Chapter 2231: 25.121 Lone Black Star - Barren and Poisonous
Sneaking into the Empire Star
Using some ancient formation the Crown Princess had learned in his previous life as a Highgod, the space ship that carries all the human soldiers and the royal family had entered the empire. They had chosen a location that is not only a place where there isn’t much presence. They had also made sure that it was faraway from the forest area where the Zerg Race is currently staying. Their temporary nest, after all, the construction of their new nest hasn’t been completed yet. As for the main city which was destroyed by them during the invasion, the zergs had only left a few of their kin to watch after the slaves they had gotten. They actually treated the former main city as a pasture for these surviving humans.
The Insect Race had always seen the human race as a delicious food. However, they weren’t foolish enough to kill all of the humans only to waste them due to overeating. So they treated the rest of the humans they captured as livestock. Allowing them to continue living their lives in this broken city, promoting public mating just so they can increase the population of the remaining humans and harvest them when the time is right. After the empire’s defeat most human in this planet was killed, a quarter had successfully escaped and the rest were captured and imprisoned in this broken land, with a small number of them hiding in some crooks within the empire while trying to find a way to escape from this star which had now become hell for the human race.
With the spaceships covered in all kinds of formation that hid their location and overall form hidden with some energy veil that prevented others from sensing or seeing them, they had finally landed in some barren area within the empire star. Faraway from the forest area that was loved by the insect race and a bit nearer towards the former main city. On their way to descend, everyone on the spaceship had seen the scenery from above ground. The former beautiful and boisterous city was now no different from a ghost town. Almost no living being can be seen within the ruined place. The more everyone sees the ending of the Empire, everyone on that space vessel couldn’t hold back their tears while watching at the land they had grown up to but almost couldn’t recognize at all.
"How can this happen?!"
"Why... Why is the city gone!?"
"N-No... This is not real!"
"We have been fighting in the frontlines for years all for the sake of protecting the Empire. How come now that I am finally home, the possibility that my family was no longer around was greater!"
"This is not possible right? Not everyone had died, didn’t they? The human race... does it still exist?"
"AH~ this can’t be! Don’t tell me my whole family is gone!?"
"Why is this happening? Why did the empire end up like this!?"
"This can’t be! Mother!!?"
Chaos had befallen the spaceships that carried the human soldiers who stayed at the space HQ for years just to protect the empire from outside forces like the foreign races for example the zergs. The soldiers had always believed that staying in the Space HQ was a form of protection for their empire. As long as they do not fall, the empire wouldn’t have to suffer too much. But what is this now? Not only did the empire have fallen, almost everything on this planet is already gone. Even the human race that once ruled the whole place was now almost nothing in this place. From free and normal humans to slaves and almost extinct humans.
Seeing the situation right now, the scenery of ruined cities, destroyed villages and barren towns, made the soldiers who had finally returned to the empire to be welcomed by such a scene. There are even scenes of humans being chased and eaten alive by the insect race. This is something that cannot be avoided. Only when the remaining humans had united that they would have the ability to survive the current situation.
Only when the spaceships had landed on the ground that the formations that hid the fleet had all disappeared. Rows of space vessels suddenly appeared in some barren area within the Empire’s land. Before the flying vehicle landed on the ground, the guides in each spaceship were told to spread their mental energy to check the remaining areas from the land they had successfully disembarked into. What would they do if they had fallen into another scene that involves the insect race. They had also intentionally avoided the fact about the missing royal family.
The Grand Duke looked around and felt the situation in this area was unexpectedly too quiet. Maybe there is something unknown hidden in this place. Something that is dangerous for everyone in the fleet. Moreover, this fleet mustn’t get noticed by the insect race, or else forget about ambushing people. They might as well just kill themselves on the spot. After all, this planet was no longer the same as when the human race was strongest among the group of young men and young ladies.
"This place is...the death valley?" The duchess mumbles as he recognizes this area. "A forbidden land in which it is unknown what kind of race lives in this place."
"You mean someone is living in this hell-like land?" The grand duke asked while frowning. "If this is a forbidden area, what kind of beings live in such an absurd location?
This is a land, barren enough that not even grass grew. However, all of this is because of one reason. This is an area filled with miasma, covering the surrounding lands into something protected by poison and nothing else. It was unknown if there are some living people who can survive that poison-filled location. But one thing is for sure, whatever is hiding within this area, this existence is definitely something powerful.
The duchess pats the shoulder of his husband and says, "This area is not safe. We should find another place to land."
There is almost no time now. Though we do not know what kind of existence lives in this area, they still had chosen to stay. They had actually landed in this place because they had noticed that in this poison-filled land, no zerg had dared to venture in this place alone.
The crown princess looked around and noticed that there are still trees that exist in a place full of poisonous miasma. He decided to sense the surrounding not only through his own divine consciousness but also over his control over the plants and trees. Ye Caoyun closed his eyes and touched the black grass under their feet. He tried to use the grasses and other plants in the area as medium to look into this area more closely. At the beginning nothing was actually captured by the crown princess’s senses, only when he had investigated the center of this poisonous area that he had noticed something big was sleeping.
Based on its demeanor, with the sound of something snoring and the movements of shadows within the area, whatever it is that lives in this place and rules the area through power alone might be something that even the zerg race choose not to venture into. The crown princess tried to find out what this sleeping being was and tried to get closer. When he saw this mountain-like sleeping creature, he was speechless.
"What is wrong? What did you see, Yun’er?" Ye Qinya asked worriedly.
The Crown Prince frowned as he noticed the changes on his crown princess. He had also witnessed this scene where the Crown Princess had to use the plants in existence to check the whole area. That is the time when the crown princess’s life fell into danger and almost died. Ye Caoyun lifted his hand from the poisonous grasses and noticed that for some reason the crown princess was unaffected by this miasma which is poison itself.
Ye Caoyun answers the question of his beloved. "The ruler of his poisonous, barren land is still alive. It was even living at the center of this poisonous land. It didn’t look like a human at all. It instead looked like a big beast."
"What kind of beast is it?" The crown prince, Ye Qinya asked. "How come it was still alive after living in a place like this?"
The crown princess added, "Don’t wake it up. If it suddenly woke up, it would be unknown what kind of reaction it would give to our existence."
"Your highness! The poison in this place is too strange." a soldier reported. "The antidote of this miasma poison was actually this black grass itself."
After the antidote for the poison in this area was found, the crown prince decided to continue letting the fleet rest properly. The insect race will not be leaving after all this planet can be considered a property of their race after the invasion in this place had succeeded.
"Keep the antidote. This place... we will make a camp to this location," said the Crown Prince.
Ye Caoyun asked, "What should we do about the beast sleeping in the center of such a poisonous area?"
