Death… And Me

Chapter 4504: Planted

Chapter 4504: Planted

"Just let her decide what she wants," Kentucky shrugged. "Isn’t that simple?"

*Rawr!*

’Yes! I’m, I’m, I’m... I’m Luxa!’ the fox said excitedly through Godly Sense. She seemed extremely satisfied with the name she had just chosen for herself.

"Luxa?" Rean pondered for a moment, looking at the fox with some surprise. "Where did you get that name from?"

’I just came up with it!’ Luxa replied proudly, puffing out her chest as if she had just accomplished something incredible.

Roan didn’t mind at all. "Definitely a lot better than what the idiot would have come up with."

"No truer words had ever been said," Celis and Kentucky said at the same time while nodding nonstop.

"Hmph! You are all a bunch of boring cultivators who don’t know what is good," Rean complained, crossing his arms. "If I had been allowed to choose, I would have come up with something much more impressive."

Completely ignoring Rean’s complaints, Roan turned to Luxa. "Alright, Luxa, can you tell how much stronger you are now that you have three tails?"

Luxa nodded and put her paw on Roan before answering. ’I could more or less fight low-level Godly Beasts before. Now that I have my third tail, I feel I can fight the very strong Godly Beasts, maybe even some weak Godly Predators. At the very least, I won’t die to a low-level Godly Predator too fast.’

Roan was quite surprised. That was indeed a considerable jump in strength, and it reinforced his belief that Luxa truly had undergone a breakthrough. Her increase in strength also matched what he expected after considering the evolution of her bloodline. It wasn’t merely a slight improvement brought about by absorbing more Godly Energy.

"That’s good enough," Roan nodded. "You have basically entered an entirely different level of strength. Now, since you can talk, can you tell us why you aren’t affected by Godly Pressure?"

Luxa shook her head. ’Sorry, I don’t know. I can feel it. It’s just that it doesn’t bother me at all. Rean and everyone are weird. You get weak with Godly Pressure. Am I wrong instead?’

Roan didn’t think so. "No. There is nothing wrong with having such an advantage. Besides, the experts who live here in Woster have already proven that full immunity to Godly Pressure is possible for any race."

That reminded Roan of something else. He narrowed his eyes as he considered Luxa’s strange origins.

"You broke out of that womb or whatever we found in the Godly Creatures’ territory, in those city ruins. Maybe you were exposed to the environmental Godly Pressure for such a long, long time that you also gained immunity. Who knows just how long you had been there before we found you?"

’Yay! So that’s it! I am not broken!’

Luxa looked incredibly happy with that explanation. Apparently, the possibility that there was something wrong with her had actually been bothering her more than they realized.

Thery pondered for a moment before adding, "I read about how you were found in the reports concerning what happened during the Uncharted Territories exploration. As Roan said, you might have been there for so long that you also acquired Godly Pressure Immunity. But that begs the question. If you had been there for such a long time, how come you were born just when their group was passing by?"

Thery looked directly at Luxa. "With such a ridiculously gigantic time frame, don’t you think it is way too much of a coincidence that you just happened to be born the moment Roan’s group reached you?"

That was indeed a very good question.

Everyone fell silent for a moment. Luxa was born right when the twins’ group arrived, and considering how strange her origins already were, it was difficult to simply call that a coincidence.

However, could there really be an answer?

Luxa had been born there when they appeared, but even though she possessed high intelligence, it wasn’t as if she had known things on her first day of life, how to communicate, or anything like that. She had learned languages and how to communicate during the thirty years she spent with the twins’ group. She truly had been just a baby back then.

’You mean I was born because you were there?’ Luxa thought about it.

"Correct," Thery confirmed. "Do you remember anything? What could have been the trigger?"

Everyone paid close attention to the fox. Luxa, too, fell into deep thought, trying to recall anything from that distant moment. Her memories were extremely vague, almost like scattered fragments buried beneath countless years of instinct and development.

’Let’s see...’

She closed her eyes, trying to concentrate.

She vaguely remembered meeting Rean and then hiding inside the airplane. She remembered the warmth she felt around him and the strange sense of safety that followed.

But anything before that...

’No, wait!’

Suddenly, an even vaguer memory surfaced.

’I remember that I felt something good.’

"Something good?" Rean and the others immediately became curious. "What exactly?"

’I don’t know,’ Luxa explained. ’It was gentle, and yet powerful. Above all, it was so, so similar to myself.’

She paused, trying to put the feeling into words.

’It felt like something I had been waiting for, even though I didn’t know I was waiting for it.’

Then, Luxa looked at Rean.

*Rawr!*

’Ah! It was you!’

Rean was taken aback. "Me?"

*Rawr!*

’Yes! I didn’t think about it before. I remember now because you asked. Your Yang Energy! It is so good, so gentle, so strong! I just felt that I had to get to it! I didn’t think. I just came out!’

Everyone looked at Rean.

The twins’ group could understand perfectly why Luxa would react that way. If it came to Yang Energy and Light Element, then there was indeed no one better than Rean. At most, someone could be at his level, but definitely not above him. Being considered the epitome of Light Element and Yang Energy was no joke.

"Well, as you can see, I am a source of warmth!" Rean immediately declared, puffing out his chest proudly. "She recognized it even before being born. That goes to show how bright I am. Hahaha!" Modesty wasn’t exactly Rean’s forte.

Roan rolled his eyes.

Celis simply shook his head.

Kentucky, however, seemed to find the situation amusing.

"Doesn’t that mean she actually wants to eat Rean whole to make his Yang Energy hers?" Kentucky asked from the side.

"That doesn’t sound too bad. I’m starting to like her more and more now," Roan said with a nod.

Rean’s smile immediately disappeared.

"Ahem..." He looked at Luxa with a slightly more cautious expression. "Luxa, remember one thing. Since I’m strong, that means I’m also very hard to bite. Believe me, I’m not tasty at all."

Luxa stared at him for a few seconds.

Then, her golden and red eyes seemed to brighten with curiosity.

*Rawr!*

’Hmm... can I take just a little bite to check?’

"You may," Roan accepted immediately on Rean’s behalf.

"Your ass!" Rean countered without hesitation.

Kentucky burst out laughing.

Even Thery and the others couldn’t help but smile at the exchange.

Luxa, however, didn’t seem to understand why everyone found it so amusing. She simply looked at Rean with genuine curiosity, apparently still considering whether she should test the taste of his Yang Energy for herself.

The idea was planted, though...
