Death… And Me

Chapter 4614: Out of Mind

Chapter 4614: Out of Mind

Roan listened to everything Clasou had to say and couldn’t help but complain. "Are you all a bunch of idiots? Why would you even need my help with something like that? If the biggest problem is the lack of space, just capture more Godly Horrors."

Clasou’s mouth twitched. "If it were that easy, I obviously wouldn’t have come here to ask for your opinion. It’s one thing to try to kill a Godly Horror. After all, there is no need to hold back when you’re trying to kill one. Capturing one alive, on the other hand, is an entirely different matter. You should know that. Also, no amount of Godly Horrors would be enough for everyone, and I’m not even talking about the resources necessary to keep that many imprisoned."

Roan nodded. "Obviously. Still, you have the perfect item to lure the Godly Horrors, don’t you?"

"The perfect item?" Clasou looked puzzled for a moment. Then, his eyes opened wide. "Wait, you can’t be talking about the Godly Crystal used at the farm."

"The one and the same," Roan confirmed. "Godly Creatures keep coming to the farm because of that powerful Godly Crystal. Yet every time a Godly Horror approaches, you teleport the crystal away and wait for the Godly Horror to leave before resuming the farm. This time, don’t teleport it away. Let the Godly Horror get close, then capture it. Prepare the arrays, the experts, and everything else beforehand."

"But the crystal is too important!" Clasou immediately countered. "If anything goes wrong and we end up losing it... That crystal’s importance is far beyond the importance of the Godly Pressure Adaptation Project. Besides, you know how the array protecting that crystal works. The crystal can’t be moved anywhere other than its two designated locations: the place where it is teleported to and the farm itself. That means we can’t control the direction from which the Godly Horror will approach."

Roan snorted. "The Godly Horror is being lured by the crystal, sure. However, it will definitely prioritize its own safety. We’ve already seen that happen before. When a Godly Horror gets close, have the Law Gods lure it into the trap. Then capture it. After that, repeat the process."

Clasou still didn’t look convinced. "All right, let’s say the plan works. So what? We might be able to capture another two or three Godly Horrors, but that’s it. Take a look at this."

Clasou then transmitted some information through his Ring Communicator for Roan to inspect. As Roan went through it, Clasou continued explaining, "The Sealing Array that keeps the Godly Horrors imprisoned while ensuring they remain unharmed and alive consumes a tremendous amount of Godly Crystals. If we capture more than five or six of them and use the same method, we simply won’t be able to keep up with the cost."

Roan shrugged. "That’s because you want to use the Godly Subjugation Guild’s resources. You have to understand something. It doesn’t matter how many Godly Horrors you capture; there will never be enough of them for all the cultivators in Besgol. There are billions of cultivators, after all."

"Since that’s the case, you should pull the resources from somewhere else. And who else would it be if not the individuals who want to use the Godly Pressure Adaptation Project? The rule should be simple: If you want to take part, you have to pay for it."

Clasou fell silent, clearly considering the idea.

Roan continued, "You’re also thinking that it will take decades for every cultivator participating in this project to adapt, right?"

Clasou looked at Roan and nodded.

"However, decades were the case for us because we went to Woster," Roan continued. "Back in Woster, we wanted to acquire at least seventy percent immunity before we started exploring the place. After all, the cultivators living there were all one hundred percent immune. Also, as you know, the higher the immunity you intend to acquire, the longer the process takes. It is a cumulative problem."

"However, you don’t really need everyone to reach seventy percent immunity like we did. For us to reach fifty percent, it only took a few years. Yet fifty percent immunity across Besgol as a whole would already be a huge game changer. So there’s no need to keep cultivators there for decades. Let them reach fifty percent and then send in the next batch. Each batch will probably take no more than three to five years, depending on the cultivators’ ages and cultivation levels when they begin."

"If someone truly wishes to acquire seventy percent or more immunity, just charge them extra. Not only will you have more than enough Godly Crystals to maintain the Sealing Arrays around the Godly Horrors, but you will probably have a surplus as well."

"Of course, don’t be an idiot. It is imperative that Besgol also focus on its true talents. So, for this project, keep around ten percent of the slots open exclusively for those with high prospects for the future. The other seventy percent of the slots can be made available through a simple open sale."

"Wait, ten percent plus seventy percent is only eighty percent. What about the remaining twenty percent?" Clasou asked.

Roan sighed and massaged the space between his eyebrows. "Weren’t you afraid of the common cultivators of Besgol complaining about privileges? There will obviously be many cultivators who simply can’t afford to pay for the opportunity, even if it’s only for a few years. In fact, the vast majority probably can’t. That’s what the remaining twenty percent of the slots are for."

"Distribute them fairly, regardless of talent, age, cultivation, position, or anything else. Just use some kind of lottery system or whatever you think is appropriate, and make sure everyone can see that it’s fair."

"Show everyone the accounting books. Make it clear that without the payments from the other cultivators, the Guild won’t be able to afford keeping the Godly Horrors sealed. Those arrays are expensive, and few people will complain once they understand just how much it costs to maintain them. Having twenty percent of the slots completely free should quiet most of the complaints."

Roan paused for a moment before adding, "Of course, it’s impossible to make everyone happy. Nothing like that exists in this world."

Clasou thought about all the processes involved, slowly nodding. "If this works... we could have several dozen Godly Horrors. The Godly Subjugation Guild would never be able to pay for all of them on its own, but if the Horrors are maintained through payments from the users... Yes, it could work."

He rubbed his chin as he continued, already thinking about the details. "There are a lot of things to figure out, and it will take quite some time to lure and capture that many Godly Horrors safely. We also need to think about what to do if something goes wrong, but... yeah, I can see it happening."

Roan waved his hand. He only had a few days remaining before his month-long break was over. "If that’s all, then shoo, shoo. I don’t have the patience to entertain you anymore. You can figure out the rest yourself."

Clasou nodded. "Yes, I’ll take my leave. Once again, thanks for the help."

Finally, Clasou left, allowing Roan to return to the Great Void.

In the following days, the Godly Subjugation Guild announced a much more comprehensive version of the project. The percentages were slightly different from what Roan had proposed, which made sense since Roan had only given them a general framework. Many other details, including prices, cultivation time limits, eligibility requirements, safety measures, and other conditions, were also released.

Nonetheless, Besgol eventually created what would later become known as the Guide Rules of Adaptation. These rules would go on to be adopted by many, many other Regions in the future, although each Region made slight adjustments according to its own circumstances.

Besgol had truly placed itself at the forefront of this new project.

...Well, Roan didn’t give a damn about any of that.

By the time he returned to the Great Void, the entire topic had already disappeared from his mind.
