Death… And Me

Chapter 3856: High Talent

Chapter 3856: High Talent

There were a few hundred cages in the prisoners’ area. Some had humanoid race beings, others had a few low-level demon beasts, and there was even one with two spirits inside. There were no divisions either, as you could find demon beasts put together with the other races. The Wengel Tribe only appeared now and then to pass the food and water, but other than that, they didn’t pay much attention to it. The cages were made of a material that could easily hold Foundation Establishment Realm Experts, and everyone there was at that level exactly.

It was not because this Universe was very easy to cultivate that everyone could do it. In fact, most beings wouldn’t go much further than Core Formation or Core and Soul Fusion. The only reason everyone was at the Foundation Establishment Realm was basically because everyone was already born at that level. Or Stage Two, in the case of Demon Beasts.

Besides, let’s not forget that Divine Werdlem Stones don’t just appear out of nowhere. That said, these Foundation Establishment Beings couldn’t use a single iota of Divine Energy. How could they possibly cultivate?

---

No one noticed, but during that night, one of the very few empty cages was suddenly occupied while the prisoners were sleeping. It looked just like any other cage, and inside, you would find five kids, an unremarkable demon bird, and a jelly-like being being held by the girl. The jelly looked more like a pet slime than anything else. Every single one of them was in the Foundation Establishment Realm or Stage Two. No one there looked to be more than ten years old or so, either.

Of course, that wasn’t the case at all. It was all thanks to Rean’s Body Transformation and Roan’s pills that their bodies now looked like those of kids. The twins’ group suppressed their cultivations and pretended that they, too, didn’t have Divine Werdlem Stones in their bodies.

The next morning, as the guards passed by with the food and water, one of them stopped for a moment in front of the twins’ group cage. "Hum? Were these ones here yesterday?"

His companion, unwilling to waste even a second more there, rebuked the guy. "Of course not! They came from the skies, encaged themselves, and threw the key away because why not? Right? Why are you even paying attention to these ants? Fuck give them the food and let’s get out of here."

His friend’s mouth twitched. "You didn’t need to be that sarcastic..."

"I’ll be a lot more than just sarcastic if you waste more of my time in this place," which the other didn’t give a damn.

Rean and the others heard that and almost burst into laughter. Surprisingly, that guy’s sarcasm was right on point. They truly came from the skies and caged themselves. It’s just that they could leave anytime they felt like. They wouldn’t do that, obviously.

During the next few days, the guards got used to the twins’ group presence. This tribe constantly went to battle, so the cages would be filled with more prisoners now and then. There was nothing new there.

Of course, the prisoners weren’t kept there for nothing. After five days of imprisonment, all the cages were opened, and the prisoners were brought to the central area of the Wengel Tribe. There were around three hundred of them, ’all’ unable to cultivate due to the lack of a Werdlem Stone.

It wasn’t only the tribe experts there. There were several more beings wearing different attire waiting for them. Not too far behind, the twins’ group could see more cages prepared for transportation on a floating platform.

Even though this was a tribe, it didn’t mean they had no technology whatsoever. Electronics could be seen here and there, although most looked quite worn out, old, and dirty.

The twins’ group’s Divine Senses were spread, and they heard the conversation between the tribe leader and the leader of that entourage. The new guy was a merchant, a slave merchant.

"Rinkei, the batch this time around seems pretty low quality, don’t you think?" Donfug, the merchant leader, pointed out.

"Sigh..." Rinkei knew what he meant. "There wasn’t much we could do about it, Donfug. We have been living in this area for quite a few years, so the nearby tribes either moved away from us or have been a lot more cautious. Getting more slaves for sale, and of higher quality, has been quite difficult. I’ve been discussing with the elders of the tribe, and we are probably moving to another area soon. Once we move, we should have better products to show you again."

Donfug nodded. "Well, we have been conducting business for over two decades, so I will trust your words."

He turned to his subordinates, passing the message. "Let’s get it over with. Check the merchandise and see what can be used. Make sure to check their talents. Some of them might be worth grooming for the arena in the city."

Donfug’s subordinates took out devices capable of testing one’s talent, just like any other universe. Soon, they arrived in front of the twins’ group and began testing each one.

The talent measurement in A1 wasn’t much different from the other Universes. It was somewhat more advanced, though, giving a much more precise description. With that, the talents were separated into levels instead of colors, and there were twelve levels instead of seven.

As one could expect, each one of the twins’ group had a high talent, all at level nine or ten. Well, they could all be level twelve if they wanted, but there wasn’t a need to go that far.

’B-Boss, come here, quick!’ One of Donfug’s subordinates sent him a Divine Sense message so only Donfug would hear it.

Donfug smiled and walked around as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened. He finally reached his subordinate, who stealthily showed Donfug the data on his device. Donfug’s pretense almost dropped there when he saw those numbers, but he was able to control himself. ’Are you sure this is right?’

’Yes,’ his subordinate nodded. ’I used another two different ones, and I tested the other prisoners around to make sure it wasn’t a mistake. The numbers are definitely correct!’

Donfug glanced in Rinkel’s direction, who didn’t seem to care too much about what was going on around. ’I love that guy. He rarely wastes time testing the prisoners he gets from other tribes, and now and then, you find a gem or two in the batches he acquires. Today, however, he truly outdone himself. He will be losing a fortune. Hahaha!’

’Alright, carry over the procedures, and pretend there is nothing wrong,’ Donfug ordered.

Donfug slowly walked away, but he couldn’t help but take one last look at the twins’ group. ’Same handcuffs... they must have been captured in the same tribe. Were they perhaps some tribe’s secret that was left behind by mistake? Anyway, truly a great finding.’

Later that day, the cages left the Wengel Tribe, carrying the twins’ group and another fifty or so prisoners. "Back to Enrel City, let’s go!"
