Chapter 2562: Custom Match

Chapter 2562: Custom Match

Yuan and Gu Kecheng were both teleported to a snowy arena, surrounded by towering white mountains, their knees buried in soft, pristine snow. Not only that, but there was an ongoing snowstorm so extreme that it blurred their vision.

’Whiteout! This is my favorite map!’ A wide grin appeared on Gu Kecheng’s face after seeing his most experienced arena.

This map not only hindered one’s movement and vision but was also bitterly cold. Because of its extreme temperature, it was considered one of the most hated arenas available.

However, Gu Kecheng enjoyed the cold and had always won on this map, so his doubts vanished instantly.

The falling snow did not just block one’s vision; it also had a unique characteristic that messed with one’s divine sense, making it more difficult to find people.

As for the thick layer of snow on the ground, it reached their knees.

’Whoever makes the first move wins!’ Gu Kecheng thought as he focused entirely on locating his opponent. In an arena like this, the first to find the other usually claimed victory.

Ten seconds... twenty seconds... half a minute...

An entire minute later—

’What is going on?! I cannot sense him at all!’ Gu Kecheng cried inwardly.

Normally, even the slightest movement would produce a sound in the snow. Yet, Gu Kecheng could not hear a single sound.

’Is he also standing still? Then I just need to find him using my senses. With my superior cultivation, there’s no way he could find me before I find him!’

Although he had already been trying to find Yuan using his divine sense from the very beginning, he wasn’t completely focused on it.

Suddenly, a calm voice resounded, and it came from directly behind Gu Kecheng.

"Are you going to stand there all day?"

"?!?!"

Gu Kecheng was greatly startled to hear Yuan’s voice so close to him.

’When did he get behind me?!’ he exclaimed inwardly.

Despite his shock, Gu Kecheng immediately spun around and unleashed a wave of Limitless, blasting everything behind him away. He poured so much power into the attack that it dispersed half of the snowstorm temporarily and even obliterated an entire mountain.

Gu Kecheng expected to be teleported back to the waiting room with the victory notification before him soon, but his expectations were betrayed once again when Yuan’s voice returned.

"Where are you aiming? I’m right here."

Once again, Yuan’s voice came from behind Gu Kecheng—only this time, he sounded even closer than before.

"Fuck!"

Gu Kecheng cursed out loud as he attacked in the direction of Yuan’s voice.

"..."

"That was close. You almost hit me," Yuan’s voice continued to provoke him.

"Stop messing with me, you bastard!" Gu Kecheng screamed loudly.

"So you want to lose already?"

Before Gu Kecheng could respond, he felt someone pressing a hand on his shoulder, sending chills down his spine.

"You’re dead!"

Without looking back, Gu Kecheng swung his arm, creating a massive arc of Limitless that tore through the air like an unstoppable blade.

Yet, Gu Kecheng could still feel someone’s hand resting on his shoulder.

’What the hell am I fighting?! A ghost?!’ he cried inwardly as cold sweat formed on his forehead, only to freeze moments later.

"You’re not any better than my previous opponents. No... You might be even worse..." Yuan sighed, sounding disappointed.

Gu Kecheng trembled in anger before his aura exploded like a bomb.

"DIE!"

He roared and unleashed as much power as he could, releasing Limitless in every direction.

"..."

For a brief moment, silence filled the white world. The only sound that remained was Gu Kecheng’s heavy breathing.

"D-Did I finally get him...?" Gu Kecheng mumbled, his vision blurred from exhausting all his energy.

However, a black silhouette suddenly appeared not far in front of him, slowly approaching him like a ghost.

Gu Kecheng wanted to attack again, but he had completely exhausted his energy and could only watch helplessly as the silhouette drew closer and closer.

"Weren’t you watching those two Gladiators fight just now? Yet here you are, wasting your energy and blindly attacking."

"W-Why can’t I sense your presence even though you’re standing right in front of me...?" Gu Kecheng asked with a bewildered look on his face.

"Try to figure that out yourself."

Suddenly, the silhouette vanished before Gu Kecheng’s eyes.

A split second later, his vision went black.

Before he realized it, Gu Kecheng was back inside the waiting room with a notification before him.

<You have died>

"Argh!"

Gu Kecheng fell to his knees while screaming as a searing pain erupted from his neck. Although one could not die within Gaia’s Sanctum, one would still feel the pain of it.

Meanwhile, Yuan returned to the lobby after winning the match.

When he approached Officer Mei and the group gathered around her, they all stared at him with wide eyes.

Unbeknownst to Yuan, his custom match against Gu Kecheng had been broadcast on the display at Gu Kecheng’s personal request.

Although Gu Kecheng could not find Yuan to save his life, everyone in the lobby had witnessed the entire match. From their perspective, Yuan had been teleporting around like some kind of ghost.

"W-Was that some kind of movement technique?" Officer Mei asked him.

"What?" Yuan raised an eyebrow.

"We saw your match," she explained, pointing at the display above them.

"Oh. Well, I wouldn’t call it a movement technique, but it’s something like that, I guess."

"H-Hey! I will buy that technique from you for 500 Gaia Points!"

Someone in the crowd suddenly shouted.

Yuan turned to look at him and responded with a calm smile, "Sorry, but it’s not for sale."

He then said to Officer Mei, "I am going to see what I can purchase with Gaia Points."

She nodded.

"I’ll take you there."

However, just as they started walking, a familiar face blocked their path.

"Stop!" Gu Kecheng shouted.

"What do you want now?" Yuan asked him.

"R-Rematch! I want a rematch!" Gu Kecheng demanded.

"Sure..." Yuan calmly responded.

A smile started forming on Gu Kecheng’s face, but it swiftly vanished when Yuan continued, "Once you have more points to give me, that is."
