Chapter 4442: I Know Nothing!
Roan looked somewhat surprised. "So that’s what you call it here as well?" He nodded. "Yes. You could say that."
Lukay’s mind nearly stopped working.
Every ascender knew about the legends surrounding Great Void Owners. They were mythical existences, spoken of countless times but never actually seen. At least, that had always been the case within the Regions Besgol could communicate with. Yet now, four of them were calmly sitting inside the same airplane as him, talking about their Great Void as if it were nothing unusual.
Roan continued before Lukay could interrupt again.
"We can establish a connection with our own Great Void and draw a little of its Echo into the Celestial Plane. Unfortunately, the amount we can use is extremely limited. The Celestial Plane exists on a completely different level from the Great Voids below."
He paused briefly before adding, "Calling a Great Void an ant standing before an elephant would already be giving the Great Void far too much credit. The difference between them is simply that ridiculous. Because of that, the amount of Echo I can directly bring over isn’t nearly enough to resist the Godly Pressure."
"So..." Lukay slowly followed the explanation. "You stored that power inside the pills instead."
Roan nodded. "Exactly. I gradually accumulate Echo Energy inside every pill throughout the entire concoction process. It takes several hours to produce even one batch, but by the end, each pill contains enough Echo to block the Godly Pressure for a few minutes after being absorbed."
Lukay fell silent again.
Everything Roan said sounded absurd. If someone else had told him this story, he would have dismissed it without a second thought. Yet he had personally experienced the pill’s effects. The Godly Pressure hadn’t disappeared. It had remained all around him, constantly pressing against his body. Somehow, however, it simply couldn’t penetrate his core.
There was no denying what he had just experienced.
At the same time, Roan discreetly glanced toward Rean.
Rean immediately understood the question and quietly checked the tiny pink spirit sleeping inside his body. After several seconds, he smiled. ’Nothing. It never reacted.’
Roan inwardly nodded. ’Good. That doesn’t necessarily prove Lukay is trustworthy. However, it does prove something else. If he truly intended to spread this knowledge after hearing it, the Pink Spirits should have awakened already. Since they remain asleep, we can safely assume he will keep his promise.’
Lukay suddenly remembered another conversation.
"Now I understand..." he muttered. "Clasou once told me your ability to fly and use Intent as Anchor and Aura Gods was probably related to your Great Void. At the time, I didn’t really understand what he meant."
His lightning pulsed once before continuing. "But now it makes perfect sense. As far as I know, there isn’t a single Great Void Owner anywhere within the communication range of the Besgol Region."
"Exactly," Roan confirmed. "And that should also explain why everything you see during this expedition must remain secret."
Lukay spent a long moment thinking about it before finally speaking again.
"These pills would undoubtedly be invaluable to the Besgol Region. However, no one else can reproduce them. Not only do they require several hours to concoct, they also depend on Miracle/Echo Energy from your own Great Void. Without another Great Void Owner, they’re impossible to copy."
His lightning gradually settled.
"If word of this spread, it wouldn’t help the Besgol Region at all. It would only create chaos. Every major force would demand these pills. Every Region that heard the rumors would want you under its control. Instead of helping people, you’d spend the rest of your lives running from those trying to capture you."
Even saying those words made Lukay feel exhausted.
"That bastard Clasou..." he muttered. "He could have warned me instead of throwing me into this mess. I’m going to zap his fucking ass after we get back."
Rean chuckled. "He doesn’t know."
Lukay immediately turned toward him. "...What?"
"He doesn’t know," Rean repeated with a smile.
Lukay’s lightning suddenly crackled around his core again. "What do you mean he doesn’t know?"
"Senior Clasou only knows that our Great Void is special," Rean explained. "As far as he’s concerned, that’s why we can fly at the Aura God Realm and use Intent. There aren’t any other ascenders from the Vinx Great Void for him to compare us with, so that’s the conclusion everyone reached."
He spread his hands. "Congratulations! You’re actually the first cultivator we’ve ever told that we’re Great Void Owners!"
Lukay remained completely silent.
For several long seconds, only the steady hum of the Celestial Thrusters echoed throughout the airplane.
Finally, his lightning flared violently.
"You... you shouldn’t have told me any of this!" he shouted. "Fuck! I was the one who kept asking! Me and my stupid curiosity!"
He drifted back and forth inside the cabin while countless arcs of lightning danced around his core. Eventually, they gradually calmed, and so did Lukay himself.
"...Alright," he finally said. "I know nothing. You never said anything. This conversation never happened. If one day all of this comes back to bite you, don’t you dare drag my name into it. I want to stay as far away from this mess as possible."
He paused before adding honestly, "Once this mission is over, I don’t ever want to see any of you again."
Roan gave a faint nod. "Works for us."
The atmosphere inside the airplane relaxed considerably after that. Even Lukay seemed relieved now that he had made up his mind to treat everything he had learned as if it didn’t exist.
Unfortunately for him, Kentucky suddenly remembered something. "Err... we still have to tell him about the other method."
The silence that had just settled inside the cabin immediately disappeared.
Lukay slowly turned toward Kentucky. "...Another method?"
Only then did he remember Roan’s earlier words before departing from Besgol. The pills weren’t the only way to resist Godly Pressure. Roan had mentioned there were two methods, and he had only seen the pills so far.
For the first time since boarding the airplane, Lukay sincerely wished he had forgotten something important.
"...I don’t think I’m going to like whatever comes next," he muttered. "Can’t we just pretend the pills are your only method?"
Roan immediately shook his head. "No. The pills are only a temporary solution. They work well enough for ordinary situations, but they only last a few minutes and take far too much time to produce. If we encounter something truly dangerous, they won’t be enough."
He looked out through the front window of the airplane toward the endless wilderness stretching beyond the horizon. "The second method is far more reliable."
Lukay already had a very bad feeling about where this conversation was heading.
Roan finally turned back to him. "Now then, let’s talk about our Sanctuary."
