Death… And Me

Chapter 3840: Wrong

Chapter 3840: Wrong

*Zush!*

Roan appeared outside as well, taking a look at the events in front. "No networks available, and now this. We need to get out of this Universe straight away. It is likely that the Werdlem Empire sent its Spaceships and is now battling the Umbras."

"But how will we find a Void Shifter without access to the network?" Rean asked back.

Roan pointed at the Spaceships. "There are plenty of idiots for us to capture and extract information. Just use your Light and Divine Sense Bending and approach the battlefield, but not too much. Then all you need to do is wait. Sooner or later, someone will try to flee, retreat, change their position, or whatever. That’s our chance."

Rean and Kentucky nodded, quickly approaching the battlefield with another Spatial Gate. Of course, Kentucky controlled it so they wouldn’t appear too close. Then, finally, they hid and got closer without anyone detecting them.

That was an enormous battlefield, but the level wasn’t that high. Rean could feel one or another Divinity Realm cultivations, but they were all in the Initial Stage only. Evidently, this battlefield here wasn’t that important.

Now, they had a better chance to take a look at the battles themselves. Just like Roan mentioned, it was indeed a battle between the Living Beings and the Umbras. Countless Umbras overwhelmed the living beings in number, but the living beings were obviously much stronger individually.

’So... the Umbras are gathering in such places?’ Rean wondered.

’Not all of them,’ Roan corrected him. ’There are bound to be many more in other key locations. It matters not for us, though. There, here they come!’

The twins’ group saw a Demon Beast with heavy injuries flee the battlefield. It wasn’t trying to desert, but return to one of the Spaceships, it seemed. Also, it wasn’t alone, as a few other cultivators of different races followed it closely.

’Four targets,’ Roan was satisfied. ’Take all four of them. We will have a better chance to get the information we need with more of them.’

The targets were all in the Void Tempering or Space-Bending Realm. The twins’ group made their move, and in a split second, those four cultivators disappeared.

A nearby Spaceship noticed that and quickly sent a few patrol teams to check the area. Too bad they couldn’t find anything, wondering if that small group had been captured by Umbras somehow.

Not too far from there, the twins’ group was inside the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm. As for the four guys they captured, they were unconscious. Rean had to use his Light Element to make them wake up again.

"Ah!" The Demon Beast finally woke up, unaware of what was happening. But then it looked at its body, and all the injuries completely disappeared. "This..." The Demon Beast, who went by the name of Kiju, was also the one with the highest cultivation, Middle Stage of the Space-Bending Realm.

The other three who were captured with him noticed the same thing. All their injuries that forced them to retreat from the battlefield were gone. "Senior Kiju, what is happening here?"

Kiju was just as lost. "I’m... I’m not sure..."

"Don’t worry." It was then that Rean appeared in front of them. "I’ve healed all your injuries. You should be able to return to the battlefield soon."

"Who are you?!" Kiju and the others raised their guards. However, they soon noticed they couldn’t move a single iota of Divine Energy in their bodies. Not only that, but their Divine Senses didn’t work either. "Wait... is this your Pocket Dimensional Realm?"

Rean nodded. "Yes. I saw you guys on your way back to your Spaceship. Sorry for the abrupt way I caught you. I just need you to answer me a few questions, and then I’ll be on my way."

Kiju and the others obviously wouldn’t just accept that... if they were outside. Unfortunately, they knew exactly what it meant to be inside someone else’s Pocket Dimensional Realm, so they could only comply. Well, Rean knocked them out so fast they didn’t even see that happening, so it didn’t really matter much if they were inside a Pocket Dimensional Realm or not. Rean in front of them was clearly much, much stronger. "As long as it doesn’t involve any classified information, we won’t mind."

Rean’s smile increased. "Good. I’m Dandei. You see, I came to this Universe because it was pretty good for my own experiments for obvious reasons. I got the results I needed, and then I went into seclusion to work on the next steps of my experiments. Yet, I just came out a day ago, and for some reason, both the Werdlem Network and this Universe’s Private Network were inaccessible. Then, I bump into this war on my way back to the Divine Realm. Would you mind putting me up to the latest events? What is happening to D33?"

Kiju and the others sighed in relief. What Rean wanted to know wasn’t any secret, so they could easily answer. "So senior Dandei was caught by surprise. Yes, it makes sense. There are plenty of researchers like you who aren’t aware of the situation for similar reasons."

Kiju continued. "Senior, things have taken a turn for the worse, and you probably won’t have any more test subjects for your experimentation. In fact, it would be better if Senior requested an exit from D33 as soon as possible."

"Hum?" Rean looked puzzled. Of course, he knew why experimentation couldn’t happen anymore. His group was responsible for it, after all. However, he still didn’t know the rest. "Can you elaborate?"

"Yes," Kiju complied. "You see..."

Turns out that this fleet of Spaceships wasn’t from the Werdlem Empire, but from Universe D37. The Werdlem Empire first ordered the nearby Universes to go ahead of them and try to wear the Umbras down. That’s why such fleets arrived this fast.

The Werdlem Empire also arranged some of its own top experts to use the Great Void Shifters of these nearby universes, and they are the ones commanding the main fleets. The fleet the twins found was actually a very small one compared to the real big entourages.

Rean found it a little overkill, but then he found out he was wrong a moment later.

"We are actually on the back foot at the moment. From the looks of it... an Umbra has become the Universe Owner."
