Chapter 4502: Another One
Back where Roan healed Fariu...
Fariu slowly got up, looking around in a hurry after Roan finished healing him. His eyes immediately searched the surroundings, but he couldn’t find the two people who had been with him before the explosion.
"Wh-where are the others?"
"You mean Cloki-Hu and Palaka-Tian?" Arcis asked, answering the question straightaway. His expression remained indifferent as he looked at Fariu. "There is no need to look for them. They are dead. I had the power to protect you, but not the other two."
Fariu froze.
He had already guessed that possibility when he regained consciousness, but hearing it confirmed still made his heart sink. The two had followed him everywhere for a long time, and yet they had died in an instant because of that unexpected explosion.
"I see..." Fariu sighed in resignation before looking at Arcis again. "Wh-Why did Senior save me?"
Arcis didn’t want to save Fariu, actually. It was Roan who told him to do so. With that explosion and not knowing what was going to happen afterward, it would be better to have this Fariu owing them a favor, especially if that so-called Elder of his really arrived.
"The last thing I need is for that elder of yours to think I killed your group on purpose," Arcis explained. "Besides, I warned you to leave that place ahead of time. You insisted on staying."
Fariu smiled bitterly. Yes, he was the one who had forced the issue and stayed. He couldn’t deny that. Arcis had already warned them, and even if the warning hadn’t been completely clear about what was going to happen, Fariu had chosen to remain anyway.
"My elder shouldn’t take long to arrive."
"I very much hope so," Arcis nodded.
Fariu couldn’t help but feel somewhat awkward. He had initially thought Arcis was simply another expert interested in whatever treasure was hidden inside the flames. Instead, he had ended up saving his life.
Even though Arcis had made it clear that he hadn’t done it out of kindness, that didn’t change the fact that Fariu owed him his life now.
—
Back on Rean’s side, four experts came out of the airplane, flying down until they landed near Rean.
Rean smiled at the man at the front. He looked relatively calm, but Rean could immediately tell that this newcomer wasn’t someone he could casually underestimate.
"I believe the sir is Zikan-Tuio, am I right?"
The man in front narrowed his eyes. That was him indeed. However, before he could answer Rean’s question, several more experts arrived, all of them flying, showing that they were at least Zone Gods.
One of them was a blue bird, who landed just in front of Rean.
Naturally, that was Arcis, and the rest of the group was Roan and the others.
Arcis and Zikan looked at each other, and both could tell that the other was manipulating their own Laws just slightly. Celestial and Godly Sense didn’t work here, so this was a very convenient method of showing the other party what kind of strength you possessed.
Of course, at the moment, Zikan could definitely easily defeat Arcis.
It’s just that Zikan-Tuio didn’t know that.
"Are you the one responsible for what happened here?"
Arcis nodded. "That would be me. I believe you are Elder Zikan-Tuio, right?"
"Elder Zikan!"
At that moment, Fariu-Gu arrived, landing by Zikan’s side. He was still visibly weakened despite Roan’s healing, but at least he was no longer in danger of dying. "Senior, thank you for coming."
Zikan glanced at Fariu. "Report."
"Yes!" Fariu immediately put his hand on Zikan’s shoulder and used his Celestial Sense to send a message directly, telling him about everything he had seen so far. Obviously, he also told Zikan how Arcis had saved him earlier.
Zikan listened without interrupting. His expression remained calm as he went through everything Fariu had experienced: the enormous explosion, the mysterious group accompanying Arcis, and the fact that two of Fariu’s companions had died.
Once Fariu finished his report, Zikan nodded slightly and turned his attention back to Arcis.
His Laws also receded, showing his intention not to fight. "Seems like my clan members tried to meddle with your business. I thank you, my friend, for saving this idiot’s life."
Arcis mentally sighed in relief. He, too, stopped manipulating his Laws of Ice. "I’ve heard about your name, friend Zikan-Tuio. That’s why I saved his life, even though he ignored my warning to run earlier. If you don’t mind, we will take our leave now."
Arcis glanced at Roan, who immediately understood what he wanted.
Roan accessed his Spatial Ring.
Right there, an airplane appeared.
It was Rean’s airplane.
Roan had stored it inside his Spatial Ring before coming to meet Rean. By now, they already understood that having an airplane was a symbol of status, and after Arcis had shown that he could manipulate Laws, an airplane was the next step.
For all intents and purposes, the airplane was Arcis’s property, of course.
Zikan looked at the airplane, which looked very different from any other airplane he had seen.
His eyes narrowed slightly.
However, there was another thing Roan had noticed when he saw the airplanes while he checked the city from afar. All the airplanes there were quite a jumble of parts, and there was no such thing as a specific model. They varied greatly from one another, with most looking more like customized collections of parts than properly standardized vessels.
Roan was counting on Zikan to think this was one more of those kinds of airplanes.
Still, Zikan clearly wasn’t going to let them leave without asking a few more questions.
"Wait a moment," Zikan asked.
Arcis stopped and looked back.
"I’ve never seen you before, and even for a Law God, acquiring an airplane is very hard, especially for a new Law God. Who are you, and which force are you part of?"
Arcis shook his head. "You can call me Arcis, and as you pointed out, I’m indeed a new Law God. As for which force I’m part of, the truth is that I’m not part of any force. I just recently moved to the western side, and I’m currently building my own force here."
He paused for a moment before patting the airplane beside him. "As for my airplane... Let’s just say I’m pretty good at acquiring these kinds of things."
That was an excuse Roan had come up with.
They knew that Dlaval was divided into five sections or districts, one for each cardinal direction and the central power, the Rosvelt Sect. All the territories on the west side, where they were currently located, were considered part of the western section.
Fortunately, Arcis’s explanation wasn’t particularly strange.
Zikan pondered for a bit. He was skeptical of Arcis and his group, but new forces emerging with the appearance of new Law Gods wasn’t anything new. Since there were over three thousand Law Gods, it wasn’t hard to imagine new Law Gods appearing here and there without others knowing about them.
After all, there was no way every single Law God could personally know every other Law God in the Woster Prison.
"Is that so?" Zikan continued.
Then, he extended a hand. "I will not ask about what happened here anymore. Instead, since you are new, why not join my Fuhuo Clan instead? We always have open arms for any new ascending experts. There will be no questions asked. Hell, no one asks unnecessary questions. Those are pretty much the rules everywhere anyway."
Arcis remained silent.
Zikan continued. "And considering my clan has quite a little bit of power on the west side, you might benefit a lot more from this arrangement."
Finally, Arcis heard the name of their clan.
He had been avoiding speaking the name and pretending to know Zikan-Tuio for a while now. Fortunately, the other side hadn’t noticed anything strange.
Arcis pondered for a moment before answering. "I’ll need to think about it. Is there any way I can contact you at your clan?"
Zikan nodded. He took out a black token and threw it at Arcis. "Show this at the gate, and they will know you are there for me. I’ll wait for a good answer."
Arcis caught the token and briefly looked it over. "Understood."
Zikan finally told his subordinates and Fariu to enter his airplane. He indeed didn’t ask any more questions, leaving the area right after.
Fariu glanced back at Arcis and the others before entering the airplane as well. He still felt somewhat conflicted about leaving. After all, he had just been saved by Arcis, and he had yet to repay the favor.
But he also knew that staying any longer would only make things more complicated.
Once Zikan’s group departed, the area became quiet again.
Rean watched their airplane disappear into the distance before looking at Arcis. "That went better than expected."
Arcis nodded. "Indeed. I was prepared for him to ask much more."
Roan crossed his arms. "The important thing is that he didn’t discover anything. We should avoid dealing with that clan for the time being."
Arcis glanced down at the black token in his hand. "We now know their name, though. Fuhuo Clan."
"That’s enough for now," Roan replied. "We can investigate them later."
Arcis nodded and put the token away.
"We should do the same and leave this place," Roan said. "Let’s get back."
Everyone agreed.
They had already attracted more attention than they wanted, and remaining in the area any longer would only increase the chances of another powerful expert arriving.
Most importantly, they still had no idea what exactly had happened to the fox.
Her sudden breakthrough had already caused enough trouble.
There was no reason to stay around and invite even more.
