Chapter 4559: Yes!
"Guildmaster," I greeted the man as I stopped in front of me. The man didn’t reply; he just kept looking at me.
"Healer Ross, we finally met," he replied. It’s clear that he is not pleased. Well, I can’t blame him; it is kind of my fault for avoiding all guild invitations.
"I wanted to come to the guild, but the clinic is new, and many things have kept me busy," I said.
It’s obviously an excuse. I didn’t want to go to the guild; it was just out of time, but I didn’t want to say that to a man’s face. Though looking at his expressions, he didn’t believe it one bit.
"We have sent you an invitation every week, and you didn’t have time to attend even a single week?" he asked, with a faint anger leaking from his voice.
Though a moment later, his expressions eased a little. Seeing Mira shaking.
"Attending at least one guild meeting is mandatory, Healer Ross. I hope you will attend the one that is tomorrow, or your license will be suspended," he stated and walked away.
I could easily wipe his memory, and everyone here’s memory, putting false memories of me attending the meeting, but I would rather not do that.
"I heard the Guildmaster of the Healers Guild is Primary-II, only a step away from reaching Primary-III," said Mira with her eyes filled with hope.
"He will reach Primary-III," I replied to her surprise.
I looked at the man, and he would succeed, even if he tries today. He even went further in the stage; he had taken something a few months ago, which had time smoothed his path.
Though the sovereign is still far, he has a bigger chance than most Grade II in the city.
She looked at me, but there was no surprise. She had gotten used to the things. That she no longer becomes surprised by them.
Though I could tell, she has a lot of questions.
She has a pretty good idea by now which type of questions I answer and which type I don’t.
We moved through the store, buying things we needed in the quality we needed. It is not easy to get into a small city like this.
Still, I don’t mind looking at a young girl’s face. She didn’t mind it either, given how her eyes shine with curiosity as we visit the stores.
"Mira!"
We had just stepped out of one of the stores and were moving toward another when a voice came from behind.
We turned and saw a young, pale blue stonekin girl. Behind her are a man and a woman, likely her parents.
"Orav!" Mira replied and moved toward the girl. The young girl is likely her friend.
"What are you doing here?" asked Mira. "I come to look at inheritances," replied the other girl, looking at the big black stone building in the middle of the square.
The building hosts public inheritances. Not all people are accepted by the organisation or the government; they use the public inheritance.
It is the same system on the continent.
"Oh," said Mira, with envy flashing in her eyes, before she put a smile on her face.
"Have you chosen?" she asked a moment later, but the other girl had shaken her head. "I am still trying to get into Mirage Blades. If I didn’t succeed in recruitment in two weeks, I will select the inheritance," replied the other girl.
They talked while I exchanged a few words with the girl’s parents. Finally, Mira finished and said goodbye.
"I wish my veins had matured. I would have tried for the Mirage Blades as well," she said in a barely audible voice with her eyes turning distant.
"I thought you would be more aligned toward professional organisations," I said, and she let out a laugh.
"Their requirements are strict enough that even if my veins turned out better than I am expecting. It still would not be enough to get me through the door," she replied.
I wouldn’t be so sure. The things I am giving her every week are transforming her.
From her physique to her soul to her veins, I might have used lower-grade things, but the result they would bring would shock everyone on the island.
"Your inheritance must be good," she said, turning to me. "It is," I replied with a grin.
I am very proud of my inheritance. The one I had not personally worked on in over a month. Hell, it’s been weeks since I entered my core.
The girl looked at me; there was no envy, but hope.
"Could you teach me some healing arts?" she asked again; she had earlier, but I didn’t reply other than smiling. "I only need basics enough to get into the organizations," she added hurriedly as if fearing I would decline.
"What kind of inheritance do you want?" I asked. I could see surprise in her eyes and some disappointment, as once more I had not answered her request.
"My biggest dream is get a healing inheritance, but I know they are very rare and precious."
So, I would accept one that would help me reach Primary-III," she replied, with eyes filled with hope and yearning.
"How would you like your own?" I asked, and the girl was so stunned she stopped in her tracks and didn’t come for a few seconds, attracting passersby’s gazes.
"You mean origin inheritances?" she asked, hesitantly; the celestial inheritances are called that here.
I nodded to her question.
Celestial inheritance is not for everyone, but I have been observing this girl for weeks and know she has what it takes to create it. Even though she barely has any knowledge of the runes.
Knowledge could be gained mindset is not.
If I didn’t observe that, I would have given her the assurances I have; I have quite a lot of them, and some are quite good. thousands of times better than any inheritance this place has.
"Yes!" replied the girl, quite loudly. This time, it’s me who is surprised.
