Chapter 3983: Looking Into The Core Archives

Chapter 3983: Looking Into The Core Archives

The deeper Lin Mu went into the Core Court archives, the more he realized just how much information the Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect had accumulated over the countless years of its existence.

The archive was vast enough that a normal cultivator could spend their entire life wandering through it and still fail to see even a fraction of what was stored within.

There were entire halls dedicated to cultivation techniques, historical events, missions, territorial changes, notable disciples, elders, sect policies, wars, alliances, enemy factions and countless other categories that had accumulated over the passage of time.

Fortunately, Lin Mu did not need to physically read everything. The Records Division had clearly been modernized several times, and a large portion of the older written records had been converted into jade slips.

Those jade slips had been catalogued according to multiple identifying characteristics, allowing someone with sufficient authority to search through them directly with their spiritual sense.

For Lin Mu, this was almost like having an enormous library inside his mind.

Hundreds of books opened around him at the same time, their pages turning rapidly as his immortal sense skimmed through them. At the same time, dozens of jade slips floated around him, their contents flowing directly into his mind as he searched for specific names, organizations and events.

He had long since developed the ability to memorize information with exceptional efficiency, and with his current level of perception, he could retain almost everything he considered relevant after seeing it once.

He still took care with important details, though. He would occasionally stop and reread a particular section several times, especially whenever a name appeared that might have some connection to the clues he had gathered inside the Mad Demon Depths.

His first major target was the Heavenly Stream Immortal Daoist and this time, the records were considerably more detailed.

Unlike the Inner Court archives, which had contained only scattered information about the man’s early years, the Core Court records contained his complete rise through the sect. His title and name appeared together in multiple official documents, and Lin Mu immediately began reading through them.

"Deng Siqi." Lin Mu quietly repeated the name.

The records described a cultivator who had entered the sect with relatively ordinary circumstances. His early talent had been considered good, though there had been nothing about him that would have immediately suggested the legendary existence he would eventually become.

His greatest advantage seemed to have been his temperament. He was described as diligent, patient and highly adaptable, with an unusual ability to learn from failure. His early missions had involved relatively mundane tasks, though he had gradually distinguished himself through his performance.

Lin Mu read about his first missions, his advancement into the Core Court, his selection as a trainee for the Immortal Court and his eventual participation in several large scale conflicts. The records became increasingly impressive as the years progressed.

His cultivation advanced rapidly, and the missions assigned to him became progressively more dangerous. Then came the point where his name began appearing alongside the title that had become famous throughout the Eastern Immortal Court.

’The Heavenly Stream Immortal Daoist.’ Lin Mu carefully read every record concerning the man.

He learned that his promotion to High Elder had been almost unprecedented in its speed.

After returning from the Immortal Court, Deng Siqi had already reached the Seventh Tribulation Stage of the Immortal Realm. His achievements during his missions had also been extraordinary, including the elimination of several powerful demonic factions and the recovery of important resources that had long been considered lost. ree

There were records of battles where he had fought against enemies several realms above other cultivators of the same generation. There were records of negotiations where his judgment had prevented conflicts from escalating.

There were also records of expeditions into dangerous regions where entire groups had disappeared before he returned alone with the mission objective completed. Lin Mu continued reading and the more he learned, the more complicated his impression of the man became.

Deng Siqi had apparently been involved in numerous organizations throughout his life.

Some were temporary expedition groups, some were alliances between disciples, some were teams formed for particular missions, and others were groups connected to the Immortal Court. There were even records of him acting as an intermediary between different factions within the sect.

Yet there was no mention of the Hopeful Star Pavilion which made Lin Mu frown.

He searched again but still found nothing. He searched variations of the name but there was still nothing. He searched for several prominent members whose names Zhenyu had recorded.

There were some matches, but they had no obvious connection to Deng Siqi.

"This is getting a bit tiresome." Lin Mu leaned back slightly.

He had expected something to appear eventually. Instead, the archives seemed to deliberately separate the two pieces of information. The Hopeful Star Pavilion had existed, and Deng Siqi had been active during the same broad period, yet there was no official record connecting them.

That did not prove anything and Lin Mu knew better than to treat the absence of a record as proof that something had never happened. He expanded the search and this time he searched for the Hopeful Star Pavilion itself.

Several records appeared.

The earliest mentions were scattered and relatively insignificant, describing it as a private association of disciples and elders. Over time, however, its influence grew. The later records described it as one of the largest private factions within the sect.

Lin Mu read through the membership lists as there were quite a few impressive names. Some had become elders. Some had become administrators. Some had become prominent figures within the Immortal Court. And several had even established families that continued for generations.

Lin Mu followed those names one by one.

He checked their achievements, their descendants, their disciples and their eventual deaths. Most had disappeared from the records centuries later as some had died during tribulations while others had perished while exploring dangerous regions.

A few had died during wars but many had simply reached the limits of their cultivation and passed away after exhausting their natural lifespan.
