Chapter 1887: Chapter 1879: A Sword's Ascension

Fire.

It burned the green shade of deep, unsettling greed, fueled by dreams, hopes, goals, and the future within the hearts of countless cultivators. A beautiful thought flitted through the minds of almost all who heard the issued bounty: "What if?"

What if they claimed Su Yi's head?

What if they obtained that glorious reward?

What if!

WHAT IF!

It always starts with a simple question, snowballing down the hill of potential possibilities, layered again and again by hope and avarice. The only saving grace that kept the galaxy from erupting into raving madness with rampant desire was the target of the bounty and his recent feats.

Su Yi's reputation has been subtly growing over the last several decades, reaching a peak after surviving multiple Mythical Punishments at the Resonant Soul Realm-level of destruction. While he barely survived such an intense clash after losing that game of Mystics, he had done so as a mere Mystic Overlord.

At the Seventh Stage of the Mystic Ascendant Realm, as an Ascended Saint, Su Yi had exhibited substantial power far beyond the Mystic Ascendant Realm, alongside incredible levels of wealth and treasures. Now, the bounty target had slain a Heavenly Saint Alchemist. They all felt it. Every single cultivator who had ever refined alchemical essence into alchemical energy, practicing alchemy, had felt it. And for the Utmost Purity Galaxy, that was over half of the population.

Now, after such a bloody feat that disregarded the rules of the galaxy, he was undergoing his eighth ascension of mysticism, striving to become a True Sage! He was already heaven-defying in terms of combat strength. What about after he'd acquired True Breath of a Sage?

True Breath of a Sage was the highest form of Mystic Essence, far exceeding the ambient peak-graded mystic essence of the world refined and expelled by grand Solar Stars attached with Mystic Radiance Belts. It not only elevated one's innate energies but the resulting Mystic Power was unprecedentedly fierce, unmatched in strength.

Only the True Breath of a Sage of a higher tier was able to establish a difference. Moreover, each wisp of True Breath of a Sage could possess variations, which could include elemental characteristics, further improving the arts or spells used in tandem with it. They were hesitant.

And that hesitancy wasn't towards those beneath the True Sage Phase. They had long since discarded the chance, even if the thought floated alluringly within their minds. Su Yi was too powerful.

Those hesitant were Supreme Sages.

They were Sovereign Knights of Palaces, Pavilions, and unique organizations.

They were Dao Enforcers of Zeniths.

They were rogues.

Outside the Utmost Purity Galaxy's seven-colored galactic boundary of mist, a hazy shadow manifested. The hazy shadow gained corporeal form as resonant qi flowed from an unnaturally vast distance. It was a human male. He was garbed in tri-colored Taoist robes, a mix of red, blue, and green that was long-sleeved and long-hemmed. Upon his glabella was an embedded amethyst crystal shaped like a pentagram, exuding a spiritual gleam. There was a serene charm within his existential presence, especially the gentle features that dotted his somewhat handsome face.

With deep violet eyes, the man gazed into the seven-colored mist intently.

A few tens of trillions of miles away, at another point of the Utmost Purity Galaxy's misty boundary, a spherical object swirled out of the Void. It was a polished cyan gem that contained a clear liquid inside. It swished about like the chaotic nature of a stormy ocean.

A gentle exhale swept across the Dark Void. The spherical gem sparkled before instantaneously taking form. A young dark-skinned woman wearing aquamarine robes that seemed to contain the essence of a hundred oceans and a thousand seas within. She was bald, with azure tribal marks under her eyelids and etched across her slender neck. However, her feminine qualities were prominent, especially her phoenix-shaped azure eyes, and even more so her thick and round derrière that threatened to burst from her robes, sending endless waves through the hearts and minds of many men.

She quietly gazed into the seven-colored mist.

These two figures patiently waited. It didn't take long before they were greeted by a Supreme Sage. The man was met by Suo Haoran, separated by the layer of seven-colored mist.

"Welcome, Superior Yanzi." Suo Haoran greeted.

The man referred to as Superior Yanzi calmly nodded, "Superior Suo."

Suo Haoran amicably smiled. Only a few knew that he had long since entered the stage of a Superior Excellence, titled as a Superior Sage.

"The bounty issued by Heaven-Saint Gloomdark. Still active?" Superior Yanzi asked. It's been nearly two days since he received news of it. He was a little slow, preoccupied by other matters.

Suo Haoran nodded. "You've come in time. Daoist Su has yet to succeed with his eighth ascension, so none has made any attempts."

"Good," Superior Yanzi's eyes glowed with a spiritual radiance. "How many competitors?" He shifted his gaze to a distance, reflecting the image of the female who had arrived.

Suo Haoran didn't hide any information from this friend of his. "You and Superior Yushi are the only two who have arrived with your Avatars. Three others have descended with their Incarnations. They've established a team of three already, recruiting a few natives to coordinate with."

If the others knew that Suo Haoran was spilling information free of charge, they would likely erupt in rage, especially since they were given lukewarm welcomes and a set of strict rules of dos and don'ts. However, as mere Incarnations, they didn't deserve any significant welcoming.

Superior Yanzi curtly nodded.

Suo Haoran continued, "As for native competition, you'll be given the right to act first. That said, you'll—"

"I know. Pay upfront for priority," Superior Yanzi interrupted with a tinge of frustration. Despite issuing the bounty, the Zeniths charged anyone for a temporary passport to enter within the galaxy, including an additional fee to take action. With a flourish of his fingers, a spatial marble containing a miniaturized Internal World capable of containing mystic-grade materials and items.

He sent it forward toward the mist. Suo Haoran swept his Soul Perception across it before retrieving the marble referred to by Resonant Soul Realm cultivators as a World Orb, a precious object for storage and transportation. It was often used to contain planets, entire starfields, or vast quantities of volatile material wealth exceeding Mystic-Earth grade.

Inspecting the contents, Suo Haoran accepted the orb with a smile. The rate for entry, priority, and limited permit to act within the galaxy was lumped together and was valued at thirty mystic-heaven stones' worth of items. It wasn't small, and this was distributed amongst the Zeniths. However, the reward for success was more than worth it, especially since it was given priority.

And while priority seemed to mean they could act first, it only meant that the Zeniths and their forces would not act themselves until after you failed.

Superior Yushi handed a similar orb to the Supreme Sage who had welcomed her. It was surprisingly the Maleficent-Chaos Sovereign, who was rather cordial with Superior Yushi. Suo Haoran coordinated with the Maleficent-Chaos Sovereign, using the same moment to open a slit in the mist for both Superior Sages to enter.

Suo Haoran accompanied Superior Yanzi as he described Su Yi's strength and history, and Superior Yanzi's expression was dark. As if the same thought occurred to them, Superior Yanzi and Superior Yushi sent glances in each other's direction. With a brief exchange of spiritual transmission, they both nodded to each other.

They would ally together.

"Where's Heaven-Saint Gloomdark?" Superior Yushi asked Sovereign Maleficent-Chaos, her voice was calming like the waves of the ocean.

"She hid within her tower," Sovereign Maleficent-Chaos said with a tinge of disdain. Issue the bounty and hide! She was hoping her problems would be solved. Whose fault was it that she dared to scheme against Su Yi? The man was renowned for his vengeful attitude, dealing with matters thoroughly with his sword.

That was why he had so many enemies who refused to let him rest or recover, hoping to find him and end his life before he inevitably came for them for an accounting that would leave them barren of vitality and riches, left with only a free ticket to Hell.

"Mhm," Superior Yushi glanced at the Neo Zenith Tower. "I've heard that a new Heavenly Saint Alchemist was born recently. There's not much information about them."

"..." Sovereign Maleficent-Chaos's mood soured instantly at the mention of him. However, only nodding in acknowledgement that such a thing had happened, not delving deeper into the identity or persona of the person. She understood what should be said or not, especially since Superior Yushi's words suggested heavy obfuscation by a Supreme Seer or Heaven Prophet.

Sensing her foul mood and reluctance to speak on the subject, Superior Yushi expected and didn't press. Moreover, unlike Superior Yanzi and Superior Suo, they weren't allies or friends. This vicious woman was only polite and cordial due to their difference in strength and status, not wanting to create any ill feelings between them.

"What's happening there?" Superior Yanzi asked as he found a spherical ward of spiritual light. Within the sphere, an unearthly handsome young man was fully concentrated on a blindingly radiant clump of light that made his Soul Perception sting upon observing. It contained various fluctuations, most notably the auras of Laws.

"An attempt to save a life; don't bother with that, Superior Yanzi. Unless you want a bounty on your life next," Suo Haoran chuckled jokingly, but his tone contained a definitive truth. Those words left Superior Yanzi with a pair of solemn thoughts and shifting facial expressions.

The duo made it near the Void-Blank Space between the Creation Zone and Transformation Zone. "You may move freely," Suo Haoran tossed a talisman to Superior Yanzi, and then he left without any issue. The range of operation was simply this area. If Su Yi left this region, they would forfeit their rights to act.

They couldn't let him escape.

Staring at the Tribulation Gate that was brewing with activity, Superior Yanzi brought out eight silver flags. This was the World Taboo of Movement Array, a low-grade Mystic-Heaven Soul Array that could seal off access to the Law of Space, including preventing connection with spatial energy and spatial essence.

He began to establish it in the eight directions.

Meanwhile, Superior Yushi brought her own tools; she took out three rogue planets from a world orb and then shattered them into fine dust that was as minuscule as atoms. With that, she spread them as if she were fertilizing the region.

No one stopped them.

Meanwhile, off to the side, three Incarnations of Superior Sages were gathering ambitious natives. They included Rune Kings, World Emperors, and Original Magistrates. They campaigned and offered great rewards for mere participation.

Within these two days, numerous figures took this opportunity to work with three Supreme Sages despite the obvious danger. With the insurance of obtaining a great amount upon agreement, enough to sustain their families for multiple astral generations(1,500 Years Maximum Each), countless cultivators that were unable to advance or at the end of their lifespans joined!

A small army was formed by their efforts.

While all this took place, Wei Wuyin was kept occupied by the task of keeping this wild beauty alive. It was a herculean task. Wei Wuyin had been forced to exhaust a few Mystic-World grade products, including several of his own, and even then, he had only stabilized her situation. It was like holding a heavy dumbbell up high with an outstretched arm; the act was exhausting and painful.

The origin of this pain was the usage of his soul energy to exert his authority of Law, while the weight was the sheer complexity of constructing and maintaining her body. That said, he wasn't one to give up halfway. Since he said she would survive, not even the Heavenly Daos could halt his actions to save her.

"We're leaving!"

Wei Wuyin received a transmission through his Void Ring from Su Mei. Shui Fengbao was faster than expected.

Fortunately, his Second Mind, Ori, Kratos, and Eden were focused on the life-saving operation; he was free to act and answer as he pleased without causing irreversible consequences.

"You've obtained that treasure?"

Su Mei responded, her happiness leaking a bit in her tone: "Yes!"

The sound of her joy caused Wei Wuyin to feel his heart stir. Su Mei rarely showed such emotions, so this sound was like falling rain in the desert to his soul. Despite it hurting a little, he couldn't help but smile. "Good!"

"...Will you be okay?" The tone of joy was crushed by concern. She could see him from her location. This meant she had just left, located him immediately, and sensed his situation. For some reason or another, Su Mei was one of the few who could pinpoint all of Wei Wuyin's feelings and emotions at a glance.

He didn't try to lie or hide his weakness in front of her, "It's quite a task, but I'm gaining significant understanding of the Resonant Soul Realm and their bodies. I'll compile what I've learned and have you peruse it."

"Mhm," Su Mei replied. Wei Wuyin could tell that she was transmitting her willingness to help if needed. She didn't impose, however. She trusted that he wouldn't allow his pride to overwhelm him or his future, so she would just wait and watch.

Chuckling in his heart, Wei Wuyin observed the Incinerated Dominion's fiery zone after its detonation. The core was rumbling chaotically. It was on the verge of eruption, and everyone could sense it.

Yue Baoyue was with an unconscious Sovereign Primal Star in a Void Vessel. She was anxious. If she didn't leave soon, she would be caught up in the explosion and vanish. However, if she left the boundary, then she would be targeted by Su Yi's enemies. She was so anxious that her forehead and hands were covered in sweat. If Su Yi doesn't come out soon, she's screwed.

Wei Wuyin sighed in his heart, deciding not to make any half-efforts. He transmitted spiritually: "Fairy Yue, you're under my protection. You may leave."

Yue Baoyue was shocked that she could hear Wei Wuyin's voice, but her racing heart shockingly calmed down. She licked her lips out of anxiety, glancing around the room before observing the unconscious Supreme Sage of exceptional beauty and talent.

"What about Chu Xing?"

'Chu Xing?' Wei Wuyin hadn't heard of Sovereign Primal Star's name before. He thought briefly before replying: "I'll protect her on your account until Su Yi exits out of his tribulation gate. After that, her life or death won't concern me."

Yue Baoyue glowed with elation. Her racing heart had already fully calmed down as she found a pillar to rely on. She held not an iota of fear in her heart as she piloted the Void Vessel to leave the fiery zone.

When she exited, she cautiously glanced using the sensory formation on the vessel. She was happy that Wei Wuyin was truthful with his words, and she hurriedly flew away, hoping to enter a galactic zone.

But after a few hours of flight, she realized that the galactic zones were sealed entirely. No new entries or exits. She was trapped. Anchoring in the Dark Void, she quietly watched. The fact that no fear entered her heart was miraculously incredible, and many would find her behavior incredibly odd.

As for those seeking to take advantage of either woman, the Incandescent Star Palace Lord transmitted to any who had the idea that a bounty equivalent to Su Yi's would be placed on their head if they even tried. Instantly halting all potential attempts at gaining a hostage advantage, even those who were manipulated to take action by others.

A full day later—

BOOM!!!

A seismic wave was unleashed before a fiery maelstrom emerged, engulfing the entire fiery zone. All that was inside or remaining was instantly killed via incineration, no exceptions.

Only Su Yi, whose tribulation was ongoing, was unaffected.

Then, after the incandescent radiance painted the various planets, starfields, stellar regions, and nearby galactic zones in a golden hue, the sound of a breath being taken resounded. It traveled through all the chaos. It traveled through the Void. It traveled to spirits, souls, and minds within range.

The breath was powerful, absurdly so. It made one feel like an infant, listening to the powerful first breath of their father, bringing an unsettling calm and sense of safety. However, to a select few, this breath was like a reaper's howl.

"HE SUCCEEDED!" Two words echoed in the mind of whoever heard that sound! They instinctively knew…

…Su Yi had ascended a step further!
