Mesmerizing Ghost Doctor

Chapter 5229: Purpose

Chapter 5229: Purpose

“What do you want! What’s your purpose in doing all of this?!”

Yue’er shouted angrily. Ever since entering this place, they’d been set up. The smoke had isolated them, and she was trapped in this space, watching Big Brother Xiao get injured time and again just to protect her. What did this person want?

“Hmph… Purpose? Naturally, it’s you.” The woman’s voice rose slightly at the end before continuing, “An innate spirit-gathering body, possessing an ancient Sacred Beast, and bearing a seal within. You must have quite the extraordinary background, right?”

She chuckled softly, her voice icy yet tinged with an eerie delight. “No one has entered for so many years. Who would’ve thought the one who came this time would have such a splendid vessel? Truly, it makes one eager!”

Yue’er’s heart sank. Her spirit body was undetectable to ordinary people—only demons, ghosts, or powerful beings like her Father and Mother, or her master, could perceive it.

After all, they had concealed it for her. Yet now, this shadowy figure, whose true nature remained unknown, had uncovered it. Worse, they knew of the Sacred Beast within her—proof of terrifying strength.

But if this being coveted her body, it was highly unlikely to be human!

“If I’m your target, why attack Big Brother Xiao? And why use my appearance to create an illusion?” Yue’er pressed, her mind racing with thoughts of how to escape this space.

“Hehehe… You’ll find out soon enough.” As the voice faded, Yue’er suddenly felt a force propel her outward, hurling her toward the exit.

“Big Brother Xiao!” She rushed over to support him. “How are you? Sit down quickly! I’ll stop the bleeding first!”

“Little Qi?”

Xiao Junyan stared at her, momentarily unable to discern whether the person before him was an illusion or real. Each illusion carried Yun Qi’s aura, extremely alike the real her, leaving him unable to tell them apart.

“It’s me, Big Brother Xiao.” Seeing his wounds, her eyes welled with tears. “I’m sorry. It’s all my fault.”

“As long as you’re unharmed, that’s all that matters. We can’t linger here. We must leave immediately.” Xiao Junyan spoke, clasping her hand firmly. “Let’s go!”

“Go? Hah… Do you really think you can leave?”

The voice echoed again, this time audible even to Xiao Junyan.

“Who’s there!” Xiao Junyan barked, his face darkening as he scanned the surroundings. Despite his severe injuries, he forced himself to stand firm.

“I was trapped by her earlier. This person is formidable, but it’s highly likely they’re not human,” Yue’er said, examining the wounds still oozing blood on his body. She held a medicine bottle in one hand and sprinkled the liquid onto his injuries.

“Once you enter this place, you cannot leave. You won’t escape my grasp.”

The voice seemed to sense the two retrieving their teleportation jade. The cold tone echoed again: “I advise you not to waste your efforts. Even with teleportation jade, it won’t help. However, if you truly wish to leave, it’s not impossible. But only one of you can leave here alive.”

While the voice spoke, Yue’er’s gaze darted around the room. She realized they hadn’t moved since entering—there was nowhere to hide here. Even if there were, it would likely be a trap or an array.

But where exactly was that voice coming from?

Suddenly, her eyes landed on a painting on the wall not far ahead.
