Chapter 4617: No longer capital!
THE Arbitrium leaned forward with building interest.
Your buddy and longtime friend, I can absolutely understand why you would make that sacrifice for him. But the anomaly that he came with? You don’t really know this entity at all. You have no deep attachments or shared history. Would you truly choose to go even further, to break your entire Civilization down past THE Surface Depth and into complete Pre-THE existence, for someone you barely know?
The words hung in the air with crushing weight.
They were followed by an immense silence that seemed to stretch across eternity.
A sense of profound power mixed with deep melancholy wrapped around THE Fisherman as he sat there processing everything.
At this moment, he calmly took his fishing rod and cast out another line into the murky waters.
His movements were practiced and serene despite the trembling in his hands.
His gaze held utmost serenity and terrible power as he spoke with voice carrying absolute conviction.
Your type continues to play with Existence as if everything lies perfectly under your fingertips. Always so arrogant and prideful, as if you could do absolutely anything with zero repercussions or consequences. One of these days, entities like you and The Others will find yourselves in the exact same positions that you keep putting the rest of us in. One of these days, you will have your due. Existence always balances itself eventually.
THE Arbitrium smiled with genuine amusement at these words.
His carefree nature radiated outward as he nodded with easy agreement.
You are absolutely right. Existence is vast and unfathomable beyond anyone’s complete comprehension. Who knows what will happen seconds or years from now? I may just find myself in the exact same terrible position as you currently occupy. But right now, at this specific moment, I am on the other side of this equation. So I will enjoy it thoroughly while it lasts.
After these words, a heavy and profound silence descended.
It carried a sense of inevitable loss and mourning.
THE Fisherman spoke calmly despite the tremor in his voice.
I will make the choice of collapsing my Civilization all the way down before even THE Surface Depth classification. If you can help me execute this, that would be appreciated. Because inherently, my Sovereignty will resist its own collapse with everything it has. I do not think I have it within my heart to carry it out completely by myself.
The moment he said these words with finality, THE Arbitrium smiled with expression suggesting this entire situation brought him unfathomable joy.
His eyes flashed with a sense of immensity and terrifying power, as if the wonder and satisfaction within had grown even stronger.
He spoke with voice carrying genuine curiosity.
What a fine choice of sacrifice that is. I can understand making it for your longtime friend Ul’moreth. But why the anomaly? Why make the choice to collapse everything even further for an entity you barely know? What drives such selflessness?
At such a direct question, THE Fisherman did not answer immediately.
He continued holding his fishing rod with both hands, his posture unchanged.
His arms trembled slightly, visibly shaking as if his entire Sovereignty was mourning what was about to occur.
His voice emerged with quiet dignity.
Someone like you and how you view Existence would never be able to truly understand my reasoning. Let’s not waste any more time with pointless questions. The delay of the action is only torturing me further. Do what you must.
At such words, an extremely sad and grand scene unfolded.
THE Fisherman raised his hand and plunged it directly into his own chest.
His fingers wrapped around his heart, the core of his Civilization and Sovereignty.
And he decisively crushed it.
A massive storm of Civilizational Authority sought to erupt outward in violent rejection of this self-destruction.
But THE Arbitrium simply waved his hand with casual authority and caused the explosion to disappear entirely, contained before it could manifest.
He then adopted a calm expression as if wanting to help out a dear friend in need.
A past friend.
Ah, let me assist you with the more difficult part of erasing even THE Surface Depth classification. This requires precision.
With such words spoken gently, he tapped out with one finger toward THE Fisherman’s form.
Ains trembled violently as crimson-gold blood instantly spurted from his eyes, nose, and mouth.
Every single ounce of his Civilization was systematically dissipated and erased.
Existence itself wailed around him in mourning, reality crying out at the loss of such profound authority.
The mysterious entity let out a calm and satisfied sigh as he observed the completion of this sacrifice.
Ah, what a choice. What a magnificent choice indeed!
As he said this with genuine appreciation, something else occurred behind them.
From the inner depths of The Primordial Genesis Shore, Lumivara was being led by a Ginnu Lifeform.
They flew outward together, their figures passing by and seeing only the backs of THE Fisherman and the mysterious entity sitting side by side.
THE Arbitrium turned toward them with perfect timing and smiled warmly.
He waved his hand as if to say a friendly hello.
Both the Ginnu Lifeform and Lumivara immediately bowed deeply toward him with instinctive respect.
The Ginnu Lifeform also looked toward Ains and nodded with visible respect and acknowledgment.
In their eyes, they saw no blood or desolation at all. Just two entities sitting peacefully side by side as if enjoying casual conversation.
The Ginnu Lifeform gently pulled Lumivara away as they disappeared into an obsidian river passageway leading out of Ginnungagap.
THE Arbitrium watched this departure as if it was of absolutely no consequence to him whatsoever.
He stood up and carefully wiped imaginary dust from his black and white robes.
Ah, alright then. Thank you genuinely for the choice, THE Fisherman... oh, nope, my mistake. Just "the fisherman" now. No capital letters for you anymore. Ah, very sad indeed, my friend.
He paused before continuing with voice carrying binding authority.
But do not worry unnecessarily. I keep my end of every bargain I make. I will not personally move to harm a single hair on Ul’moreth or the Anomaly he brought here. For now, you simply continue fishing here as per normal and don’t ruin my fun by doing anything dramatic.
