of Demise slowed down.
Of course, Supreme Ruler Dena fed on Yuan's blood until she was completely full, which took a little over two weeks.
"We'll arrive at our destination soon," said Queen Wraith of Demise.
Suddenly, the atmosphere changed, and the air became noticeably heavier.
Lev and Supreme Ruler Dena frowned when they sensed this aura, and they came to a complete halt.
"This feeling…" Lev trembled. "Chaotic Essence, huh?" Yuan mumbled after sensing what was clearly Chaotic Essence in the air. Not only that, but it was an immense amount.
"Sorry, but this is as far as I'll go," Lev said. "This is the same energy from the Corruption Shower. If I get too close, I'm afraid I might turn into a Forsaken."
Yuan nodded, not blaming him in the slightest. "I understand. You can stay here and wait for our return."
He turned to look at Supreme Ruler Dena and asked her, "What are you going to do? Want to stay here, too?"
However, she shook her head and said, "As a Supreme Ruler, my resistance to this sort of energy is much higher."
Yuan raised an eyebrow at this revelation.
"Is that how it works? Does that mean Supreme Rulers cannot turn into Forsaken?"
"Not necessary. It just means we're less likely to do so. However, we've never had a Supreme Ruler turn Forsaken, as we're essentially the Demon God's envoy."
"Makes sense," Yuan nodded.
"But I am not sure that I want to risk it. If you turned into a Forsaken… even I won't be able to stop you."
"If I stay here, that means you'll be with the Queen Wraith of Demise by yourself…" Supreme Ruler Dena said with a slight frown on her face.
"I'll be fine," Yuan said with a confident smile. "If you say so."
Yuan continued following the Queen Wraith of Demise, while the others stayed outside the Chaotic Essence. However, it wasn't just Lev and Supreme Ruler Dena who were forced to stop—even the ordinary Nether Wraiths halted their advance, clearly against their will, as they released wails unlike anything heard before, as if declaring their concern for their queen.
Seeing this, Yuan finally understood why the Queen Wraith of Demise had to enter a vessel.
'So these beings are weak against Chaotic Essence too, huh?' Yuan noted to himself.
As if she could read his thoughts, the Queen Wraith of Demise suddenly spoke out loud, "Not only are we weak against this sort of energy, but if we get too close, it will absorb us."
"Absorb you…?" Yuan muttered with a puzzled face.
He had no idea that Chaotic Essence was capable of such a thing. However, this wasn't necessarily a bad thing. In fact, it was quite advantageous for Yuan, who could wield its power.
Of course, the Queen Wraith of Demise wasn't aware of this and unknowingly revealed their weakness to the worst individual possible.
After traveling for several more days, Yuan suddenly spotted a black dot on the horizon. As they approached, it gradually came into view, revealing itself to be a massive black mountain. However, once they got close enough to see it in detail, it became apparent that the mountain was not made of stone but of an unknown material resembling obsidian.
Moreover, it was clearly the source of the Chaotic Essence, and the amount it emitted was unlike anything Yuan had ever experienced before—even during his time as Tian Yi, the Immortal Monarch, who was most familiar with Chaotic Essence.
In fact, even if he combined all of the Chaotic Essence that he absorbed from the Chaos Coins he'd amassed inside the Primordial Realm, it still wouldn't come close to the amount contained within the mountain.
Just how much stronger would his Chaotic Essence become if he were to absorb all of it? Yuan almost started drooling at that mere thought.
"Isn't it about time you tell me what you need my help with? I can assume it has something to do with that mountain, right?" Yuan said as they got closer.
The Queen Wraith of Demise nodded and said, "This object appeared out of thin air—or more specifically, fell from the sky—several billion years ago. When it first appeared, it was barely larger than a boulder. The energy it emitted wasn't particularly remarkable at the time, but it grew stronger and larger after absorbing some of my children who got too close out of curiosity."
"Once we realized it could absorb us and turn us into its own power, I forbade my children from approaching it. However, it continued to grow stronger and larger during a certain phenomenon."
"Let me guess… the Corruption Shower," Yuan said.
"Correct." The Queen Wraith of Demise turned to look at Yuan and spoke with a serious expression. "If this continues, this object will eventually take over our territory and threaten our existence, not to mention those living outside."
Yuan fell silent for a moment before speaking, "You clearly know that demons like the two following me are afraid of this energy, so why did you ask me to help you? Weren't you concerned that I might also be too afraid to get close and refuse to help?"
