Chapter 3856: A Strange Girl
Little Bull stared as Pink resumed eating.
Lin Mu decided there was no point asking further. After nearly half of the boar had disappeared, Pink finally stopped. She placed the stone plate on the ground.
Lin Mu waited as Pink looked at the remaining meat. Her eyes lingered upon it for several seconds.
Then she rubbed her stomach. "Full."
Lin Mu almost felt relieved. The girl reached somewhere within her robes and pulled out a small handkerchief. Lin Mu did not see a storage ring. There was no pendant around her neck either.
’Hidden storage tool?’ Lin Mu wondered.
Pink carefully wiped her face and the greasy marks disappeared. She cleaned her fingers as well before folding the handkerchief and putting it away. Then she stood and clapped her hands together.
"Thanks for the food!" she said politely.
Little Bull smiled. "You’re welcome."
Pink nodded and having said that, the girl turned around. She began walking away. Little Bull watched her while Lin Mu had several questions. He had deliberately avoided asking too much earlier because he did not want to appear suspicious.
Still, there was one simple question that Little Bull could reasonably ask. "Wait."
Pink stopped and looked over her shoulder.
Little Bull tilted his head. "What division or peak are you from?"
Pink stared at him as Lin Mu waited. The girl slowly raised a finger and placed it against her temple. Her brows furrowed and she appeared to be thinking extremely hard. Lin Mu watched as five seconds passed by.
Pink’s eyes suddenly brightened. "The big one."
Little Bull blinked. "The big one?"
Pink nodded and Lin Mu waited for her to explain, but she did not.
"What is it called?" Lin Mu asked
Pink looked at him, then she smiled. Before Lin Mu could ask anything else, the girl’s feet left the ground and her body floated upward. Lin Mu’s eyes sharpened as Pink rose several meters into the air.
Then she suddenly accelerated.
WHOOSH!
Her pink figure turned into a blur. Within moments, she disappeared beyond the trees. Little Bull remained standing beside the fire. He stared in the direction she had gone.
"Huh." Lin Mu rubbed his chin. "She is a Qi cultivator."
He was certain now.
The way Pink had flown was completely different from High Elder Shatter Peak.
Pink had simply floated and her movements were smooth with precise control. There had been no obvious release of vitality.
’Definitely Qi cultivation.’ Lin Mu looked at the empty stone plates.
He thought about the strange girl again.
"Name Pink and from the big division?" Lin Mu muttered.
He shook his head. "Just like a child would say."
Of course, there was no guarantee Pink was actually a child.
Cultivators were complicated.
One’s physical appearance usually became fixed after reaching the Nascent Soul realm. The body stopped aging naturally at that stage, preserving the cultivator’s appearance at the time of their breakthrough.
Because of that, cultivators in the Immortal Realm usually planned their breakthroughs carefully. Most preferred reaching the Nascent Soul realm after entering their twenties. It allowed them to retain a mature appearance while still appearing young.
Cultivators in mortal worlds rarely had such luxury. For them, reaching the Nascent Soul realm was already a monumental achievement. Very few would deliberately delay their cultivation simply because they wanted to look older.
The Immortal Realm was different. Even those with mediocre talent could reach the Nascent Soul realm extremely early.
Some children from powerful clans began cultivation before they could properly read. With vast resources, excellent techniques, and experienced elders guiding them, reaching the Nascent Soul realm as a child was entirely possible.
Even then, there were solutions. Certain pills and body modification techniques allowed cultivators to artificially age their physical appearances. The effects were mostly cosmetic and did not reduce lifespan.
Because of that, seeing immortals who permanently looked like children was rare. Most of those who retained such appearances did so deliberately. Lin Mu had encountered eccentric cultivators before. Some acted like children despite being thousands of years old. Others maintained strange appearances because they enjoyed confusing people.
’Pink could be one of those.’ Lin Mu frowned.
Then another possibility appeared in his mind.
’Was that a disguise?’ He thought carefully.
There were several reasons to consider it. The first was Pink’s vitality as it was strangely contained. Lin Mu had difficulty estimating her strength despite his experience with body cultivation.
An illusion technique could interfere with his perception. Certain disguise techniques altered more than physical appearance. Advanced methods could change a cultivator’s apparent vitality, aura, and even their scent.
The second reason was her arrival.
Lin Mu had never heard her arrive. Pink had appeared on the tree branch without producing the slightest sound.
That required skill.
A random disciple would have struggled to hide their movements from Lin Mu’s physical senses, even without him using Immortal Sense. Yet Pink had managed it effortlessly.
’Stealth technique.’ Lin Mu crossed his arms. ’Possibly an illusion too.’
The more he thought about it, the more reasonable the possibility seemed.
Then another question appeared.
"Why would she do that?" Lin Mu could not figure it out.
Pink had admitted she belonged to the sect. At least, her answer had implied it. She had not acted nervous about being in the Wild Peak’s territory. She had openly flown away. If she were an intruder, behaving so casually would have been incredibly foolish.
’Maybe she’s hiding from someone.’ Lin Mu considered it. ’Or avoiding work.’
Considering the Wild Peak disciples he had met, that seemed surprisingly plausible. Still, there was insufficient information. Lin Mu looked toward the direction Pink had disappeared.
"I’ll ask someone later." Perhaps one of the Wild Peak disciples knew about her.
Bright pink hair was difficult to miss. Even if Pink was using a disguise, she might have appeared around the sect before. Lin Mu put the matter aside. There was something else he needed to handle.
His cultivation. Or rather, Little Bull’s supposed cultivation.
