"Well, didn't Medea do a number on him?" I asked. "If it wasn't for the Tokyo Trio intervening, they would have died... I don't know if he'd trust us."

"Yeah, I'm aware, but as her friend, he might consider it," my father said. "As for Medea... I wish she'd succeeded, but she was vastly outnumbered. She only sent an Arcane Avatar and didn't go with her true body, which is for the best anyway. You saw the wound she received from that attack, right?"

"I healed it, though," I giggled. "It contained a delicious Divine Essence I assimilated into my being. I learned a bit of that god's technique, or rather, part of its philosophy, instructions, and formula, but not entirely."

I had gained a Skill, but what are Skills compared to a masterful technique? What I obtained as a Skill could never compare to the real thing.

Maybe later I should learn to convert Skills into proper Martial Arts or Cultivation Methods by reverse-engineering them.

This would mean creating the same effects as these Skills without relying on the Skill or the System itself.

"Susanoo, the God of Storms and Swords, huh?" My father's eyes glowed bright red. "I'm quite interested in that fellow. He seems strong and apparently had some friendship with Beowulf, the Patriarch of Tokyo's Werewolves. Although Medea lost, we learned a lot about these three faction masters. To think that dog has the power of a God is surprising. I didn't even know that. He must have hidden that power well when we first fought... or perhaps he's grown stronger since then."

"You fought that man, Father?" I asked.

"Years ago," he said. "When I first settled here, they opposed me. I was taking their land and expanding my territory rapidly by driving them out. They were unprepared. Some gods tried to intervene, but we agreed to an uneasy harmony. As long as I don't take too much, and they don't stir up trouble, they've accepted the Chaos Gate. Now that I've grown it so large, it's hard for them to stop it."

"So you're at peace, then?" I asked.

"Conditional, or something like that," he said. "Not exactly peace as you think. We could fight at any time. The only reason we don't is resources. Nobody's foolish enough to attack the other. It risks resources and valuable workers..."

From what I know, the original Chaos Gate was almost like terrorists, hated by everyone and constantly attacking the organizations and groups protecting Tokyo.

But my father, being much "nicer" and aiming to create a place for me to grow up, went to great lengths to avoid the chaos of the original world where Frank came from.

That old Chaos Gate is long gone. Frank dismantled it completely... and honestly, I don't feel bad for them. They were truly evil.

Apparently, the original version of my father was a despicable, ruthless, emotionless monster masquerading as a man. He had no qualms about sacrificing his lackeys or killing them on the spot.

But my father cares. If he can help with it, he prefers his agents not to die in reckless, pointless wars. He plays it slowly and safely, expanding bit by bit with small-scale conflicts, sometimes winning, sometimes losing, but never sacrificing so much as to weaken his position. He always maintains the high status he has.

"By now, our Chaos Gate is very large, even compared to the rest of the world," my father said. "In Japan, we have nearly the same numbers, strength, and economic and political influence as the Amaterasu Clan, who have direct ties to the Imperial Family and essentially govern all of Japan with other God Clans in the background."

"Really? We're as big as the Imperial Family?!" I asked. "And we're foreigners... that's hilarious."

"Hahaha! Indeed, it is! We're that great, Kireina! Why do you think everyone's desperate to join us?" he laughed. "The Amaterasu Clan doesn't accept those with too many criminal records, you see. They're as picky as the Japanese themselves. But at the Chaos Gate, we're different. Our exams are ruthless, and participants can and will die. But those who get far enough are guaranteed to join, no questions asked. We don't care about their pasts. As long as they behave within the agency, work hard, and show loyalty, they're well paid and enjoy countless welfare benefits."

"Oho!" I nodded, admiring my father's strategy. "So by recruiting those the Amaterasu Clan rejects, we've expanded faster while building enmity against them, huh? I bet many in our ranks hold grudges against them."

"Of course they do," he nodded. "I haven't told you, but there are other Chaos Gate branches across the globe. They were once different Criminal Families, Demonic Cultivator Clans, and Devilish Sects. I absorbed them by defeating and devouring their greatest leaders. Now, the current leaders, appointed by me, work directly for me. We earn a lot from their efforts, and they enjoy our welfare benefits."

"W-What? I had no idea! I thought we were only in Japan," I said.

"That would be too limiting. Japan is a small country, after all, but it's full of Divine Domains and Spiritual Realms, so that's why our main branch is here. The territory we're taking over has a large concentration of Spirit Veins, abundant in these mountains," my father explained. "It's the perfect place for my organization to flourish. Spiritual energy and mana are rich here, so everyone can grow stronger and cultivate faster... and of course, you, my dear. You wouldn't have grown as healthy as you did if I hadn't taken this territory. I did it out of necessity as well."

"Me?" I asked, confused.

"Yes, when you were born, you were sick, unable to balance your Chaotic Soul, inherited from me, with the body given by your mother," he said. "So Mirabilis recommended I take over an area full of Spiritual Veins and Mana, a Spiritual Realm as they call these contained Domains. I conquered this area with all my might so you could grow up healthy in a place rich with spiritual energy and high-quality elemental mana, especially these mountains, overflowing with nature mana, essential for someone with a Fae Bloodline to grow healthy."

"Oh..." I finally learned one of the truths of my origin and why my father did what he did. "So that's why..."

But then, why did the original version of my father from Frank's Earth invade Japan?

Was it for entirely different motives?

I guess I'll never know.
