Chapter 3830: Origins
Ming Xiaolong led Ming Xiaochou over to Lu Yin and offered a deep bow. “Thank you for rescuing my brother from the Autumnspring Slip.”
“I am Ming Xiaochou. Thank you, Senior.”
Lu Yin asked, “Your request has been fulfilled, right?”
Ming Xiaolong replied, “Of course it has. Still, like I said before, this matter is separate from my request. You rescued my brother, so if you ever need anything, I, Ming Xiaolong, will obey, even if it costs me my life.”
“As will I,” Ming Xiaochou added.
Lu Yin asked, “What’s Qing Yun’s story?”
Ming Xiaolong glanced in the direction Qing Yun had left, despite the woman being long gone. “She’s the daughter of Greater Sancte Awe Gate.”
Lu Yin was startled. “Greater Sancte Awe Gate?”
Ming Xiaolong nodded. “She’s the daughter of Greater Sancte Awe Gate. As for her name, ‘Qing Yun,’ Greater Sancte Green Lotus gave it to her. It’s said that the Greater Sancte even insisted on the name and that Greater Sancte Awe Gate could not stop him. So-”
“So she has two Greater Sancti behind her,” Lu Yin finished.
Ming Xiaolong nodded.
Lu Yin clicked his tongue. No wonder. This explained why everyone treated Qing Yun with such courtesy and why not even Ying Mei had dared to address the young woman by name and had instead only called her “young lady.”
With the backing of two Greater Sancti, Qing Yun enjoyed unmatched support. Who in the entire megaverse could surpass that? The Seven Fairies? Even all seven together could not compare to Qing Yun alone.
Lu Yin let out a long breath. “No wonder you were stalling. You were afraid that she might speak up in favor of the Autumnspring Slip.”
Ming Xiaolong responded with a bitter smile. “Even if we Seven Fairies are Greater Sancte Green Lotus’s nominal disciples, we’re nothing compared to that woman. A word from her can even prompt a Lesser Sancte to leap into action. She can command half of our megaverse’s top powerhouses, and that’s not any exaggeration.”
Lu Yin nodded, convinced that Ming Xiaolong was being quite literal.
Qing Yun enjoyed the same sort of status that Lu Yin’s theoretical child would have in the Tianyuan. If he had a child, they would be able to command the top experts of that megaverse.
“Fortunately, she has a good personality.” Lu Yin felt a flicker of lingering fear. If that girl had been hostile to him, forget about destroying the Autumnspring Slip, he might have already found half of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse’s experts pursuing him.
Lu Siyu found the situation rather strange. “That woman has never taken sides before, so why did she speak up to help you?”
Ming Xiaolong and Ming Xiaochou were also curious about that, but Lu Yin did not have an answer himself. He merely suspected that it had something to do with the Qing Yun that he had met in the Spirit Nidus. There had to be a connection between the two women.
Still, something did not add up. If the Nine Odysseys Megaverse’s Qing Yun was related to the Spirit Nidus’s Qing Yun, she should have been hostile towards Lu Yin. He had not exactly been kind to Qing Yun in the Spirit Nidus.
“Have any of you ever heard of Qing Xiao?”
Lu Siyu and Ming Xiaolong both shook their heads, not knowing the man.
“Does Greater Sancte Awe Gate not have a son?”
“Only a daughter. What are you saying? Are you looking down on women?”
“No, it was just a question.” Lu Yin grew increasingly puzzled. Who could Qing Xiao be? Was he not really Qing Yun’s younger brother?
“Oh right, before she left, Qing Yun invited me to some place called the Frightened Sparrow Terrace. What is it?”
Ming Xiaochou instantly grew envious. “You’re going to the Frightened Sparrow Terrace, Senior? That’s great! Why don’t we go together!”
Lu Yin asked again, “Just what is this Frightened Sparrow Terrace?”
Because they knew that Lu Yin was from one of the three lower megaverses, they understood that he would not know about such things. “The Frightened Sparrow Terrace is both a place and a trial. You can think of it as a rare opportunity offered by Greater Sancte Awe Gate to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse’s people. It’s a chance to receive the teachings of an Immortal, or even ask them questions directly.
“The exact details of the trial can only be learned after visiting the terrace itself, where things are apparently made clear. Essentially, as soon as the Frightened Sparrow Terrace is opened, countless cultivators from all parts of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse will rush over. It’s one of the few chances to meet an Immortal.
“By the way, did the young lady say when it would take place?”
Lu Yin clasped his hands behind his back. “No, she didn’t.”
“I see. In that case, it probably won’t be anytime soon. That’s not a problem, as we can wait. When it does take place, it will be a major event that the entire Nine Odysseys Megaverse will know about,” Ming Xiaochou continued excitedly.
Boom!
Far away, the ruins of the Autumnspring Slip loudly collapsed, reminding Lu Yin that he had not yet searched for any spoils.
The Autumnspring Slip had been a major sect, which also meant it had been extremely wealthy. What Lu Yin was most interested in were the spirit seeds and karmic buds.
There were many people eyeing the ruins with greedy eyes, but so long as Lu Yin was present, no one would dare to try to take anything.
Lu Yin would not search the wreckage himself; he sent the surviving disciples of the Autumnspring Slip to do it. No one could locate the hidden resources faster than those who had hidden them in the first place.
The majority of the resources were not readily visible but were instead hidden in cosmic rings. Even with his powerful consciousness, Lu Yin could not find everything, and even if he could, he would have simply overturned all of the ruins at once.
While the disciples worked hard to recover the resources for him, Lu Yin turned back to Lu Siyu and Ming Xiaolong. “What’s the third request?”
The two girls shook their heads. “None of our sisters have contacted us.”
Lu Yin frowned. “So what am I supposed to do?”
Lu Siyu rolled her eyes. “Figure it out on your own. What? Will you die without a request?”
Lu Yin looked into the distance. “Right now, completing all seven requests is what I want to do the most.”
“And that’s understandable. Anyone would want to become a part of the Sea of Karma,” Ming Xiaolong replied, only to helplessly shrug. “Still, none of our sisters have reached out to us, so there’s nothing that we can do.”
“I’ll contact them.”
“No.”
“No.”
The two women answered in unison, suddenly looking at Lu Yin with wary eyes.
He was rendered speechless by their reaction. “Why not?”
Lu Siyu bared her teeth. “The contact information of us seven sisters has never been leaked. If we give you their information and it ends up being exposed, what then? That would be a huge scandal.”
Ming Xiaolong nodded in agreement.
Lu Yin rubbed his forehead. “You can’t expect me to just sit around and wait forever, can you?”
Ming Xiaolong said, “If it really comes to it, you can come back to Everchange Valley with me. I’d love to see the look on old man Wan Lou’s face when he sees you again.”
Lu Siyu leaned closer to Ming Xiaolong and whispered, “Fourth Sister, do you think that the others might all be assuming that someone already gave him a request, which is why they haven’t contacted us?”
“It’s possible. We’re always polite to each other. We Seven Fairies have the best relationship. However, it’s also possible that they’ve learned just how powerful this guy is and are reconsidering their requests.”
“Should we ask them?”
“I don’t think that’s necessary.”
“So should we just make him wait?”
“That’s not ideal either. He did save my brother, and I did say that I’d make it up to him. Fine, I’ll ask Fifth Sister.”
“Alright. I’ll ask Sixth Sister.”
Lu Yin breathed a sigh of relief. It would be good for them to push things along a bit. If he was forced to wait, who could say how long he would end up waiting for?
While fulfilling seven requests sounded like a lot of work and there was no doubt that each one would be difficult, given Lu Yin’s level of strength, it was not impossible for him to complete all of the requests. Both the Four Commands Sword Sect and the Autumnspring Slip had been considered major powers in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.
Lu Siyu soon lowered her communication device. “Sixth Sister hasn’t decided yet.”
Ming Xiaolong lowered hers as well. “Neither has Fifth Sister.”
“What about the others? Keep asking,” Lu Yin urged.
The two girls looked troubled. “Eldest Sister, Second Sister, and Third Sister have all told us not to contact them unless it’s absolutely necessary, so we can’t call them.”
Lu Yin frowned. “Unless absolutely necessary? Oh right, only five of you are known to the public, while two are complete mysteries. It seems that no one ever even mentions them.”
Lu Siyu showed a teasing smile. “It’s not just two of us. Of the Seven Fairies, some of our public identities are real, but some are fake. Fourth Sister and I have been the most public about our identities, which is why everyone knows about us. However, a few of our sisters have a public identity and a secret identity. As for the two that you mentioned, the ones who are considered the most mysterious are our Eldest Sister and Third Sister. Even we don’t know their true identities.”
Ming Xiaolong added, “That’s why we’re also very curious what sort of requests they’ll give you. We might be able to guess their identities from that.
“Oh right, there’s probably something else that you’re curious about. Back in the lotus pool, you threw a palm strike at us, but none of us were injured at all. Didn’t that strike you as a bit odd, given our strength?”
Lu Yin nodded. “You are nowhere near capable of blocking one of my attacks. At first, I actually assumed that Greater Sancte Green Lotus had helped you, but-”
“Nonsense! Master would never intercede for us!” Lu Siyu snapped, suddenly glaring at Lu Yin.
Ming Xiaolong’s expression had also fallen.
Lu Yin realized that he had misspoken. Since he had assumed that Greater Sancte Green Lotus was responsible for him arriving in the Sea of Karma, it made sense to him that the Immortal had also rescued the Seven Fairies from being harmed. However, from Lu Siyu and Ming Xiaolong’s perspective, Lu Yin was implying that their master was constantly observing them, which would essentially be peeping. Such an insinuation was incredibly disrespectful.
Lu Yin quickly apologized. “I misspoke. That’s why I said ‘at first.’ It clearly was not him, and I meant no disrespect to Greater Sancte Green Lotus.”
Only then did the two girls’ expressions relax a bit, though Ming Xiaolong still sounded irritated. “There’s no way we could block your palm, but Eldest Sister or one of the others might be able to. We don’t actually know who blocked your attack, just like how no one knows who you touched.”
Lu Siyu nodded enthusiastically. “Exactly! That’s it.”
Lu Yin was speechless. How had they managed to return back to that incident?
“Just forget about the ones that you can’t contact for now. Instead, help me by nudging the ones that you can get in touch with.” Lu Yin looked at Ming Xiaolong. “I helped you, and while rescuing your brother was your request, I did it as I chose to. I accomplished things perfectly, didn’t I?”
Ming Xiaolong could not deny that. “I know. You don’t have to worry, I’ll keep pushing. Still, if they really haven’t decided yet, you’ll just have to figure something else out for the time being.”
“Or you could just go straight to Fifth and Sixth Sister’s homes,” Lu Siyu chimed in.
Lu Yin thought for a moment. “That could work.”
Just then, a disciple from the Autumnspring Slip came over and respectfully asked to lead Lu Yin to a vault where the sect’s resources had been stored.
Ying Mei’s cosmic ring had been destroyed, which Lu Yin somewhat regretted. Thankfully, the sect’s resources had not been harmed.
Just the spirit seeds alone piled up in mountains. Lu Yin did not hesitate to take them all. There were at least 100 trillion spirit seeds, which was an immense fortune.
Back when Yue Ya had sent one of his Moon Servants to speak with Lu Yin, one of Lu Yin’s conditions had been 100 trillion spirit seeds. In order to fulfill that condition, the Moon Servants had been forced to use all of Yue Ya’s connections in the Spirit Nidus, which was an exorbitant price to pay. Gathering all those spirit seeds had actually impacted the economy of the entire megaverse.
Despite that, Lu Yin had found a similar amount just sitting in front of him.
Cultivating with spirit seeds was a method that originated in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, and all spirit seeds ultimately returned to them. The Spirit Nidus merely served as a transitional stage, so it was impossible for the quantity in that place to ever compare to what the Nine Odysseys Megaverse possessed.
With 100 trillion spirit seeds, Lu Yin could refine them into a vast amount of spirit seed liquid.
However, where could he hope to acquire Immortal matter in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse? He also did not dare to go around prying out karmic bricks, so without being able to find Immortal matter, spirit seed liquid seemed rather useless.
In addition to the spirit seeds, the vault also contained vast amounts of wealth in the form of metals and an extensive collection of cultivation arts and battle techniques. Some of the techniques were incredibly tempting to the others present, including even the Autumnspring Slip disciples themselves. It was clear to see how badly they wanted the techniques, but no one dared to take anything for themselves.
What Lu Yin really wanted was to find a mirebound artifact, but that was wishful thinking.
Mirebound artifacts were treasures that could only be found through incredible luck.
Even the most powerful cultivators would not necessarily have one. The High Seraph, who ruled over the entire Spirit Nidus, only possessed one or two. Yi Shang had built up a vast merchant network that covered the entire Spirit Nidus, but he had only managed to obtain one mirebound artifact.
Even Yue Ya only possessed only one such treasure, the belt.
