Chapter 4555: Patients
"Have you taken something half a year ago and then tried to make a breakthrough?" I asked, and immediately a surprise appeared on her face.
Her cheeks reddened, and she looked down.
"I had brought a concoction from the travelling alchemist. He said, " It will give me the boost I need for my breakthrough," she replied softly.
I wanted to sigh, but I did not; I could understand why she did that.
She is a woman in her middle age and still at Early-Primary-I. Most people at her age reach the mid-level, but she did not, and it left her desperate.
They are ordinary people, but that doesn’t mean they don’t want to advance.
They, too, have dreams and ambitions and make foolish decisions, just like everyone else. Including me, who had made hundreds of foolish decisions that had nearly killed me numerous times, that I can’t even remember.
"It was the single worst decision of my life," she added softly, and tears started to stream down her face.
"Don’t blame yourself, Miss Dina. It is a bad decision. Everybody makes it." I replied to her gently. She looked at me, with her searching, thinking I might be mocking her, but she didn’t find any judgment there.
"So, can you heal me?" she asked, with her filled with desperate hope.
"I am sure the other healers would have told you already. The solution you had drunk was faulty, and on top of that, it contained high energies," I said, and she nodded.
"It had stuck to your veins and crystallised. It is what is causing you the pain," I added, and she once more nodded, with her becoming more desperate.
"There is a way, but whether it would work will depend on you, Miss Dina," I stated, and her face shone with a bright hope.
"Really?" she asked, and I nodded.
"It won’t be easy or painless, but if you persevere. You will be able to get rid of the energies and the pain that it is causing you," I replied.
"You are not giving me a false hope, are you, doctor?" she asked.
"The process is going to take four to six months, depending on your efforts, but you will see the results in ten to fifteen days," I replied.
Before she could say anything, I took out a glass bottle filled with oily blue liquid and opened the large glass bottle with the grey pills.
I took out the fourteen pills from it into another glass bottle, before picking up a blank booklet.
In it, I begin to draw, and before writing. It took me a few minutes before I turned to her with the things.
"In the booklet is the exercise you will have to do in the morning. It would be best if you do it, right after waking up," "Take a drop of the liquid and pill, before starting an exercise," I instructed as I handed things to her.
"Will it really work?" she asked nervously. "It depends on you, Miss Dina. If you are consistent and follow the instructions," I replied with a confident smile.
It will work; the medicine I gave her will purify the energy crystals so she can absorb them.
The alchemist had given her faulty medicine, but didn’t lie about the purpose. If she followed the instructions consistently, she might even be able to make a breakthrough in the end.
Though, as I had said, the progress would depend on her efforts.
"I will," she replied with her voice filled with conviction. I smiled and helped her off the bed. She looked at me once, the last time, before she walked out the door.
’It was a good patient,’ I thought when the door opened, and Mira peeked in.
"I will send another patient," she informed. "You don’t have to come every time, just send in patient after the first one leaves," I said to her.
"Ok," she replied with her cheeks flushing.
Another person had appeared while I was checking up on the woman.
A few seconds later, a teen boy of around fourteen walked inside. He is a half-elf and is wearing peasant clothes. A little thin, with pale blue hair and blue eyes.
He is handsome, but right now quite nervous.
"Please take a seat," I said, with a pleasant smile on my face. This seemed to make him a little better, as he smiled. "Thank you," he replied and sat down in front of me.
"What can I do for you, young man?" I asked. He doesn’t look sick, but I didn’t look too closely.
"I am going to imprint the inheritance in a week. I want to know whether I am completely ready," he said nervously. ’Ah, the consultation,’ I thought.
It is also a healer’s job; there are experts for that specifically, but healers do it too.
We are much cheaper than those experts.
The young man is intelligent, despite his financial condition. He had come to the healer to check his state; not many would do that; they would imprint the inheritance.
"Sure, lay down the bed," I said to him. He nodded and lay down on the bed.
I appeared beside him and placed my hand on his hand. A few seconds later, a faint frown appeared on my face. Next, I placed it on his head, stomach, and legs.
I did not have to perform a ritual, but it is necessary to reassure them and convey a sense of genuineness.
"Everything is good," I stated as I finished, and I could see relief appearing on his face. "Though, there is one thing," I added, and his expression changed drastically.
"What is it?" he asked, scared.
"It’s not a bad thing. It’s a good thing," I replied, and he looked at me nervously. "You have Grade I, water constitution," I stated, and shock appeared on his face.
Grade I constitution is the lowest level one and quite common. Still, looking at his expressions, he looked like he won a big lottery, and it could be said that, given this place.
"Truly?" he asked.
