Chapter 3808: Learn From Anyone

Chapter 3808: Learn From Anyone

The food finally arrived and everything changed.

The moment Little Bull began eating, the hall grew unusually attentive as everyone watched him. At first it was subtle, then it became completely obvious.

Over a hundred people were staring. Little Bull noticed. "Why are you looking at me?"

No one answered, instead they continued watching.

Little Bull shrugged, then picked up a large beast leg and took a huge bite. The hall remained silent as he took another bite, then another and a third.

A minute later a bowl of rice disappeared, then another and three more. Seeing this a few disciples slowly began smiling while several elders exchanged looks.

High Elder Palm Saber nodded while a muscular woman clenched her fist. "Good."

Another disciple stood up dramatically. "Brother!"

Someone else slapped the table. "He’s truly one of us!"

The room exploded. "We don’t even need to train him!"

"Look at him eat!"

"He understands!"

"HE EATS WELL!" a muscular woman shouted while stuffing an entire bird leg into her mouth.

Several people applauded while the others cheered.

Little Bull nearly dropped his bowl. "What did I do?"

An elder pointed. "You eat."

Little Bull looked confused. "So?"

The elder looked emotional. "So?"

He pointed dramatically around the room. "Half the recruits before you ran away because they couldn’t do that!"

Little Bull blinked and Lin Mu understood immediately. The disciples here clearly had terrifying dietary requirements. Body cultivation demanded immense amounts of nutrition and most people probably struggled to keep up.

Little Bull, however, possessed Lin Mu’s appetite. Even now he was actually restraining himself. If he ate seriously, these people might become frightened.

Little Bull scratched his head. "Eating is scary?"

The hall burst into laughter again while one disciple wiped tears from his eyes. "He really doesn’t understand."

"He’s perfect."

"Peak Wild Peak disciple."

After the atmosphere settled, more introductions followed. Little Bull finally got the chance to learn who everyone actually was.

High Elder Shatter Peak sat beside him and across from them sat another giant. The man was every bit as large as Shatter Peak and his shoulders looked broad enough to block a city gate.

His hands resembled iron hammers.

The elder pointed. "Palm Saber."

The giant nodded. "High Elder Palm Saber."

Little Bull looked confused. "Why Palm Saber?"

The giant held up his hand, then casually chopped downward.

SHIK

The air split apart and a pressure wave shot through the hall while several tables shook.

Little Bull stared. "Oh."

The giant nodded. "Exactly."

The introductions continued as Lin Mu learned of several normal elders, several junior elders and dozens of senior disciples. Unlike other sects, there appeared to be remarkably little distinction between them.

Everyone spoke casually, everyone joked and everyone interrupted one another. At one point Lin Mu watched a disciple throw an arm around an elder’s neck while laughing loudly. The elder responded by stealing food from the disciple’s plate.

Neither seemed bothered.

Little Bull finally asked the question that had been lingering in his mind. "Who’s my master?"

The hall quieted slightly as several people looked toward High Elder Shatter Peak.

"Who teaches me?" Little Bull continued. "I thought it was High Elder Shatter Peak."

The giant paused, then he looked genuinely confused. "Why would it be me?"

Little Bull blinked. "You recruited me."

The giant scratched his beard. "That doesn’t mean I’m your master."

Lin Mu internally raised an eyebrow as he found it quite intriguing.

High Elder Palm Saber spoke up. "Wild Peak works differently."

Little Bull listened carefully as the giant elder continued. "Most places choose one master. They teach you everything, they decide everything and they basically own your future."

High Elder Palm Saber snorted. "We don’t like that."

Several disciples nodded while one elder spat into a cup. "It’s stupid."

Another added. "One person doesn’t know everything."

The discussion rapidly gained momentum as soon everyone was talking.

High Elder Shatter Peak finally slammed a hand onto the table. "Listen."

The room quieted and the big man pointed around the hall. "You want fists?"

He pointed toward a giant elder. "Learn from him."

Another direction. "You want movement techniques?"

A different elder. "You want beast hunting?"

Another. "You want survival?"

Another. "You want combat?"

Everyone laughed. "Learn from anyone."

Little Bull blinked. "Anyone?"

"Anyone."

"As many as I want?"

"As many as you want."

"You won’t get angry?"

"Why would I get angry?"

Little Bull thought about it.

The giant leaned back. "We don’t do all that nonsense here."

The hall nodded in agreement. "There is no one master for life."

"You learn from whoever can teach you."

"You become stronger."

"That’s all."

Lin Mu sat quietly while Little Bull appeared to think deeply. Inside, however, he was genuinely surprised as this arrangement was almost unheard of. Yet from the perspective of his mission, it was ideal.

There was no single master watching his every movement. No rigid hierarchy and certainly no constant oversight.

All there was left was freedom... an incredible amount of freedom.

And judging by the atmosphere around him, Wild Peak genuinely operated according to those principles.

Little Bull finally nodded. "I like that."

The hall immediately erupted in approving laughter and cheers.

And as the feast continued deep into the evening, Lin Mu found himself learning more and more about the strange, chaotic, and surprisingly welcoming place that was Wild Peak.

He felt as though he had found a corner of the sect where he could move freely without attracting the kind of attention that would threaten his plans. The vault still remained hidden somewhere within this enormous world. But now, at last, he had a place from which to begin searching for it.

For the time being, Lin Mu continued to eat and observed everyone. He was trying to estimate everyone’s strength and while he could not use his Immortal sense right now, with how vibrant and unfettered everyone’s vitality was, Lin Mu managed to estimate it quite well.

And what he learned surprised him more than he had expected.
