Chapter 3894: Fishing Civilizations

Chapter 3894: Fishing Civilizations

Jing Lian shook his head. “You don’t understand the situation. That is how the Greater Sancti demonstrate their opinion. They showed strong support for Venerable Lan Ye. Think about it—when Venerable Lan Ye breaks through to the Immortal realm, who will he be most grateful to? Naturally, it will be the Greater Sancti who helped him. Don’t think that the Greater Sancti are untouchable. Even they have disputes among themselves. It’s much like me and Wei Heng. That guy is completely infuriating! He’s a reckless brute. Junior Brother, make sure that you don’t learn anything from him.

“Are you asking about Wei Heng? Oh, he is a disciple of Greater Sancte Blood Tower. Just like me, he’s a disciple who was accepted more than a thousand years ago. We’re both part of the same batch of Greater Sancti disciples. All of us have our own rivals...”

After finally getting rid of Jing Lian, Lu Yin quickly moved to another location.

The Seventh Night Pillar was massive, which made it difficult for others to find him, aside from those who, like Odyssey Commander Gu Duanke, were able to look at the entire Night Pillar.

As he moved along, Lu Yin saw many people. Some stayed in small groups, while others meditated alone. The people who belonged to the Seventh Night Pillar were easy to distinguish from the invited cultivators.

Lu Yin saw Luo Ning, who also noticed Lu Yin and offered a bow from across the distance.

Lu Yin continued moving along, and he eventually saw Qing Yun and Granny Yin. He changed directions to greet Qing Yun, only for Granny Yin to step in front of him and direct a suspicious glare at him.

Unable to do anything, Lu Yin simply moved on.

Qing Yun smiled. “Granny, he’s not a bad person.”

“But he is shameless,” Granny Yin said, “Young Lady, we should simply stay away from him. He’s already caused so much trouble in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse without anyone calling him out for it. Clearly, he’s being supported by Greater Sancte Green Lotus, so no matter how he takes advantage of people, it’s impossible for anyone to speak against him.”

Qing Yun just smiled faintly as she watched Lu Yin walk away.

After that, Lu Yin ran into Wan Lou. Ming Xiaochou excitedly greeted Lu Yin, while Wan Lou quickly offered a bow, showing a very respectful attitude.

Lu Yin nodded to them.

Finally, he settled down on the peak of a small mountain. This will do.

He turned around and happened to meet someone’s gaze. Is that... Ru Guo?

Lu Yin arched a brow. There were so many familiar faces here.

Ru Guo had not expected to see Lu Yin on the Seventh Night Pillar either. He was a bit stunned, and he hesitated briefly before eventually walking toward the younger man.

Lu Yin had helped Ru Guo leave the Spirit Nidus, and in exchange, Lu Yin had learned a bit about the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, though only a little. He had also received the Wayfinder Sutra.

At the time, Ru Guo had sincerely hoped that Lu Yin would be able to enter the Nine Odysseys Megaverse and serve as an ally, even if only by diverting Yue Ya's attention.

While Lu Yin had eventually arrived, everything had been turned upside down. He was actually strong enough to be regarded as invincible beneath the Immortals.

When Ru Guo had learned of Lu Yin’s improved power, he had genuinely not wanted to interact with the young man ever again. It had become impossible for Ru Guo to choose the direction that Lu Yin would take. Cooperating with someone like Lu Yin would leave Ru Guo in an entirely passive position and unable to make any decisions at all. On top of that, Lu Yin had openly antagonized the entire Nine Odysseys Megaverse. He was reckless and unrestrained. Who could say what would ultimately happen?

Ru Guo wanted to follow a more reliable path. His goal was merely to cultivate until he obtained the strength of a Lesser Sancte, which did not align with Lu Yin’s goals at all.

Who would have thought that they would meet on the Seventh Night Pillar?

“Greetings, Mr. Lu.” Ru Guo approached Lu Yin and offered a slow bow.

The balance between the two was completely different from when they had met in the Spirit Nidus. Lu Yin had become the strongest individual beneath the Immortals, to the point where not even the Lesser Sancti were his match any longer, let alone someone like Ru Guo.

It was perfectly normal for Ru Guo to offer a bow as greetings.

Wan Lou had also bowed to Lu Yin.

Before Ru Guo obtained the title of Lesser Sancte, the status of Everchange Valley’s sect master was much more impressive than his. For the moment, the Ru family was just another small family.

Lu Yin looked at Ru Guo. “It’s been a long time.”

Ru Guo smiled. “It has. After how we parted last time, I did not expect to see you here on the Seventh Night Pillar.”

“How is Ru Mu?”

Ru Guo’s expression instantly fell. “The same.”

At one point in time, Yue Ya had taken control of Ru Mu. She had put on a show of needing to lead Lu Yin to Heavenspire, but she had actually been trying to lead him to the Morrow Behemoth’s hand. Yue Ya had wanted the beast to throw Lu Yin into the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, where he would capture Lu Yin and devour his consciousness.

However, the High Seraph had seen through Yue Ya’s plan and attacked Boundless, inadvertently harming Ru Mu and reducing her to being nothing more than a living corpse.

Later, Ru Mu had been captured by Yue Ya, who had used her to threaten Ru Guo to take Lu Yin to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.

For a long time, Ru Bu had been controlled by Yue Ya. She was someone to be pitied. Despite being a member of the Ru family, they had not been capable of protecting her.

She had never been anything more than a pawn.

“When we return to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, bring her to me. I might be able to help her recover,” Lu Yin said.

Ru Guo was thrilled by the offer. “Mr. Lu, can you really help her recover?”

Lu Yin nodded. “I should be able to.”

“Thank you, Mr. Lu! Thank you!” Ru Guo gushed.

Lu Yin remained unfazed. “She’s still my maid. However, you...”

He started to say something, but after considering things for a moment, decided not to.

Did Ru Guo genuinely care about his daughter? It was possible. But it was also possible that he was merely leaving himself a way to cultivate the Wayfinder Sutra. Ru Mu might be an alternate source of the emotions that the man needed.

Whether Ru Guo’s feelings were real or false had nothing to do with Lu Yin. There was no need for him to be concerned with other people’s family matters.

Ru Guo asked, “What did you want to say, Mr. Lu?”

Lu Yin asked, “Did you arrange the target coordinates?”

Ru Guo’s expression grew serious. “I swear, as soon as my family returned to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, I arranged the target coordinates. I would not lie to you, Mr. Lu.”

“But I ended up in the Sea of Karma,” Lu Yin said, his eyes fixed on Ru Guo.

Ru Guo was startled. “The Sea of Karma? How did you get there, Mr. Lu?”

“I was thrown by the Morrow Behemoth.”

“Impossible!” Ru Guo said in disbelief. “The Sea of Karma is at the Mother Tree’s crown. Forget the Spirit Nidus—it’s impossible to reach the Sea of Karma even from our Nine Odysseys Megaverse without being allowed in. It’s absolutely impossible for a Morrow Behemoth to throw you there.

“Unless...” The man hesitated, and his eyes started nervously shifting about.

He did not finish his thought, but there was no need. There was only one possibility, which was that Greater Sancte Green Lotus had personally intervened.

In a single moment, countless thoughts ran through Ru Guo’s mind. From the moment that Lu Yin had entered the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, everything that he had done could be traced back to the Sea of Karma. Even Ming Zhuo had announced that Lu Yin had emerged from the Sea of Karma.

His recklessness and strength were marked by the Sea of Karma.

At this moment, Ru Guo became more convinced than ever that Lu Yin had to be a part of the Sea of Karma. Only Greater Sancte Green Lotus could have taken Lu Yin straight there. How could a mere Morrow Behemoth have thrown him there?

Lu Yin waved a hand, dismissing Ru Guo. The man bowed once more before leaving.

He felt certain that the young man would eventually become an Immortal.

Before, Lu Yin had already been almost fully convinced that Greater Sancte Green Lotus had pulled him into the Sea of Karma, but at this moment, he was absolutely certain.

However, why had Greater Sancte Green Lotus entangled the paths of Lu Yin with the Seven Fairies?

There must be something more to the Seven Fairies.

A year passed, and the Night Pillar continued to fly through the Aevum Inch, not slowing in the slightest.

During that year, Lu Yin saw some people fishing in the Aevum Inch.

They were not trying to catch fish, but rather items that drifted through the Aevum Inch. Most objects were worthless things, such as meteorites, but occasionally, they caught something good.

Almost every cultivator on the Seventh Night Pillar had tried fishing. Whenever a Night Pillar returned to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, those who had traveled on it would go out and sell what they had caught. That was one reason why there was no shortage of foreign auras in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.

There were countless spirit treasures in the West Domain’s yellow sands, a significant number of which had been pulled from the Aevum Inch.

From the peak of a nearby mountain, a group of people who belonged to the Seventh Night Pillar were all throwing out spirit threads.

They threw the spirit threads out in one direction and then immediately pulled them back. Catching anything depended solely on luck. Frequently, nothing would be caught for years at a time, though there were also times when many objects would be pulled in.

The spirit threads were incredibly durable, and even with the speed at which the Night Pillars traveled, the threads did not snap.

It was impossible to precisely catch anything, since they were unable to follow the Night Pillar’s speed. Rather than fishing, it was more accurate to say that they were just throwing out spirit threads and hoping to luck out.

The only skill involved was how far one could cast the spirit threads.

However, the group did not fish for very long before someone scolded them. They were forced to reel in their spirit threads and put them away.

"This is so boring. I heard that, in the past, people were allowed to freely fish in the Aevum Inch. Some even managed to catch a number of things, including things that helped their cultivation."

"That was a very long time ago. There are now restrictions on how long we can fish for, as well as other rules. If you catch a spirit treasure, you have to immediately throw it away."

"I don’t get why that’s a rule."

"It’s said that the Greater Sancti gave that order, so not even the Odyssey Commanders dare to disobey it. I’ve heard their favorite pastime used to be fishing in the Aevum Inch while drinking wine, but they rarely do that now."

Lu Yin looked away. Why had fishing in the Aevum Inch been restricted? He suspected that the reason why there were additional rules specifically in place for spirit treasures was the skeleton.

In that case, the spirit treasure that originally contained that skeleton must have been found in the Aevum Inch, right?

Spirit treasures drifted through the Aevum Inch. Someone must have caught one and taken it back to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. Unlocking that spirit treasure had exposed the skeleton, which had triggered a deathly crisis. There was also the fact that megaverses could move, the implications of the springboard, and an instinctive need to hide the existence of one’s civilization. When everything was taken together, Lu Yin understood the cruel nature of the Aevum Inch, and it sent chills down his spine.

If the spirit treasure that had contained the skeleton had been deliberately sent out by another civilization, then what was its purpose?

Lu Yin suddenly looked back at the people who had been fishing. They were fishing in the Aevum Inch... there might be entire civilizations that do the same thing.

Two years after the Night Pillar had left the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, Venerable Lan Ye suddenly went to find Lu Yin, much to his surprise.

Lan Ye had already been defeated by Lu Yin and forced to publicly apologize, which had been humiliating for him. Despite that, Lan Ye had taken the initiative to seek out Lu Yin again.

"There’s a question that’s been on my mind for a long time, but I can’t think of an answer. Even so, I’ve become increasingly certain of the answer. Mr. Lu, could you answer the question for me?" Venerable Lan Ye did not harbor any resentment towards Lu Yin, despite having been defeated by him. Lan Ye knew that he had been the one to instigate the matter.

After that incident, he had returned to the Seventh Night Pillar and had spent a long time reflecting on his past. He understood that he had been too arrogant and that had not even shown the Odyssey Commander any respect. Compared to Gu Duanke, Lan Ye knew that he was still too immature. Even if he had a much greater chance of breaking through to the Immortal realm when the Orchid Megaverse was reset than other people, nothing was guaranteed.

The Immortal realm was not just about cultivating strength, but also about one’s mindset.

Lan Ye was actually a little grateful to Lu Yin for providing him with the opportunity to reflect.

However, Lan Ye was still tormented day and night by his question. Anyone from the Nine Odysseys Megaverse who had guessed the same question would not be able to ignore it, as it was too important to them.

Lu Yin knew what question Venerable Lan Ye wanted to ask, and he calmly looked at the man. "You want me to give you an answer?"

"If you are willing, Mr. Lu," Venerable Lan Ye answered respectfully.

Lu Yin gave a faint smile. "Alright, I’ll answer your question."

As Venerable Lan Ye looked at Lu Yin, the man’s heart grew increasingly uneasy.

"Your guess is correct," Lu Yin stated.

Venerable Lan Ye’s eyes instantly narrowed. "Have you truly comprehended karma?"

Lu Yin smiled. "Didn’t you already guess that to be the case when you stepped out of my Champions' Stage Purgatory? Why don’t you want to accept the answer?"

Venerable Lan Ye showed a bitter smile. "So it’s true. So that really is the case."
