Chapter 4511: Let’s Go

Vancuger couldn’t help but sigh. ’So he was trying to kill himself after all...’ However, things didn’t play out as Vancuger expected.

Roan heard the messages in his mind, all in Sister Orb’s voice. That’s why he hadn’t been afraid of anything when he touched the pillar. If there was truly something harmful to his soul, the system would block it.

The only reason Roan hadn’t wanted to do it in the middle of the crowd was because he didn’t want to attract unnecessary attention. That’s why he had asked if there was another one of those pillars somewhere where there wasn’t anyone.

Unfortunately, Vancuger had told him there wasn’t. All of them could be found in relatively busy locations, with cultivators constantly passing through. It made sense considering that these pillars were apparently meant to provide those who wanted to end their lives with an easy way out. There was little point in hiding them somewhere nobody would find them. That said, it mattered little whether Roan tried it here or anywhere else.

As the system blocked the threat, Roan’s Godly Sense entered the pillar. He was touching it directly, after all. As mentioned before, he had been feeling its call ever since he arrived in Woster. At first, he had assumed it might have something to do with the Dead Souls he had sensed around it, but after observing them more carefully, Roan understood that they weren’t what had been reacting to him. Instead, whatever it was came from the pillar itself.

Roan narrowed his eyes. Was it the echo that was calling him? No, that didn’t make sense. Finding one here was certainly important, but Roan couldn’t shake the feeling that something else was involved.

[Attempt to extract the Echo failed.]

In the end, the system failed to bring it out. Roan wasn’t paying much attention to that, though. Instead, his mind was elsewhere. For those outside, Roan was simply standing there with his hand against the pillar. For Roan, however, it felt more like he was traveling somewhere completely different. His body hadn’t moved at all, yet his consciousness seemed to be sinking deeper and deeper into something that existed beyond the physical world.

*Tum-dum, tum-dum, tum-dum...*

Suddenly, he felt something pulsating at the end of that strange mental journey. It was quite large, a navy-blue and golden-colored rock floating in the middle of an endless space.

’No, that’s not a rock...’ Roan recognized it, but before he could examine it further, Rean’s voice suddenly echoed in his mind.

’Hey, isn’t that the same womb where we found Luxa? Hum... that one is blue, though.’

Roan’s mouth twitched. ’Can’t you get the fuck out? I’m concentrating here.’

’Oh, right! Let me know when you’re done.’ Rean left straight away.

Roan took a breath and returned his attention to the strange space. The navy blue and golden object floated silently before him, looking similar to Luxa’s womb but with some obvious differences. The threads extending from it seemed to disappear directly into the surrounding space. They weren’t like the threads connected to Luxa’s womb in the past. Luxa’s one went deep underground. They didn’t simply disappear.

Roan was about to investigate further, but he was once again interrupted, this time by Sister Orb.

[I would go back if I were you.]

Roan frowned. ’Why?’

Roan’s body was still standing before the Goodbye World Pillar, and without him knowing, three cultivators had already made their way toward him. A few of the cultivators nearby noticed what was happening and simply shook their heads.

In their eyes, Roan was already dead. His soul was gone, and only his body remained behind. Vancuger also sighed, but he didn’t intervene. As he had mentioned before, those guys were always watching the pillars to see if they could gain something from those who committed suicide at the pillar. There was nothing illegal about taking the possessions left behind, either. As far as everyone was concerned, the owner was dead.

One of them reached out and was just about to take Roan’s Spatial Ring when—

*Vuf!*

Roan’s eyes opened!

"FUCK OFF!"

*Zush! Vuf!*

He rotated his body, and three kicks flew out almost simultaneously.

*BANG! BANG! BANG!*

*Arrrghhh!*

Those three cultivators were sent flying. They were only Low-Level Aura Gods, so they simply had no chance of blocking Roan’s attacks. Their bodies crashed into the ground several meters away, rolling a few times before finally coming to a stop.

Roan, meanwhile, was in a terrible mood. First, Rean had appeared out of nowhere to bother him while he was investigating something important. Then, while he was trying to understand the strange object inside the pillar, these three pieces of shit had tried to rob him of his Spatial Ring and Ring Communicator. They had certainly chosen the worst possible target.

Everyone who had been passing by and watching couldn’t help but stop. They all looked at Roan as if they were looking at a ghost.

"How is he alive?"

"He did touch the Goodbye World Pillar, didn’t he?"

"Perhaps he was using gloves?"

"What gloves? Are you hallucinating?"

Vancuger quickly approached, feeling just as shocked as everyone else. "Yo-You... How did you manage to stay alive?"

Roan glanced at him, then at the crowd around them. "Let’s get out of here first."

"Eh?!" Vancuger was taken aback for a moment before realizing Roan was right. "Ah... right, yes, let’s..."

The two immediately ran away from there. As for the trio who tried to steal from Roan, they weren’t dead, but they definitely wouldn’t wake up anytime soon. Their injuries were serious enough to leave them unconscious, and once they eventually woke up, they would discover that their Spatial Rings were gone as well.

Meanwhile, high in the skies above Dlaval City, Kentucky and Kachia continued flying around. Kachia obviously had no idea what Kentucky was actually looking for, and from her perspective, he seemed to be flying around almost randomly.

Every now and then, he would suddenly change direction for no apparent reason, only to continue flying a few moments later. They also stopped often to have some fun here and there, and Kachia didn’t mind it much. She was quite similar to Kentucky in this regard, and she was having fun flying around without having to worry about anything in particular. Nonetheless, her curiosity continued to increase.

"Don’t you think it is about time you told me what you want?" Kachia couldn’t help but ask.

"Hm?" Kentucky looked at her. "Sorry, that has to do with a few secrets that I’m not allowed to talk about."

"You can trust me, you know?" Kachia countered. "In fact, I find it very hard to believe anyone in Besgol would betray your group. You are just too important to Besgol."

Kentucky scratched the back of his head with his wing. "It is not like I don’t trust you. It’s just that even if I told you what I’m looking for, it wouldn’t make any difference. This isn’t something you can help us with. I definitely like the company, though."

That was the truth. Kentucky was flying around, hoping that Sister Orb would detect the Great Void Echo that had been given by the quest. In a certain way, even Kentucky himself couldn’t help much other than fly around and search. Still, that didn’t mean he could simply explain everything to Kachia.

Kachia didn’t look very convinced. "Fine, if you don’t want to talk, so be it. Perhaps it will be better if I go back to Father’s side."

"Wa-Wait!" Kentucky immediately held her back. "I can’t tell you what it is exactly, but I can tell you that it’s a kind of energy. We believe it is likely related to the reason why Woster is isolated."

Kachia looked at him. That wasn’t exactly the best explanation, but at least it gave her something to work with. "Fine, that will do for now."

Then, she looked in another direction. "In that case, we might as well fly to the Central District. Something that important has to be somewhere there, right?"

Kentucky sighed in relief. "Maybe. Wanna give it a try?"

"Sure!" Kachia smiled. "Let’s go!"

The two Demon Birds immediately changed direction and flew toward the Central District.
