Chapter 4955: Not the same
“Hmm, it really is different.”
From the moment they entered until now, what they saw was unlike anything found in ordinary aristocratic families. Within the Song residence, places like pavilions and terraces, or areas near rockeries and ponds, featured decorations of animals or fruits and vegetables. These ornaments were so lifelike they seemed real. The very layout of the estate alone made it feel uniquely distinctive.
“I wonder what delicious food Sister Mi’er’s third brother has prepared,” Yue’er rubbed her hands in anticipation, trotting toward the kitchen.
Seeing this, Hao’er and Mu Chen hurried to follow.
In the kitchen, a man dressed in blue robes held a steaming dish as he addressed Song Mi’er: “I just heard you’ve returned and was planning to visit you later. I didn’t expect you’d come straight here. Perfect timing—come try this new pastry Third Brother made.”
His voice trailing off, the man in blue turned in surprise to the three children entering the room, then looked back at Song Mi’er and asked, “Did you bring them back?”
Linking her arm through his, Song Mi’er replied with a smile, “Third Brother, I smelled something delicious coming from your kitchen, so I came straight over.” “She then turned to Yue’er and the others, introducing them: “These three are my friends. I met them during my recent trip. This is Yun Chen, this is Yun Yuan, and this is Yun Qi.”
She then addressed Hao’er and the others: “This is my third brother, Song Yifan.”
Hearing this, the three exchanged glances and unison called out: “Brother Yifan.”
“Mi’er rarely brings friends home. You’re the first she’s ever brought,” Song Yifan smiled, gesturing to the three. “Come, sit over here. Freshly baked pastries—perfect for you to try.”
“Thank you, Brother Yifan,” the three replied gratefully, moving to sit at the nearby table.
Maidservants placed a small bowl, spoon, plate, and chopsticks before each of them. The tableware looked exquisitely crafted.
“You eat these like this,” Song Yifan instructed, carefully picking one up with chopsticks and placing it on a spoon. The thin, glossy skin steamed, releasing waves of enticing aroma. “Be careful—the soup inside is hot.”
“Pierce a corner to let the broth flow out. Sip the broth first, then eat the dumpling,” he demonstrated, ensuring the children wouldn’t burn their mouths.
“Third Brother, isn’t this the same as those soup-filled buns?” Song Mi’er asked, picking one up.
“Improved,” Song Yifan replied, his gaze fixed on the three children. “Thinner skin, more filling, and I used premium broth.”
Despite their young age, their demeanor was composed. The two boys sat upright, their posture straight, and their eating habits naturally exuded an air of nobility and elegance.
“Mi’er, they’re so young. Did their family know you brought them home?” Song Yifan asked, glancing at his sister who was eating without any grace.
“They know, they know! Don’t worry! I’m not kidnapping kids,” Mi’er said cheerfully, blowing on her spoonful of soup before taking a sip.
“Delicious, so delicious,” Yue’er beamed with satisfaction, picking up another piece as she spoke. “Big Brother Yifan, your pastries are amazing.”
“If you like them, have more. There’s plenty left.”
Song Yifan smiled, his gaze drifting toward the courtyard entrance. Spotting his parents and two older brothers approaching, he stood up and greeted them: “Father, Mother, Eldest Brother, Second Brother.”
