Chapter 4097: Melee

Chapter 4097: Melee

Just as the pressure reached the point where it was about to crush the karmic wall, Lu Yin lashed out with a kick. The various afterimages that appeared were not due to speed, but from Lightstream connecting the various timelines so that all of Lu Yin’s power erupted at the same moment. That kick blasted the Immortal beast far away, jostling its mind. The monster did not even look back as it shot away. It was done fighting.

It had not even appeared here of its own will.

When Lu Yin saw the Immortal beast fleeing, he did not pursue it. Instead, he gripped the card in a hand and turned to face the droplet-shaped Verdant Sage.

The droplet-shaped Verdant Sage eyed the card. “Is that the Primordial card? I didn’t expect you to acquire it.”

It wanted to talk, which Lu Yin certainly did not mind. He also wanted to buy a bit of time. “It’s called Shan Barrens.”

“I know.”

“Do you know how I subdued it?”

“Human, every word out of your mouth tells me that you’re stalling.” With that, the droplet creature attacked. Droplets of water shot toward Lu Yin as Lifeforce surged and merged with Immortal matter. Each drop of water distorted space, containing enough power to crush countless stars.

Lu Yin sighed. If only he was facing a civilization that had no knowledge of humanity.

Force was the only way for him to buy time.

He slid to the side, taking the card with him. He vanished again and again as he used the River of Aeons. When its strikes continued to miss, the Immortal bug dispersed its body once more, using its cosmic law.

Lu Yin arched a brow. The Immortal monster could not be allowed to leave. Its absence meant that the full pressure of the Verdant Sage would fall upon him.

Unfortunately, the beast had already fled.

Helpless to change the situation, Lu Yin released his inner universe so that he could use Verdant Eternity to avoid being dried out.

The moment his inner universe appeared, droplets infiltrated it, shattering multiple stars. Lu Yin quickly withdrew it.

An Immortal’s unseen world aligned with cosmic laws. Contending against the cosmos itself with just his inner universe was a joke.

Lu Yin had merely been wanting to try, but his attempt had instantly failed.

With no alternative, he simply released his Lifeforce.

He was not an Immortal, which meant that his Lifeforce was not endless. Even so, that did not mean that he was defenseless.

Lu Yin unleashed his Tri-Azure Sword Intent again and again, slicing at the droplets.

The water droplets were countless, but even if they seemed endless, each one that shattered still hurt the Immortal Verdant Sage.

In this manner, two days passed. Finally, Lu Yin saw the battlefield that lay beyond the far edge of the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm.

Ku Deng was still fighting with Kang Tian. The large snail was clearly stalling, as it was refusing to get involved in a direct confrontation. However, Ku Deng was unable to break through the snail’s defenses.

Just then, a spiral of karma shot at Kang Tian.

A blue sword flickered out from the distance. Lan Meng believed that Greater Sancte Green Lotus was intervening in the battle.

However, the spiral of karma was controlled by Lu Yin, who was receiving the support of the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm. At the same moment that Lan Meng took action, so did Green Lotus.

Lan Meng was startled. Two strands of karma?

Greater Sancte Green Lotus had moved to block Lan Meng’s sword while Lu Yin was focused on weaving karma, reaching across the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm to target Kang Tian. A tremendous amount of karma was consumed in the process, and that quickly caught the Immortal Lord’s notice.

They had thought that they had been keeping Greater Sancte Green Lotus restrained, only to discover that there was someone else at work.

In that moment, the cosmos pressed down, the pressure returning to crush the entire Aevum Inch. Awe Gate could not withstand the pressure, and she coughed up blood.

Greater Sancte Green Lotus immediately took back control of his Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm so that he could resist the Immortal Lord.

As for the Immortal Lord, Lan Meng had no idea what had happened. The creature could only sense that they had somehow been played.

After a moment, Kang Tian released distorted space from its shell, targeting Lan Meng. The tree-like creature immediately understood that they had somehow become Kang Tian’s enemy. What is going on?

Greater Sancte Green Lotus let out a pent up breath. Success.

Ku Deng froze. Kang Tian had actually attacked Lan Meng.

Awe Gate emerged from the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm once more. “Kill Lan Meng.”

Ku Deng attacked Lan Meng without any hesitation.

At that moment, Lan Meng was facing an assault from three Immortals.

As that played out, the Immortal Lord hammered the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm again and again. Green Lotus knew that the creature was enraged by the earlier ploy, but that meant nothing. Humanity was already enemies with the Nest civilization.

Outside the Tianyuan, Lu Yin’s eyes grew cold. His task had been completed. Next, he intended to release his full strength against the two Immortal insects.

Countless droplets tried to dry out Lu Yin’s body, reducing him to dust. He retreated into the Tianyuan, and right after that, the countless droplets battered against the karmic wall.

Lu Yin released his Karmic Dao and used the Tianyuan’s karma to strengthen the wall against the onslaught. At the same time that he sat down, cross-legged, a colossal phantom of him rose above the Tianyuan. He merged with the will of the megaverse, becoming one with it. As the droplet creature stared on in shock, Lu Yin threw a single palm strike out.

So you align with the laws of the cosmos? I align with the will of the megaverse.

I AM the megaverse.

Boom!

Countless water droplets were shattered as the Immortal Verdant Sage was forced back. It stared at Lu Yin in utter disbelief. What is this?

Lu Yin continued to attack the bug from a distance. He had the reach of a megaverse, and that was a power in and of itself.

Any joke that circulated through the Aevum Inch would shatter all cognition when it became real. At this moment, the droplet creature was questioning all that it had believed it knew.

Even the humanoid Verdant Sage, despite seeing Lu Yin merge with the Tianyuan, had not been nearly this shocked, as they had not experienced it firsthand.

It was not Lu Yin attacking, but rather the entire Tianyuan Megaverse.

The bug retreated again and again even as its liquid body grew visibly smaller.

Elsewhere, even while facing the attacks of three Immortals, Lan Meng’s gaze turned to the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm.

Weaving Kang Tian’s karma was not Green Lotus’s method of using karma. Obscura had an accurate understanding of the human Immortals, and this meant that there was another in the human civilization who had comprehended karma.

Humanity truly is uncontrollable.

With that thought, Lan Meng chose to withdraw. They had no wish to fight a drawn out battle against three opponents.

Even so, retreat would not be easy.

A gate appeared, large enough that it seemed to connect the sky to the ground. It was Awe Gate’s work.

Her massive gate had just vanished from the Frightened Sparrow Terrace in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.

A gate vast enough to net the heavens; to it, every living thing was but a sparrow. It ensnared sky and stars alike.

Lan Meng tried to leave, but there were gates everywhere. They overlapped, filling the entire region.

Kang Tian was also constantly throwing out distorted space. Its karma had been woven, and this meant that the snail’s greatest hatred had been redirected to Lan Meng. Kang Tian firmly believed that killing Lan Meng would allow its entire species to be safe. This was the karma that Lu Yin had woven, and while it had cost the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm a shocking amount of karma, it had turned an enemy Immortal into an ally.

Outside the Tianyuan, the droplet creature continued to stagger back beneath Lu Yin’s repeated blows. It peered out into the distance at where the tiny human had apparently transformed into a megaverse-sized titan. He sat in the Aevum Inch, looking down on everything.

A massive blue droplet rose up behind the Verdant Sage, and it proceeded to shoot one droplet after another at Lu Yin.

The entire Tianyuan trembled.

The Primordial card, Shan Barrens, also shuddered. Within its pocket dimension, the humanoid Verdant Sage had pressed their palms together, turning them while using the Three Revolutions of Qianyuan.

Vrmmm.

There was a soft buzzing sound, and a massive silhouette nearly shattered the card.

Lu Yin immediately released the humanoid Verdant Sage, but it emerged outside of the Tianyuan, where it immediately was met with Lu Yin’s palm strike.

Vrmmm.

Another massive silhouette appeared, seemingly endless, and it reacted by throwing its own palm strike at Lu Yin.

The two hands met, each vast enough to cover an entire universe. There was a boom, and space shattered with the destruction spreading out in waves.

Within the Tianyuan, Lu Yuan, Jiang Feng, Ancient God, and the others stared through the boundary gate in shock. They could see spatial tears ripping through the Aevum Inch and the karmic wall being inundated with shattered space. Without that wall, the spatial tears alone would have been enough to destroy their megaverse.

Lu Yin threw out another palm strike, and the humanoid Verdant Sage answered in kind.

They had previously been gravely wounded by Lu Yin, though that was because they had been caught off guard. This time, the Immortal bug was ready, and they intended to fight against Lu Yin as though he was an equal.

Lu Yin was able to merge with the Tianyuan, while the Verdant Sage was able to use their Three Revolutions of Qianyuan.

They exchanged multiple moves, and space shattered again and again.

Even the droplet-shaped Verdant Sage found it difficult to enter the fray.

Its form meant that its potential lagged far behind the humanoid Verdant Sage. The humanoid insect had succeeded in mastering Three Revolutions of Qianyuan, while the droplet creature could not.

Still, it had enjoyed an easier time while breaking into the Immortal realm.

There were advantages and drawbacks to each form.

No one had imagined that an entire megaverse could be thrown about like a skiff on a turbulent sea.

Thunder echoed up above as the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm fought against the Immortal Lord.

Lu Yin did not know what the Immortal Lord truly was, and he did not want to know. The forces at play were more than what he could bear.

The humanoid Verdant Sage eventually reached the point where they were no longer able to withstand Lu Yin’s blows. The human’s power came from merging with a megaverse, while the bug’s power came from their own Lifeforce.

An Immortal’s Lifeforce might be endless, but that did not mean that it could be generated quickly.

As his opponent lagged, Lu Yin released a spiral of karma. He could not weave karma to turn the Verdant Sage from an enemy into an ally, as the insects received their every desire from their Immortal Lord. Still, it was possible to manipulate the karma of their current battle. For example...

As the spiral of karma shot forward, receiving a boost from Immortal matter, the humanoid Verdant Sage’s palm shifted off course. I missed? But I clearly aimed in the right direction.

Less than an instant later, Lu Yin’s palm slammed into the insect, blasting them back and drawing blood. The Verdant Sage’s Lifeforce silhouette behind them unraveled before they were caught by the droplet creature.

Lu Yin peered into the distance and raised a hand. The Tri-Azure Sword Intent shot out as Lightstream flickered. The River of Aeons flowed beneath him as his body withered. He was preparing to unleash his most powerful attack. The sword intent flickered and sliced out.

Tri-Azure Sword Intent scythed towards both the humanoid and the droplet-shaped Verdant Sages.

The two bugs exchanged glances and immediately joined forces.

The Three Revolutions of Qianyuan appeared, as did a massive water droplet.

Suddenly, the Tri-Azure Sword Intent simply vanished, as did both of the Verdant Sages.

Lu Yin’s eyes narrowed. Not good.

He had successfully deceived them by weaving karma. That had caused the two Verdant Sages to misperceive the sword intent, as Lu Yin had never actually released the attack at all.

Unfortunately, neither of the Immortal bugs were fools. As soon as their sensory information became misleading due to the karma Lu Yin had woven, the two had simply vanished. Luo Chan had taken them away, and no one knew where they might have gone in that moment.

Luo Chan. Again, it’s Luo Chan.

The very next moment, the two Verdant Sages reappeared, and they both met Lu Yin’s gaze.

He had deceived them, but they were also deceiving him. There had never been a battle so bizarre. Outsiders could not make any sense of what was happening.

The two sides were locked in a stalemate.

Inside the Tianyuan, Lu Yuan and the others looked out the stone gate in tense silence. Up above them, the colossal phantom stayed motionless.

A war involving Immortals had arrived with such swiftness, and the outcome of a single battle could potentially decide humanity’s fate.

...

Far away, the Immortal beast continued to charge forward. It was as though it had its head down, as it was ignoring absolutely everything. All it wanted to do was get away from the battlefield.

What it hated the most was that it had been dragged over for no reason. It had no desire to fight such powerful foes at the moment.

The entire battlefield was terrifying. Up above, the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm seemed to be on the verge of collapse, while beyond its edges, something immensely powerful loomed. There was a presence that felt even larger than the monster itself. All it could do was keep running.

Suddenly, the karma ahead of it collapsed, ripping open a vast swathe of darkness.

The Immortal monster veered away without a single thought, never stopping its flight.

After that, the karma ahead of it collapsed again, and the monster was struck by an indescribable chill from some other power, forcing it to change course once more.

Turn, turn—it kept being turned aside from its path.
