Death… And Me

Chapter 4278: Can’t Forget Him

Chapter 4278: Can’t Forget Him

One thing the Godly Creatures had was their ability to detect their surroundings, just like Spiritual, Divine, or Celestial Sense. The difference is that they can perceive the presence of beings that don’t emit Godly Pressure.

As mentioned before, that’s one of the ways they use to identify each other. So, when Fonken noticed the shadow, and it got close enough for him to see it was Roan, he got puzzled. How did Roan get so close to the Godly Predator, and the Predator failed to notice him?

The answer was the same one as before: Roan used their cultivation technique in reverse to emit their own Godly Pressure. He went even further this time. The amount he was emitting was so low that Roan looked more like part of the environment. Fonken, who was just there, didn’t notice Roan was also emitting it.

Of course, the Predator would definitely notice Roan, even with Roan’s control of his Godly Pressure. However, due to the frantic situation, and especially because the Predator was going for the killing blow, it failed to notice Roan’s approach. Its attention was solely on Fonken, which it considered the biggest danger.

Roan’s Scythe struck directly from above, at the Wolf’s Neck! Roan put his everything in that strike, and even stopped the Godly Pressure in the surroundings for a fraction of a second.

*Swish!*

"Tch..." Roan’s eyes narrowed when he landed the attack, though. His Scythe... stopped before it could go deep enough to cause fatal damage before coming out.

Why did he fail? Was it a lack of strength? No, that wasn’t the case. The Godly Predator wasn’t the type with high defenses. It was truly a more speed-based creature. But it was exactly that speed that it used.

When Roan used the Yin Yang Sanctuary for a fraction of a second, the Predator obviously noticed its own Godly Pressure disappearing, and the Sacred Relic’s influence weakening it as a result. That was an alarm, and by instinct, it found Roan just as he was going to strike its neck!

It couldn’t be helped. At the end of the day, Roan was just an Initial Stage Anchor God. In terms of strength, he was two entire realms weaker than that Godly Predator. There is only so much you can do when the gap is that enormous.

Thus, the Godly Predator weirdly twisted its body, forcing its own neck to drop downwards faster than it originally was. Since Roan’s Scythe was also in a downwards movement, the strength of the Death Scythe skill was reduced by more than half. It cut deep, and blood began to come out, but the Wolf survived.

But then, as if it were a deja vu, another Roan appeared. No, this Roan had white hair, and he was hidden perfectly behind the black-haired one. Of course, that wasn’t Roan but Rean! Roan wasn’t certain that he would be able to take the Wolf down in a single hit, so Rean joined him when they jumped off Kentucky’s back!

’Red Death, Crimson Lightning Draw!’

The Wolf now had its full attention on Roan, and especially Rean, who had his sword coming for the same gap Roan’s Scythe had just opened. It burst with even more Godly Energy, and its Golden Spikes shone once again. They all pointed upwards, aiming to shoot at Rean before his Sword could land the hit!

Time seemed to slow down in that critical juncture.

Rean narrowed his eyes, and for a moment, he wondered if he should call the attack back. He could tell his defenses wouldn’t be enough to resist that attack if they hit him head-on. Roan wouldn’t be able to help either. The momentum of his attack carried him forward, and he had no chance to recover.

But then, something neither Rean nor Roan expected happened.

’Hmph! So you think it is okay to forget I exist, uh?!’

Rean and Roan heard that Celestial Sense message, which was simply spread in all directions.

*Grab!*

Who was the one the Wolf was originally attacking?

Fonken!!!

He was there, right in front of the Godly Predator! The Predator truly forgot about him after the twins’ actions, so Fonken shot forward and grabbed its head! Normally, that would be a suicidal action. The Wolf could definitely bite Fonken’s neck off in that position. But... that was not such a moment.

Rean’s eyes lit up as the Golden Spikes on the Wolf’s back lost their power. Fonken’s sudden grab completely robbed the Predator of its attention! Now, it was too late!

*Swish!*

*Kabrum!*

With Fonken holding the Wolf’s head in place, Rean’s attack truly struck with the perfect angle and strength. This time, the Crystal Void Weapon went through the rest of the neck, cutting the Godly Predator’s Head off as the sound of lightning spread everywhere!

The Godly Predator was finally killed!

*Bang! Bang! Crack, crack, crack...*

Both Rean and Roan fell to the ground like heavy rocks!

They couldn’t fly, and jumping from such a high altitude was bound to break various of their bones, which just did. They didn’t have another choice. They needed the momentum of the fall to be able to carry enough power and speed to cut the Wolf’s head; such was the difference in cultivation. Just the fact that they calculated the precise location the Wolf would be when they got down was already amazing enough.

Fonken didn’t let the Wolf’s head drop, only the body. He looked at Rean and Roan, and he was calm. He was also an ascender; he had been through countless life and death situations. That’s also why he was able to react at the right moment for them to finish the job. "I have questions, but we can talk about that later. What about the Godly Beasts and Godly Spawns?"

Before the broken Rean or Roan could answer, Kentucky came through the foliage of the branches of the trees, landing close to them. "We need to leave, now! The rest of their group is coming our way!"

That immediately answered Fonken’s question. The twins’ group did not kill the Godly Beasts and Spawns. They just lured them far enough and used Kentucky to fly back. The reason was clear as day. Killing the Godly Predator was the priority. They could deal with the Godly Beasts later.

Several vines shot out of Kentucky’s back, grabbing Rean, Roan, Zuary, and another two Anchor Gods that had survived the battle. Then, Celis’s voice was heard. "Go, Kentucky. I have them all. Fonken, you are an Aura God. I believe you can at least escape their pursuit on your own, right?"

Fonken bitterly smiled. He was completely out of Godly Energy. He would have a hard time just moving with his own injuries, especially if he tried to bring the Wolf’s head with them. "You are asking a little too much from me now."

"Bring him too, Celis," Kentucky said.

"Can you carry the extra weight?" Celis asked back, looking at Fonken and the extra Wolf Head.

"I just need to use a few Godly Crystals to recover my strength on the way. I can’t use Godly Energy for flight, but I can definitely use it to strengthen my wings, which will bring the same result. Take him."

Celis nodded, and more vines wrapped around Fonken and the Godly Predator’s head. Finally, Kentucky flapped his wings with all the strength he could muster, and their group took flight.

Just a minute after Kentucky and the others left, the Godly Beasts and Spawns arrived. Too bad they only found the Predator’s headless body.
