Chapter 4567 - Familiar Faces
Watching Lin Xiaoting die before him once again, Tianming’s expression darkened.
He examined the remains. They were a sickly green identical to the mist filling the space, giving off an eerie and chilling aura.
Even Ying Huo felt uneasy. “This brat really refuses to stay dead. But from how he acted just now, that really was him, not some impostor.”
Meow Meow nodded in agreement. “Definitely his personality. Arrogant and disgusting as ever.”
Xian Xian’s spiritform floated out as well. It frowned in discomfort from the green mist. “When I first saw the green leaf mark on your forehead, I thought this Aeternal Being might be plant-related,” she said. “But these green mists don’t feel anything like plants.”
Ji Ji floated out calmly. “I don’t think so either. But what now? That guy copied me and blew himself up. How are we supposed to find anyone now?”
Tianming stayed silent for a moment. Lin Xiaoting’s words lingered in his mind. Your family is already dead.
He shook his head and quickly regained his composure.
“Yin Chen, continue searching.”
While Yin Chen spread out, Tianming pushed deeper inside. The further they went, the thicker the mist became until it even started to feel viscous.
Green slime clung to Ying Huo’s wings. “Damn, this is disgusting. Little Li, I can’t take it anymore. Let me back in!”
It shook the liquid off his wings and returned to Tianming’s hand. The others quickly followed. None of them wanted to remain outside any longer.
Bai Ye suddenly guessed, “This place feels like the inside of some giant worm. The entrance we came through was probably its mouth, and all this green mist is digestive fluid.”
Those words nearly made all the beasts throw up.
Ying Huo coughed. “Good hypothesis. Maybe ask Little Fifth. It’s a bug too.”
Yin Chen immediately exploded in outrage. “I am... not disgusting. My existence... is art!”
The three Sixths all snorted at the same time.
Xian Xian raised its hand seriously. “I agree. Fifth Brother bathes constantly and loves being clean. It’s hygienic! And these green mists really disgust me. It feels like seeing pests crawling on my body...”
Tianming trusted Xian Xian’s instincts. These green mists, perhaps this entire space, might truly belong to some monstrous worm.
That immediately reminded him of the Mayfly Brain Emperor from the Sea of Aeternity, and the thought made his scalp tingle.
“This is definitely the work of an Aeternal Being, likely Dao San.”
Soon, the mist also added a corrosive property. Tianming himself was mostly unaffected, but Yin Chen suffered badly.
A message came through: “Continue and ... I’ll melt. Corrosion is... too strong.”
Even Yin Chen could no longer endure it.
“Come back. I’ll continue alone.” Silver cockroaches soon returned. Many were covered in green fluid, and some had already been corroded halfway through.
Yin Chen looked ready to die from disgust and desperately wanted a bath, though the circumstances clearly did not allow it.
Tianming could only reassure it. “Bear with it. I’ll let you bathe as much as you want later.”
Yin Chen said nothing and slipped back into Tianming’s body.
Now alone, Tianming pressed forward. More and more green slime coated his body. Though the corrosion did little to him, the stickiness still grossed him out. But he endured it for the sake of Li Muyang and the others.
“At least the thicker the mist gets, the more likely I’m heading the right way.”
If they were still alive, they had to be deeper within this place.
Inside him, the beasts continued complaining.
Xian Xian whimpered, “It’s over. Little Li isn’t clean anymore. He’s so green now!”
Ying Huo laughed. “Relax. We’ve gone through worse than this. It’s just green slime.”
“But it’s green...” Xian Xian sniffled. “Can Little Li really handle that?”
“Can you two stop talking already?” Tianming complained.
Was he really that green?
Though admittedly, he was now almost entirely covered in green slime, looking like some bizarre green cosmic god.
The green mist then transformed into an ocean of green mucus that resisted Tianming’s progress.
Then suddenly, he spotted four vague outlines ahead.
Ying Huo cried out excitedly, “Land ahoy!”
Meow Meow perked up as well. “Could it be your parents and the others?”
Tianming narrowed his eyes. “No. They’re all around one hundred thousand meters tall. Wei Jing definitely wouldn’t be that size.”
As he drew closer, the sight before him made both him and his beasts feel their scalps go numb.
They were four familiar faces from the past.
Yueling Ji, Yueling Tu, Yueling Tong, and Yueling Long.
The four female imperatores of the Yueling Starcage were all here, their bodies pierced and bound by countless green veins. Completely naked, they hung suspended within the sea of green slime.
They looked close to death, yet some kind of healing substance was being pumped into them through the green veins.
