Chapter 3350: Tao Yinsu

Chapter 3350: Tao Yinsu

In Lin Mu’s mind, Xukong laughed so hard the spatial fabric around him shook.

"Of course his words are not true, Lin Mu. Not at all. Do not get fooled by a baby with a loud voice." Xukong spoke, this time his voice projecting outside of Lin Mu’s mind.

He would never do this, but the situation was far too hilarious to not do. And it was not like anyone was going to believe this baby.

What would they think? Some random being was speaking out of the void?

It would just seem like the other nonsense he spoke all the time.

Lin Mu exhaled slowly. "Really?"

"Completely false," Xukong replied. "The Thousand Star Aegis has never had a Celestial Monarch. The strongest cultivator they produced was a Celestial Lord and that person was certainly not named Tao Yinsu."

Lin Mu pinched the bridge of his nose.

Xukong continued in a dry tone.

"Also, the Heaven Crushing Immortal is alive and lives in the Celestial Realm. He is an actual figure of great power, and he is known for being incredibly soft spoken. Nothing like this little gremlin."

Tao Yinsu blew a bubble of saliva in protest.

"And the Sacred Wine Cauldron Brew was created by the Great Wine Monarch. That was a famous celestial who died ages ago. Again, most certainly not this loud creature."

Lin Mu stared at the baby.

Tao Yinsu puffed up again and shouted.

"I could have invented wine if I wanted to. Shut up, you sack of dusty old knowledge." The baby said not even caring who was speaking.

Lin Mu stared harder.

The baby tried to turn over and failed, then flailed his hands like a disgruntled duckling.

Xukong delivered the final blow.

"As for the rest of those supposed titles, Lin Mu, anyone can claim those. There is no proof. He is simply making noise."

Lin Mu groaned.

The baby instantly noticed.

"Oi. Do not sigh like a dying fish. Have some respect for the reincarnated great me. My ears are small but my pride is enormous."

Lin Mu gave him a deadpan stare.

In response the infant suddenly froze. His little chest swelled with panic.

Then, in a surprisingly skilled performance, he began babbling incoherently with exaggerated innocence. His eyes watered. His lips quivered. His arms wiggled helplessly like a startled rabbit.

"Gah... buh... pwee..."

He blinked up at Lin Mu with wide watery eyes, as if he had never spoken a single word in his life. As if everything that had just happened was merely a cosmic misunderstanding.

Lin Mu stared at him expressionlessly.

"Stop."

The baby froze mid babble.

Lin Mu folded his arms.

"Pretending is not going to help you. If you continue with this act, I will leave you here."

The baby’s eyes widened with pure betrayal.

"You would not dare, you cucumber hearted monk reject."

Lin Mu raised a brow and leaned slightly closer.

"Try me."

The baby hesitated deeply. His tiny brows scrunched together so cutely that Lin Mu almost felt secondhand embarrassment.

Finally the infant deflated with a tiny sigh.

"Fine."

Lin Mu nodded. "Good. Let us try again. Your real identity."

Tao Yinsu squirmed, trying to lift his head, failing again, then grumbling.

"My name really is Tao Yinsu."

"Your cultivation level before dying?"

"I was an immortal. A proper immortal, not one of those pretentious street side fortune tellers with a fake beard."

"Realm?"

"Somewhere in the Celestial Realm."

Lin Mu frowned. "Which part? Which star region? Which lineage? Which sect? Which city? Give me something."

The baby blinked.

Then blinked again.

"...I do not remember."

Lin Mu’s expression did not change.

Tao Yinsu panicked and rushed to justify himself.

"I get flashes, alright. Fragments. Sometimes I remember punching a mountain. Sometimes I remember shouting at an immortal beast because it tried to eat my fish. Sometimes I remember a woman hitting me with a frying pan. It is all jumbled. Do not ask me for coordinates. I cannot even point my finger straight right now."

Lin Mu inhaled and slowly exhaled.

Xukong’s voice was calm.

"This is expected. Known confirmed Reincarnators are rare. Reincarnators with fragments of memory are even rarer. Reincarnators who retain personality and clarity like this child are rarer still. His mind is not stable yet."

Lin Mu nodded silently. He could agree.

He spoke again.

"What about your cultivation technique? Do you remember the method or name? Anything about how you circulate Qi?"

Tao Yinsu stilled.

Then he shut his eyes and concentrated.

A faint warm pulse of spirit Qi traveled through his tiny body. Smooth. Refined. Elegant. Too elegant for a baby.

Lin Mu sensed it, analyzing carefully.

There was something very odd about it. Something ancient. Something subtle. Something refined enough to suggest a long heritage.

But the infant opened his eyes and shrugged like someone making excuses for forgetting their laundry.

"I do not know. I only know that it felt natural. Like breathing. Not learned. Not taught. Just... there."

Lin Mu narrowed his eyes.

The baby immediately panicked.

"Look, do not glare at me like I owe you money! I already told you everything I remember. If I remembered my technique I would tell you. I do not enjoy being a helpless potato with no control over my limbs. I want out. I want clothes. I want warm food. I want something that is not a cold stone. I want respect. Also, I want revenge on whoever put me in this tiny body."

Lin Mu rubbed his head again.

Tao Yinsu continued rambling.

"And do not give me that monk stare. You look like you want to shave my head and make me meditate. I will scream. I will scream until everyone in a ten kilometer radius goes deaf. I will curse the heavens. I will insult your ancestors. I will call you a rotten turnip dipped in rancid spiritual vinegar."

Lin Mu lifted the baby gently with one hand.

Tao Yinsu yelped. "Oi. Oi. Careful. Fragile baby spine here."

Lin Mu looked him in the eye.

"I am taking you out of this chamber. But you will behave."

The baby placed one tiny hand on his chest dramatically.

"I promise on the many gratuitous insults I can muster that I will behave like a perfect gentleman."

Lin Mu raised a brow.

The baby added solemnly.

"Starting tomorrow."

Lin Mu sighed.

It was going to be a very long week.
