My Post-Apocalyptic Shelter Levels Up Infinitely!

Chapter 952: Who Is the Lamb? Who Is the Butcher?_2

“I’ve always said our Academy has to arm itself. We can’t leave all the power of defense in other people’s hands. If Pojun doesn’t react in time today, we’re finished.”

“Hand over the right to use force, and we’re lambs waiting for the knife, left for anyone to bully. Ah, ah, ah...”

“At least the invaders are murlocs, not outsiders. Seeing how restrained they still are, I hope they find whatever they’re interested in soon and get out. Once they’re gone we can talk about revenge.”

“Ah. Those who are not of our kind will never share our hearts. Back then we should never have civilized this pack of murlocs. We handed them their weapons ourselves, and in the end those weapons were pointed straight back at us.”

“Congwen, they seem to have surrounded your third floor. What’s going on? Is there something on the third floor drawing them?”

“Yeah. Their attention all seems to be on the third floor. What’s going on?”

Hou Congwen had only just been helped to sit among the crowd when the chatter rose from every side.

But after being clubbed senseless and rolling all the way down from the third floor, Hou Congwen’s head was swimming. He could not get a single word out.

Listening to everyone’s discussion, he struggled to lift his eyelids and look up, and only then did he realize.

On seven floors, hundreds of murlocs stood with their eyes fixed as one on his third floor, as if they were waiting for something.

Treatment that grand was something even the dean of the Architecture Institute, who lived on the seventh floor, had never enjoyed.

“No. On the third floor there’s...”

Blood rushed to his head. Thinking of the true master of the Deification Ranking, Hou Congwen gave a violent start and hurriedly tried to open his mouth.

But before he could finish, an explosion unlike anything before thundered in everyone’s ears.

Boom!

Flames shot out on every side, and waves of heat rolled through.

The laboratory on the third floor, like a fire-breathing dragon, suddenly spat tongues of scorching flame three to five meters outward.

Under the same-frequency resonance, the shock shattered every pane of glass in the building into fragments that rained down onto the floor with crisp, clear sounds.

The well-equipped murlocs who had been holding the third floor became rag dolls in that instant. Three or five of them were blown clean off the floor and smashed heavily onto the first-floor platform.

Blue-green blood sprayed out and spattered many of the researchers.

The air instantly filled with a stench like socks worn for half a year and then pickled in a jar for another half year.

“Kill without mercy! Kill without mercy!”

Before anyone on the scene could work out what had happened, the murlocs’s voices came faintly from the third floor through the roar of flame.

As they shouted, the murlocs on the higher floors also began to grow excited.

“The enemy is on the right side of the third floor!” a furious roar rang out.

On the sixth floor, one murloc actually heaved up a launcher and yanked the trigger.

A rocket with a trailing plume of flame shot from the device and streaked toward the third floor like an arrow from the string.

Even though there were still quite a few surviving murlocs on the third floor, they no longer cared. They launched an indiscriminate attack at once.

Booms rang out, burning oil splashed, and the third floor gradually turned into a sea of fire.

Murlocs still alive screamed from time to time and scattered, trying to flee.

The whole scene had broken out with shocking suddenness. In barely five seconds, the situation seemed completely reversed.

In an instant, as more and more rockets fired in salvos, the third floor was like a wheat field after a harvester had passed, almost pounded flat.

“The enemy is still alive! He went out through the gap! He’s gone to the second floor! The second floor!”

Violent, dull impacts exploded one after another.

Following that sound, many murlocs on the first floor howled and charged toward the second floor, and the dazed researchers came to their senses and hurriedly looked toward the killing shouts.

“Holy shit, what is that thing?”

“He’s so fast, and he can run on the walls. Could he be some kind of mutated alien?”

“Damn, he can actually fight murlocs wearing Hope Assault Devices in close combat. How is that possible?”

“No, wait. Haven’t you noticed his fighting style and his build look a lot like a human’s?”

“A human? Impossible. Even a top-tier special-forces soldier couldn’t trade blows like that inside an encirclement this tight.”

On the second floor, the two sides tangled together in the blink of an eye.

The fire had already spread everywhere, and the smoke cut visibility to three meters at most.

Quite a few of the murlocs still carried guns, but in an environment packed with their own side, if they fired at random they would probably cut down their own people in heavy numbers before they ever hit the enemy.

So they could only fall back on the most primitive form of brawling and rush in for close combat.

The “person” under siege had no such limit. The Wolf Fang assault rifle he had somehow seized kept spraying deadly fire, taking one living “fish life” after another.

“Trash!”

“This many of you against one human, and you still can’t win!”

In the narrow corridor, only a few murlocs could charge in at once.

But along the railing on the side of the second floor, dead fish kept falling from above in no small numbers.

Watching the dead and wounded pile up, the murlocs on the first floor who were guarding the researchers finally could not hold back.

They left only three or five with guns to keep watch, and nearly all the rest poured up the stairs in a swarm.

“A human! That person on the second floor is actually human!”

“My God, how is this possible? How can a human keep up such terrifying killing efficiency?”

“His combat awareness... no, his reaction speed is too fast. If he put on our Hope Assault Device, that would be the true assault form!”

Amid the discussion, Hou Congwen, who had still not fully come around, finally recovered a little of his wits under the precious water.
