Chapter 4621: The Transformation

Rean’s airplane made its way back to Besgol, and once they arrived, Tobao separated from the twins’ group. Without a doubt, he headed straight to Arcis’s residence, eager to discuss the offer the twins had made.

After all, deciding whether to leave Besgol and embark on such a dangerous journey wasn’t something he could do on his own. He needed to hear what his longtime friend thought about the opportunity before making any commitments.

Meanwhile, the twins, Lunelle, and Luxa returned to their residence at the Godly Subjugation Guild in Jufafner Country. Since they were about to take another two-week break to consolidate their cultivation, Rean and Roan decided to use the opportunity to experiment with something else.

"Alright, Luxa, let’s give it a try," Rean said, focusing his attention on the Eternal Day Fox.

Luxa concentrated as well, and her body gradually transformed into an energy form. She then drifted toward Rean and entered his body, causing energy to emanate from him.

Before long, that energy took shape, forming a pair of fox ears on his head, three tails behind his back, and claws on both his hands and feet. The transformation was almost identical to the one they had experienced during their battle with Doluno, although this time, they had no enemy to worry about.

"Wow..." Rean couldn’t help feeling impressed as he examined the changes. "It really does feel amazing. I can feel the Fire Element directly again instead of having to rely on Yang Energy to control it."

Roan was undergoing the same transformation with Lunelle. A pair of navy-blue wings formed on his back alongside three long energy tail feathers, while sharp energy talons appeared on his feet. Unlike Lunelle, however, Roan had never possessed wings before, so he immediately decided to test them. He began flying around the yard using the wings alone, although his movements were somewhat clumsy at first.

"Just like the first time, I can feel the Water Element directly," Roan commented as he struggled to adjust his balance. "I’ll need some time to get used to these wings."

He then circulated his Godly Energy throughout his body, including through the newly formed energy structures, and suddenly shot back and forth across the yard. It didn’t take long for him to confirm that the wings provided a considerable advantage. He could fly much faster by using them than by relying solely on Godly Energy, although his control still needed some work.

*Zush!*

Without warning, Roan appeared behind Rean and threw a punch at his back.

Rean reacted almost instinctively. The claws on his feet provided considerably better traction, allowing him to pivot and counterattack immediately. However, neither of them had fully adjusted to their new bodies.

*Flar, fru!*

Both attacks missed their intended targets.

*Bang! Bang!*

Rean had aimed for Roan’s face but ended up striking his chest instead. Roan, meanwhile, had intended to hit Rean’s shoulder, only to land his punch squarely on Rean’s belly. The two attacks collided with tremendous force, sending both twins flying in opposite directions as bursts of Godly Energy and various elemental energies erupted around them. Several pieces of furniture were knocked over, while the walls they crashed into were completely destroyed.

*Flap!*

Roan quickly spread his wings and took to the air again, hovering above the wreckage. He examined his fist for a moment before looking toward the hole in the wall where Rean had landed. "We were pretty lucky the first time we fused with Luxa and Lunelle."

*Bang!*

Rean released a quick burst of energy to clear away the debris around him before walking out of the wreckage. "Indeed. Even though you changed your position at the last moment, I still managed to react. Unfortunately, my control was so terrible that I completely missed my target."

He wasn’t surprised that Roan had attacked him without warning. During their training sessions, Roan frequently used sneak attacks to test everyone’s reactions. Celis and Kentucky experienced the same whenever Roan had the opportunity. As a result, the twins’ group was notoriously difficult to catch off guard, even when their members were distracted by something else.

"How’s your energy?" Roan asked as he checked his own reserves.

When they had merged with Luxa and Lunelle during their battle against Doluno, they had noticed that their transformed bodies possessed a separate pool of Godly Energy. It seemed to belong to both the twins and the two creatures at the same time, creating something akin to a shared reserve. However, that reserve was considerably smaller than the Godly Energy pools the twins possessed in their normal bodies.

One had to remember that cultivators in the Celestial Plane no longer possessed cores or datians. Instead, their Godly Energy was stored in every cell of their bodies. Luxa and Lunelle’s cultivation remained something of a mystery, particularly because their eyes seemed to serve a function similar to that of cores.

"Perhaps their eyes are the reason we have a separate energy pool," Rean speculated. "However, that pool also contains some of our own Godly Energy, which might explain why we can control it so naturally."

He paused to check his remaining energy before continuing. "Unfortunately, it gets used up incredibly quickly. We barely put any effort into that exchange just now, yet I’ve already lost around 30% of the entire reserve."

Roan nodded thoughtfully. "As you said, the reason we can control everything as though it were our own body is probably that our Godly Energy is mixed into the pool. That makes the merged energy compatible with our cultivation, allowing us to use it without any trouble. When we fought Doluno, we consumed the entire reserve in a single strike, but our strength in that instant far surpassed what we could normally achieve."

He paused briefly, considering the implications. "It’s an excellent way to unleash a powerful attack, but it has a serious drawback. Luxa and Lunelle became incredibly weak as soon as the transformation ended. They couldn’t even remain conscious."

Rean remembered that clearly. "Indeed. In fact, the energy we actually use to fight comes almost entirely from Luxa and Lunelle. That’s why they’re left so exhausted afterward. We lose access to our own pools when we are like that... No, better to say that we could use our own pools, but we wouldn’t be able to use the merged forms’ powers."

He frowned slightly as he considered another problem. "What I don’t understand is why this separate energy pool gets depleted so quickly. Luxa and Lunelle definitely possess much larger reserves than what we can use during this transformation."

[That one I can answer.]

Sister Orb suddenly interrupted their discussion, drawing both twins’ attention.

[The reason your energy pool is so small is that Luxa and Lunelle’s energy is being used almost entirely for one purpose: increasing your strength. The fox form and raven form you obtain after merging are the main reason you become so powerful for a short period. Creating and maintaining those transformed bodies consumes most of their energy.]

[Only a small amount remains in the separate energy pool for you to actually use while fighting. Think of it as the energy required to operate those transformed bodies after most of their power has already been invested in enhancing your overall capabilities.]

Roan narrowed his eyes as he considered her explanation. "There’s something else I noticed."

Sister Orb immediately understood what he meant.

[Yes, you’re right. The two energy pools are shared between you because of your connection. Their energy becomes compatible with both of you, meaning that, in practice, you have only one shared pool rather than two separate ones. If either of you consumes all that energy, both of you will lose the transformation.]

"Does that mean Luxa and Lunelle are somehow connected to the system now?" Rean asked.

[No,] Sister Orb answered firmly. [When this transformation occurs, you become the sole owners of all their energy. That’s why you can share it with each other through your soul connection. Luxa and Lunelle haven’t been added to the system the way Kentucky and Celis were. As I’ve already explained, they have their own connection.]

*Plop!*

Before the twins could ask anything else, the fox and raven forms suddenly disappeared. Luxa and Lunelle popped out of Rean and Roan’s bodies, both looking utterly exhausted after their brief experiment.

’So sleepy... so hungry...’

Although the twins had used only around 30% of the shared energy pool during their exchange, the transformation had ended just a few seconds later. Simply maintaining the merged forms was already consuming an enormous amount of the limited energy available.

Rean immediately picked Luxa up and cradled her in his arms, gently stroking her head. "Then get some sleep. We can talk about everything else after you two wake up and have your fill."
