Chapter 4506: Everyone has a Role
Their adaptation continued, with everyone going out from time to time to fight Godly Creatures and further accustom themselves to the environment. Although the progress was becoming increasingly slower, no one was willing to slack off now that they had finally reached the point where the results would allow them to act more freely inside Woster.
The first one to reach 70% adaptation was Sison, the Thousand-Script Race member. It happened in the 32nd year after their arrival. He was a Late Stage Zone God, and after reaching 70% adaptation, he could finally fight at the level of an Initial Stage Zone God. Being able to display the strength of a Zone God was crucial in a place like this, especially since even ordinary cultivators were far more numerous than they were accustomed to seeing in Besgol.
The other Zone Gods soon followed. Haniala, Kachia, Flugel, and the others each reached the same milestone one after another. None of them had any particularly dramatic breakthroughs, but simply being able to recover part of their original strength made a huge difference in their ability to move around Woster.
Lukay also reached 70% adaptation in the 34th year. With that, all the Zone Gods in their group could now display Zone God-level power, even if only at the lower levels. Compared to how helpless they had felt when they first arrived, this was already a considerable improvement.
The next ones to reach the 70% adaptation mark were the twins’ group. For them, due to their connection, their differences in body constitutions seemed to make very little difference. On the same day Rean reached 70%, so did Roan, Celis, and Kentucky.
They were stronger than Lukay and the others, though. Even though they were only Aura Gods, their various advantages, the Echo, and their unusual constitutions allowed them to display the strength of a Middle Stage Zone God. Their teamwork made them even more troublesome to deal with. Four people acting as one were far more dangerous than four individuals of the same level.
Finally, there were only Arcis and Thery left. They had different constitutions and obviously had no connection with each other. One was a Demon Beast, while the other was a humanoid from the Thousand-Script Race. Their cultivation levels also made a difference. Since both were Middle Stage Law Gods, their higher realms meant they had to adapt to the Godly Pressure more slowly, causing them to fall behind the others.
Thery was the first of the two Law Gods to reach 70%. That happened in the 36th year, leaving only Arcis.
Still, Thery and Arcis had the same cultivation: Middle Stage Law God. The difference between the two wasn’t particularly large either. In the 37th year, Arcis finally reached the same 70% adaptation. With that, both Thery and Arcis could now display the strength of an Initial Stage Law God inside Woster.
Laws truly made that much of a difference.
Thery and Arcis even had a spar against each other to understand their own limits while being weakened by Woster’s Godly Pressure. They didn’t hold back during the fight, allowing both sides to get a clear understanding of what they could and couldn’t do. Thanks to that, they knew exactly where they stood. No doubt, they were the strongest experts in their group.
"Alright, I guess this is it," Arcis said a few days after the spar. "We can now start the second part of our plan: enter Dlaval City."
Thery nodded. "My two companions and I will focus on members of our race. We have seen quite a few cultivators while we were out training under this pressure, and some of them had the rune marks of our Thousand-Script Race. We should be able to find at least a few leads."
"Right, you want to find out why your race’s Great Void is locked to ascend in this part of the Celestial Realm," Rean commented.
"Yes," Thery confirmed. "We will gather information and learn more about the city and them. Even if we don’t immediately discover the reason behind the problem, knowing more about the situation should help us narrow down the possibilities."
Roan looked at Arcis. "What about you? Are you here just to support them?"
"That’s the plan," Arcis confirmed. "As you heard, Natak Region reached an agreement with our Besgol Region. Ultimately, helping them find the reason for their locked ascension is also my goal. But that doesn’t mean we can’t do anything else while we’re there. In any case, I’ll stick to Thery and his companions for now. Having two Law Gods together would give us some leverage if necessary."
Arcis looked at Flugel right after. "As for you, you know what to do."
Flugel nodded. "I’m ready. Rean, I would like you to stay with me as we do our own investigation. As I told you before, we wanted to investigate the arrays of the Prison. It’ll be better if we do it our own way."
Rean didn’t mind. "That’s obviously not a problem. If we split up properly, we can investigate more places at the same time anyway."
Lukay jumped in. "Rean, I’ll stick with you for now then. I don’t really have any objective in mind anyway. Flugel, you have no issues with that, I presume?"
Flugel shrugged. "You know nothing about arrays, but a bodyguard won’t be that bad."
"Don’t worry." Lukay’s core sparkled slightly. "If you are in danger, I’ll make sure to strike you down so you won’t survive."
"Fuck you!"
Not many knew about it, but Flugel and Lukay had known each other for a long time, so Flugel did indeed feel more assured when Lukay tagged along. He would never admit that, though. Having someone who could protect him if something went wrong was certainly better than exploring the city alone, especially considering how many hidden experts could be lurking around.
Roan pondered for a bit before reaching a decision. "You guys do as you wish. I will be acting alone from here on."
"Alone?" Arcis narrowed his eyes. "What if you need support? Also, what exactly are you looking for?"
Roan shook his head. "You were the ones who asked my group to help you reach Woster. There was nothing in our agreement saying I couldn’t go look for my own fortunes while I was here. Don’t worry. We still have our own Ring Communicators. You can contact me anytime if you need help. I’ll do the same."
Arcis sighed. "Well, that’s true. Just try not to cause trouble. You heard it; there are thousands of Law Gods here. This isn’t a place where we can afford to casually provoke powerful enemies."
"Will our RCs work if we are too far from each other, though?" Kentucky couldn’t help but ask. The twins’ group had their soul connection, but the rest of them didn’t.
"Oh, I already have a plan in mind for that," Rean said with a smile. "Just leave it to me. Our RCs will definitely have more than enough range to work over the entire Woster Prison."
"Good!" Thery was satisfied. "Celis, I would like you to stay close to my group, if that isn’t a problem."
Celis could tell why. Thery already knew that Celis was the best in their group when it came to energy reading and sensitivity. His innate abilities might indeed come in handy for the Thousand-Script Race, especially if they encountered something related to the strange restrictions surrounding their Great Void.
"That’s fine. Going with you won’t change my own objective."
"That leaves Kentucky and Kachia." Arcis turned to the two Demon Birds. "What are you going to do?"
Kentucky turned to Roan, who nodded back at him. "I’ll investigate the city from above. There is something that Rean, Roan, Celis, and I are interested in. Maybe I can find some clues from the skies."
"Well, I can’t leave this Demon Bird alone, and since Father will stick with Thery, I guess there is only me to prevent Kentucky from doing anything idiotic," Kachia said.
"That’s also good," Roan nodded slightly.
"Hey! Don’t you have any faith in me?" Kentucky complained.
Roan glanced at him, his expression as bleak as ever. "What do you think?"
"You know what? Go fuck yourself!" Kentucky cursed.
Yet... deep down, he was quite pleased that he would be tagging along with Kachia for the time being.
