Chapter 4204: Far Too Late! III
Nine massive statues arose all around the Peacemaker and Seraphina!
They were magnificent, terrible things, their muscular forms etched with an eternity of sorrowful judgment, their faces a perfect blend of profound disappointment and deep, paternal sorrow.
Their terrifying white eyes, devoid of pupils, radiated a light of pure, unyielding law.
All nine turned their gaze upon Alexander and Seraphina, a silent, collective judgment that seemed to weigh their very souls.
Then, one of the massive statues began to speak, its voice the sound of mountains grinding, of eons passing.
"You two were supposed to be here many, many years ago. If you had taken the inheritance of THE Living Law at that time, you may have had a chance before being laid to waste in the Fallout of what is coming. But now... you are far, far too late."
HUUM!
The words were heavy, each one a death knell. Alexander’s face, once so calm, became a mask of stern resolve. "What do you mean?"
All nine statues of law and judgment looked at him, and another spoke, its voice a chorus of echoing pronouncements.
"All existences that were not granted entry into THE Loom countless eons ago are those destined to fall in the coming collapse and Fallout. THE Living Law left behind an inheritance for those who would nurture parts of its shattered will. You two hold the two major components of that will. Had you been here when you were meant to be, you may have had the chance to cultivate your Law to the extent of gaining the chance to pursue an opportunity for survival. But now, even that chance is gone. Now, there is nothing."
...!
Now there was nothing!
The words were so despotic and numb that one could go mad hearing them!
The statue paused, and the silence it left was more terrifying than any sound.
"You would need, at the very least, a few million years. But based on what we have sensed is occurring out in the Folds... not even a million years will pass before the Fallout. It might be a hundred thousand years, or one thousand years, or even one year... the numbers don’t truly matter. Whether it happens tomorrow or a million years from now, you two, and all others present across the Folds at this moment, are doomed."
...!
The words were a final, absolute judgment. Seraphina’s face paled, the blood draining from it, her eyes wide with the sheer, existential horror of it all. The collapse of everything. Certain doom!
But the visage of Alexander Asmodeus, the glorious visage of the Peacemaker, shone with an unruly, defiant light.
He looked up at the nine colossal statues, and his voice was a commanding roar that defied their pronouncements of doom.
"I will be the one to make the decision on whether it is too late or not! For now, we came to claim the Tool and the inheritance of THE Living Law. So forget about certain doom and bring it out, so that we may work towards a solution and not wallow in decimation!"
HUUM!
The nine marbled statues looked at him, their cold, sorrowful eyes seeming to gauge the depth of his defiance. Then, as one, they turned back into still, silent stone. The surroundings began to tremble, and their nine synonymous voices echoed out, a final, resigned pronouncement.
"...So be it."
So be it.
Words of cold resignation, but also the words of a possible beginning.
But they were ones sorely needed!
—
At the same time, in a completely different direction in these very same Transcendent Emotive Folds, space fluctuated.
In a region of murky, obsidian uncertainty, where the air itself was thick with the feeling of doubt and indecision, the figure of Malphas appeared.
His eyes pulsed with a terrifying crimson light. He raised a hand, his movements graceful and deliberate, and his voice rang out, a grand, theatrical proclamation.
"From the many Everythings of Fear and Hatred that I received from my previous Master, I release a portion of them to permeate across these Transcendent Emotive Folds. All the fear and all the hatred of the Living Existences and The Dead Existences within these Folds... shall be transformed to complexity and purity for me and my current Master!"
HUUM!
A terrifying phenomenon occurred. From his hands, two singularities of unfathomable emotion, the very Everythings of THE Living Emotive, surged forth.
They erupted in a silent, terrifying blast of light, one of pure, abject fear, the other of incandescent, all-consuming hatred!
They began to spread, not like a wave, but like a virus, a conceptual plague that infected the very fabric of the Emotive Folds. It was a power too unfathomable for others to even understand.
Prompts, rendered in a verdant, golden light, bloomed before him.
A tremendous effort is being made, an action of unfathomable weight is being carried out. The resultant effects of this action are further amplified by the Seed of the Principle of Perpetual Harvest.
The emotions of Hatred and Fear are particularly abundant in this day and age across the Folds, especially so in the Transcendent Emotive Folds that are ruled by emotion.
An initial, preliminary harvesting of all Hatred and Fear has generated One Hundred Trillion in Complexity and Purity that shall be distributed to you and your Master.
Hatred and Fear are constant. As they are harvested across the entirety of these Folds, they will be passively collected and distributed once they reach a certain threshold.
WAA!
An initial harvest. One Hundred Trillion. Ten times the marker of a Duke, and it was just the beginning.
Yet, even as he looked at these heavy, impossible numbers, Malphas frowned. A flicker of disappointment, of impatience, crossed his handsome features.
"Merely 100 Trillion..." he muttered, his voice a low, cruel whisper that was swallowed by the spreading tide of fear and hatred.
As he spoke, another prompt, this one shimmering with a unique, quintessential light, bloomed before his eyes.
You are well on your way to becoming a Quintessential Servant.
...!
Yes, he was on his way.
But for Malphas, this was nothing. For his Master, he was just getting started!
