Chapter 4422: I’ll Take My Chances

Tobao and Arcis had known from the very beginning that someone was pulling the strings behind everything. Since they themselves were the only Law Gods in the Besgol Region, the mastermind could only be another Law God from a different Region.

As Roan had pointed out, it was most likely someone at the Late or Peak Stage of the Law God Realm, an expert whose cultivation had stagnated for many years or who was already nearing the end of his lifespan. Perhaps it was both.

Even after figuring all of that out, however, they still didn’t know who the culprit actually was.

Today, that answer finally stood before them.

"Xigazou!"

Xigazou merely snorted, looking at the two without the slightest hint of guilt.

"What?" he asked. "Do you have a problem with me?"

Arcis immediately took a step forward, his temper flaring. He was already about to curse at the man when Tobao quietly raised a hand, stopping him before he could speak.

"Xigazou," Tobao said calmly, "do you even understand what you are doing? This place is still barely within the coverage of the Besgol Network. Everything happening here is being transmitted back to the Region as we speak, which means everyone already knows it was you."

His voice remained composed, yet every word carried considerable weight.

"You are practically condemning your Ocalfin Region. If the day ever comes when they require help the way Besgol did during the Godly Horrors invasion, no one will answer their call. No amount of resources will be enough to compensate for what you’ve done because it goes directly against the principles of the Regions Alliance."

After a brief pause, Tobao sighed.

"It still isn’t too late. Return the Godly Apex Crystal, apologize, and leave. We can still work something out afterward. There is no point trying to hide anymore. If you take one step back now, at least everyone will know you were willing to repent for the sake of your own Region."

Tobao wasn’t exaggerating.

The moment Xigazou appeared, he had silently reconnected to the Godly Subjugation Guild through the Besgol Network. At this very moment, countless higher-ups throughout Besgol were watching everything unfold in stunned silence.

The operation had remained a closely guarded secret from beginning to end. Aside from Tobao, Arcis, and the twins’ group, no one else knew the complete plan. Even many influential figures inside Besgol had been intentionally kept in the dark.

Because of that, the revelation struck everyone like a bolt from the heavens.

"The Law God of the Ocalfin Region stole our Region’s Godly Apex Crystal?!"

"This... this can’t be!"

"What about the Regions Alliance?"

"Everyone knows something like this could destroy an entire Region!"

"Does he really not care about Ocalfin’s future?"

"Unbelievable..."

The voices continued one after another as everyone struggled to process what they were witnessing. A Law God personally violating the alliance and attempting to steal another Region’s future...

That was something entirely reckless.

Xigazou remained silent for several seconds after hearing Tobao’s words.

Then, laughter suddenly echoed across the mountains.

"Hahahahahaha!"

It continued for a long moment before abruptly stopping. When Xigazou looked back at Tobao again, there wasn’t the slightest trace of hesitation in his eyes.

"SO WHAT?!"

His voice boomed through the surroundings. "I’ve been trapped at the Peak Stage of the Law God Realm for what feels like an eternity! My lifespan is almost gone! Do you have any idea what that feels like?"

He didn’t wait for an answer. "Did you know? Sometimes I even regret ascending to the Celestial Plane." His expression gradually became more distorted. "Back in my Great Void, my lifespan was practically endless. Other than worrying about losing my heart, there wasn’t anything else I needed to fear."

He clenched his fists tightly. "But here... here..."

"This damned Celestial Plane is complete bullshit!"

He practically roared the next words. "You can’t cultivate without Godly Crystals! At my level, even Godly Horror Crystals barely make any difference anymore! You’ll understand that sooner or later... assuming you don’t die before reaching my cultivation."

His breathing became noticeably heavier. "I hate this place. I hate that the Celestial Plane drags everyone back into the cycle of life through lifespan!"

"You idiot!" Arcis’s voice was just as loud. "Don’t tell me you didn’t know all of this beforehand! You had an entire Great Void behind you! Don’t try to convince me that none of the strongest experts explained the Celestial Plane to you before you ascended. I refuse to believe that. You knew you would acquire a lifespan again since our bodies and souls are destroyed and remade. You knew exactly what you were getting into, yet you still chose to come."

Arcis pointed directly at him. "So why are you blaming the Celestial Plane now? You’re the one responsible for your own choices, not the environment."

"Hmph." Xigazou simply dismissed everything with a cold snort. "It doesn’t matter anymore."

He slowly lifted the sealed box in his hand. "With this Godly Apex Crystal, I finally have a chance to break through into the Region God Realm." Then, his eyes turned icy as he looked at Tobao and Arcis. "If you insist on standing in my way, I’ll kill both of you."

His killing intent surged without restraint. "The only way you’ll ever recover this Godly Apex Crystal is by killing me."

A faint smile appeared on his face. "And you won’t be able to do it."

Tobao still wasn’t willing to give up. "The same could be said about you. Just because you’re at the Peak Stage of the Law God Realm doesn’t mean killing the two of us will be easy. Especially not when Arcis and I are standing here together."

He then slowly shook his head. "But that isn’t even the biggest problem."

Xigazou frowned slightly.

Tobao continued in the same calm tone. "Where exactly do you intend to go after today? Returning to Besgol is impossible. The Sacred Relic will detect you the moment you enter our borders, and there will be no shortage of ways to hunt you down afterward."

He looked directly into Xigazou’s eyes. "And what about Ocalfin? Do you really think they’ll welcome you back after this? Everything happening here is already being transmitted not only to Besgol but to Ocalfin and every other Region connected to the alliance. Before either of us starts a battle here, they’ll already know exactly what you’ve done."

He took a slow breath.

"So I’ll ask one last time."

"Return our Godly Apex Crystal."

"Teleport back to Ocalfin."

"Otherwise..."

Xigazou didn’t even bother letting him finish.

He simply turned around and began walking back toward the estate.

"I’ll take my chances."
